  • Prepare to walk out with over $170k of loans and a degree... :D

  • It is my dream to fly.. I pray in a couple of years I could get accepted into this university of aviation.. Study hard and take a introductory flight are my goals now.. Any tips I could use right now ? I'm becoming a junior in high school later in September of this year.

  • Wow anyone else think the DA42 is one of the most beautiful machines ever..?

I'm excited to be a student here! I've been accepted for fall '12 at Daytona Beach!:)

  • @DiamondPilotDan We're excited to have you as an incoming freshman in the fall!

  • @DiamondPilotDan Same here! Good luck! See you there.

  • @05koda if you want to be a fighter pilot, join the military, make them pay for college, get a four year degree (need one to be a pilot) and then try to get a slot. That's your only way. A degree in aviation is worthless.

  • Also is this a real collage? do u get a educational degree too?

  • @05koda Yes, Embry-Riddle is a fully accredited university with over 40 degree programs and campuses all around the world. Check out our website: erau.edu

  • NOw if i want to be a fighter pilot in the military is this a good collage for me?

  • @05koda Embry-Riddle offers ROTC programs and flight training. It would be a great fit for someone looking to become a fighter pilot in the military. Check out our website: erau.edu

  • will the instructors ever let you do areobatics? :b just wondering

  • Thats Schools is too Expensive and they Don't not privide Job placement!

  • @zaverterry to their defense, all flight schools are expensive. And none can guarantee a job in the airlines, instructor jobs can be given to those that demonstrate they are good instructors but embry-riddle doesn't own the airlines. As a pilot from a private flight school and 10k into my private pilots license I speak from experience on expense.

  • @the1bigace Yes but 200K for licenses and a useless degree? Spreading lies that its the best training in the world? Please...

  • I go to Embry in Daytona, I don't get why it seems to have such a bad rep online, its a good school, awesome facilities, great professors, the only problems is that it is undeniably expensive, and its a mostly male school, but Daytona State is right next to it with plenty of girls and we party with them all the time at local clubs, maybe its slightly overrated, but it is an awesome school. And in reality, where you get your rating does matter when you first enter the aviation field. ATC FTW!

  • @FrankDaTank1218 Sounds like someone drank the kool aid..oh well..

  • Embrys a scam, Do your self a favor and stay in state, pay in state tuition at your university, and go to a part 161 flight school. You will save thousands, the airlines don't care where you got your ratings from, they just care you have them.

  • @riddlebrandan If only there was a part 161.

  • @rambizel294 brainwashed much? Are you aware that is simply not true. The military pilots dominate the major airline industry. Are you aware that major airline starting salary for FO is about 40k? University and degree means nothing. Hours and experience means everything. I have met many riddle pilots working the line at my fbo. I can show them your comment and they will say bull crap.

  • @rev4life03 Seniority is everything.

  • Everyday of the year my ass.

Come to Prescott if you want to fly 365 days a year. Go Golden Eagles.

  • If you live somewhere else than Daytona beach (Ex: Ormond beach). Can you still go to embry riddle?

  • @danny060902 Of course! You have the option of commuting to the Daytona campus or if you choose to take classes online, you can take a look at the WorldWide campus options: worldwide.erau. edu/admissions/index.html

  • how much total flight time will you have if you do the single engine track compared to the multi engine track and how long will it take to do.

  • @19opsoccer Contact the Flight Department, they will be able to help you: daytonabeach.erau.edu/coa/flight-department/index.html

  • Talk to a current flying pilot at the airlines today, and get the real story. Remember, flight schools mainly want your money.

Who wants to start life with a $100,000 - $200,000 debt, all to get a flying job starting out at appr. $17,000/yr. (Recently a passenger told me his son has a $250,000 debt now from ERAU) The cost will be more when the new FAA requirements are presented.

Talk to the ones (airline pilots) doing the job, not the salespeople who need your money to keep them afloat.

  • @15yrPilot Are you aware that many airline pilots are Riddle grads. Are you aware that once a pilot hits the majors he makes at least $60,000, and eventually over $100k per year? Last time I checked, Riddle is a University, not a flight school. We pay a high price for an all around premium education. Do your math and talk to an airline pilot who isnt going through the regional grind. And 15 years flying a 150 means your opinion carries about as much weight as your wings on a day with 9500ft DA

  • @rambizel294 Cessna pilot?? I have 18 yrs. as an airline pilot, and if you're a student there, then I probably had more actual instrument time before joining the airlines, than you have TT hrs. now. Do your pilots skip the regional grind and go straight to the majors? You really need to do your homework, and stop believing the sales pitch. Also, 60K is not the starting salary at the majors; it's approx. half that. Regionals - under 20K. Imagine erau debt of $200,000 + interest/yr. !!

  • I'm gonna come to u and study in embry-riddle's

  • Could Embry-Riddle get you your private and commercial pilot licence?

  • @me2237247 Contact Ken Byrnes at the Flight Department to answer these questions for you. You can reach him at 386-226-6893 or Email: byrnesk@erau.edu

  • About how much is the percent of student that get jobs as pilots at major airlines.

  • @19opsoccer We do not have an exact percent to give to you but the major airlines hire more alumni from Embry-Riddle than from any other collegiate aviation program.

  • Hi,

I'm from Ghana, my name is Louis. I've always dreamed of being an airline pilot. I heard of Embry-riddle. I just completed high school, do i have any chance of gaining admission? I speak English too.

Is the fees affordable? please help me, i would like to start my training as soon as possible.

    Thank you :)

  • @TheCaptainluigi Start off by going to our website: erau.edu

Then talk with an admissions counselor through phone or email: Prescott Campus 928-777-6600

Daytona Campus 386-226-6100 dbadmacd @ erau. edu

Worldwide Campus 800-359-3728 worldwide @ erau. edu

  • Hello,

I'm from France, my name is Melody. I already speak english because I've already lived in the USA.

I'm interested in Embry Riddle, but I don't know which grades I need. In France, we have a Scientific section in high school, which is what I'm in. I would like to become a pilot...

I have a basic aeronautics diploma, which I got with a really good grade. I've already handled a small plane, but I don't know how to fly yet.

Do I have my chances at Embry Riddle?

    Thank you!

  • @PinkyFrenchie33 Contact the Daytona Beach admissions department at 386-226-6100 or campanak@erau.edu and check out the admissions website: erau.edu/db/admissions/faq.html

  • I was so excited to learn about ERAU. I've always wanted to become a pilot. I just earned my PPL and I'm thinking about adding an instrument rating before applying to Embry Riddle. I talked to a graduate who told me he had become an instructor for the university while he was still a student himself. Is this possible? It all sounds almost too good to be true. Also, will having a PPL and an instrument rating put me ahead of the game? I'm also familiar with the G1000.

Thanks so much for your help!

  • @DiamondPilotDan Yes, it is possible to become a flight instructor at Embry-Riddle while you are still a student! Contact our flight department with more questions: daytonabeach.erau.edu/coa/flight-department/index.html We hope to see you on campus soon!

  • @EmbryRiddleUniv Thank you so much!:) Hoping to see you fall '12!!

  • I know but i want to know is if I do pay the extra money for Embry Riddle, is there a higher employment rate into the industry throught Embry Riddle than through another aviation school?

  • @yanksrokmysox08 The networking within our faculty and help from career services allows our graduates to have a 95% effective employment rate within one year of graduation.

  • @yanksrokmysox08 The major airlines hire more alumni from Embry-Riddle than from any other collegiate aviation program.

  • I really want to go here to become a pilot, but I have heard a lot of negative reviews about going here in terms of not being able to get a job and living years in debt on a small salary.

  • @yanksrokmysox08 We can't hide it...Embry-Riddle is an expensive university, but its world class technical education is not to overlook. Also, more than 85% of students receive some form of achievement-based and/or need-based state, federal, or institutional assistance, including ROTC scholarships. Check out our website at erau.edu to find out what you are eligible for!

  • Can you have 0 hours of flight experience to attend embry-riddle?

  • @car747los Yes! Embry-Riddle welcomes students with years of flying experience and little or none at all. We are an aviation based university, but offer degrees in many different areas as well.

  • Is there any kind of honors program here? Is there an honors dorm?

  • @BeastlyButtercup At Embry-Riddle, we do have an Honors Program designed to attract and retain top students and to develop their communicative, analytical, critical, and research skills, nurturing a love of life-long learning, leadership, and service. We do not have a specific honors dorm, but during their freshman year, Honors students electing this option are housed together in a University residence hall. To find out more visit us online!

  • @Javifly430 I really appreciated this input! I'm in the process of looking at some different schools for Aeronautical Science and it's always nice to know some of the misconceptions as well as the cliches about certain schools before you get stuck with whatever titles they tend to me associated with.

Then again, if it's too good to be true it usually is. Not exactly sure what the best route is to get there at the moment, but I know I belong in the air - friends seneca doesn't quite cut it ;)

  • Whats the lowest GPA one can have to get accepted? What are the standards for getting accepted? Is a foreign language required in High School to get accepted? I'm working on getting my private pilots license right now and want to become a Commerical airliner pilot, but my grades are not the greatest.

    Thanks.

  • @B17MAN1090 You seem to have a lot of questions I am not qualified to answer please call the Embry-Riddle general admissions number at: 1-800-862-2416. They should be able to answer your questions or direct you to someone who can. I hope you get the help you need : )

  • @B17MAN1090 They take anyone who has the money...

  • Makes me want to take out 200K in loans and go there right now.....

  • what kind of SAT scores and GPA do i need to get into erau?

  • @k2477456 You don't.

You need to be able to pay tuition and they'll love you.

  • @k2477456 Right now we do not have required minimums for SAT or ACT scores. However, the average scores for accepted students are: SAT - 1160 and ACT - 24

  • All I have heard about are how bad the pilots really are and how arrogant they can be. Acting like god for the fun of it.

    Pricks if you ask me.

  • @ElPajaroloco797 Derp derp de derp deerp.

Would you rather take a radial engine bi-plane, or a glass cockpit fully automated autopilot awesomeness aircraft of today?

  • Ok if there is anyone still checking in on this comment board I would like to know how good the Aerospace Engineering degree really is, and pilots apparently need to just go to a flight only orientated school without all the Bulls*** courses needed.

  • @CalebAnthonyBryant The AE degree is a very good one. There are loads of people hired by Boeing, Lockheed, etc for the engineering. Internships everywhere.

Also, if you have no social life, enjoy being cooped up in a dark room, doing 4 page math problems, and hate pilots... this is the degree and place for you.

  • @Javifly430 I'll give you a nickel to come do it for me. If you're really good, I might let you smell some water.

  • I have applied to Embry Riddle, but i have no flight experience. is this is any way going to effect my application, or for that matter the beginning of flight training?

  • @Adamzrock No

  • @Adamzrock No, not at all. There are a lot of people who get accepted with 0 flight experience.

  • this school is a joke. im a freshmen here and i hate it. stay with a FBO

  • Comment removed

  • @stl3891 sorry dude but theres no way im believing that

  • Does Embry-Riddle have advanced students mixed in with beginner students in one class, or are they divided up?

  • @n310ea You need a loan to get in, *Federal Student Aid form . . . , then you have to be at the flight-line, early in the morning, to do an observer filght, if you want to learn from upperclassmen, *Chose higher flight course flight for your observer, whatever flight you want . . . You can even do that before applying to the University

  • @RippedWookie than you probably dont like aviation as much as you thought you did...

  • @ElPajaroloco797 That's where you're wrong. If you want to fly like a robot, come here. If you want to become a REAL pilot, go somewhere else and do it all yourself.

I love aviation more than most of the people that come here.

  • @RippedWookie ok well see here is the problem...i could listen to what you say and u might be right or i could completely ignor you go to embry and become a proffesional pilot...

  • @ElPajaroloco797 Thats the right attitude! I'm a freshman here. these other people are just pissy

  • @brnrubber303 haha i know right..il be ther in two years lol

  • @ElPajaroloco797 check out my embry riddle video :)

  • I just started on my instrument rating here my freshman year. I realize I made a mistake in coming here. I'm paying a lot more money for lower quality training than what I had at my previous FBO flight training. My flight instructor is still a student here...

  • @Turkeysitar whats the bad part can you please tell me??? i'm thinking to go to this college but i don't know much of it...

  • @deepakrai144 It costs 250k, the school treats you like shit, they charge you out the ass, and they feed you absolute garbage.

  • @Anihalater Its sad what this school will say to get you to go. I had a friend whose classmate is getting their PPL at a trade school. He told me that his classmate called ERAU asking what graduate starting salaries were and ERAU told him 95K A YEAR!!! He told the instructors at the part 141 school i am training at (half of the CFIs are riddle graduates BTW) and lets just say they had a good laugh. I am so glad I went into management instead. Ill have all my ratings and a middle class salary.

  • @Anihalater what if you get a scholorship???

is it still gonna cost you?

if u don't aswerbak i will take it as a no

  • @deepakrai144 Do you honestly think a scholarship or 2 is going to cover $200,000 worth of flying and tuition to earn a pointless Aeronautical Science degree? Trust me, the answer is no.

  • I want to do AS so bad. Problem is, trying to pay for it. Any suggestions? (besides UND)

  • i am already taking erau classes at my high school i am going to enroll as a sophomore with 36 credits already done lmao money in my pocket!

  • cool Ivan

  • Which campus is better? Daytona or prescott?

  • How much does a Army ROTC scholarship gives u?

  • @celicasti9 It depends; there are different types given which range from total coverage of your tuition to just part of it.

  • isnt the tution very expensive?

  • I really want to go here, can you tell me everything I need to do!!!

  • @FSXforeverPilot If you have decent grades & SAT you should get in, oterwise they are doing a regionally selective selection process

  • yo i wanna go here so badd!!! can you tell me everything i have to do to get in plzz!!! i am also a naval cadet i command my platoon and i live in nyc

  • @HaRdKn0cKzKiD Apply, write a good essay / get accepted / fill out FSAS / trust the Lord, & stay safe.

  • @HaRdKn0cKzKiD If you have a ROTC Scholorship you should be able to go there, they have NROTC at the Daytona Beach school, Im trying to get the BDCP to be able to afford going there

  • @AzonaCATS10 How much does an ROTC scholarship give you?

  • @Na8ters Well it all depends on what type you get, some pay all of tution and some dont... To go there you would probably have to get the best possible scholarship and that would be very hard... Im attending La Tech and doing ROTC there, Aviation there is allot cheaper..

  • @HaRdKn0cKzKiD I saw your featured Youtube vid... that looks like a Pittsburgh Bus you are on~ NYC? I did not realize it, but you made me realize, there are not many black kids at ERAU, hardly any, I totally forgot that . . .

  • Obviously, Hilliard should Not be used for night landings, according to policy, if that is still the same.

I think I did possibly break those lights though, and that is the only Emergency landing strip available in that location. It is Needed for Emergencies! That area north of Jacksonville is Totally Dark ! ! !

  • Comment removed

  • Ivan Grau ! Nice seeing you again ! This is Brian Connors from team 1. Also, I hope somone did get up to Hilliard and fixed the runway lights I think I tore up. They did not shut those off on purpose, I accidently broke them when I landed there with a tailwind when I was a student. I hope they are not still broken !
