It is my dream to fly.. I pray in a couple of years I could get accepted into this university of aviation.. Study hard and take a introductory flight are my goals now.. Any tips I could use right now ? I'm becoming a junior in high school later in September of this year.
@05koda if you want to be a fighter pilot, join the military, make them pay for college, get a four year degree (need one to be a pilot) and then try to get a slot. That's your only way. A degree in aviation is worthless.
@05koda Yes, Embry-Riddle is a fully accredited university with over 40 degree programs and campuses all around the world. Check out our website: erau.edu
@05koda Embry-Riddle offers ROTC programs and flight training. It would be a great fit for someone looking to become a fighter pilot in the military. Check out our website: erau.edu
@zaverterry to their defense, all flight schools are expensive. And none can guarantee a job in the airlines, instructor jobs can be given to those that demonstrate they are good instructors but embry-riddle doesn't own the airlines. As a pilot from a private flight school and 10k into my private pilots license I speak from experience on expense.
I go to Embry in Daytona, I don't get why it seems to have such a bad rep online, its a good school, awesome facilities, great professors, the only problems is that it is undeniably expensive, and its a mostly male school, but Daytona State is right next to it with plenty of girls and we party with them all the time at local clubs, maybe its slightly overrated, but it is an awesome school. And in reality, where you get your rating does matter when you first enter the aviation field. ATC FTW!
Embrys a scam, Do your self a favor and stay in state, pay in state tuition at your university, and go to a part 161 flight school. You will save thousands, the airlines don't care where you got your ratings from, they just care you have them.
@rambizel294 brainwashed much? Are you aware that is simply not true. The military pilots dominate the major airline industry. Are you aware that major airline starting salary for FO is about 40k? University and degree means nothing. Hours and experience means everything. I have met many riddle pilots working the line at my fbo. I can show them your comment and they will say bull crap.
@danny060902 Of course! You have the option of commuting to the Daytona campus or if you choose to take classes online, you can take a look at the WorldWide campus options: worldwide.erau. edu/admissions/index.html
Talk to a current flying pilot at the airlines today, and get the real story. Remember, flight schools mainly want your money.
Who wants to start life with a $100,000 - $200,000 debt, all to get a flying job starting out at appr. $17,000/yr. (Recently a passenger told me his son has a $250,000 debt now from ERAU) The cost will be more when the new FAA requirements are presented.
Talk to the ones (airline pilots) doing the job, not the salespeople who need your money to keep them afloat.
@15yrPilot Are you aware that many airline pilots are Riddle grads. Are you aware that once a pilot hits the majors he makes at least $60,000, and eventually over $100k per year? Last time I checked, Riddle is a University, not a flight school. We pay a high price for an all around premium education. Do your math and talk to an airline pilot who isnt going through the regional grind. And 15 years flying a 150 means your opinion carries about as much weight as your wings on a day with 9500ft DA
@rambizel294 Cessna pilot?? I have 18 yrs. as an airline pilot, and if you're a student there, then I probably had more actual instrument time before joining the airlines, than you have TT hrs. now. Do your pilots skip the regional grind and go straight to the majors? You really need to do your homework, and stop believing the sales pitch. Also, 60K is not the starting salary at the majors; it's approx. half that. Regionals - under 20K. Imagine erau debt of $200,000 + interest/yr. !!

@deepakrai144 Do you honestly think a scholarship or 2 is going to cover $200,000 worth of flying and tuition to earn a pointless Aeronautical Science degree? Trust me, the answer is no.
Total Tuition cost at embry riddle for the aeronautical science degree (Pointless Degree) : $54,438 - *Multiply that by 4 for the 4 years attended IF you graduate.
Typical Community College Tuition from US news website: $2,511(Living at home)
ATP airline pilot fast 90 day program cost from the ATP website : $39,995

@HaRdKn0cKzKiD If you have a ROTC Scholorship you should be able to go there, they have NROTC at the Daytona Beach school, Im trying to get the BDCP to be able to afford going there
@Na8ters Well it all depends on what type you get, some pay all of tution and some dont... To go there you would probably have to get the best possible scholarship and that would be very hard... Im attending La Tech and doing ROTC there, Aviation there is allot cheaper..
@HaRdKn0cKzKiD I saw your featured Youtube vid... that looks like a Pittsburgh Bus you are on~ NYC? I did not realize it, but you made me realize, there are not many black kids at ERAU, hardly any, I totally forgot that . . .
Obviously, Hilliard should Not be used for night landings, according to policy, if that is still the same.
I think I did possibly break those lights though, and that is the only Emergency landing strip available in that location. It is Needed for Emergencies! That area north of Jacksonville is Totally Dark ! ! !
Ivan Grau ! Nice seeing you again ! This is Brian Connors from team 1. Also, I hope somone did get up to Hilliard and fixed the runway lights I think I tore up. They did not shut those off on purpose, I accidently broke them when I landed there with a tailwind when I was a student. I hope they are not still broken !

@deepakrai144 Do you honestly think a scholarship or 2 is going to cover $200,000 worth of flying and tuition to earn a pointless Aeronautical Science degree? Trust me, the answer is no.

@HaRdKn0cKzKiD If you have a ROTC Scholorship you should be able to go there, they have NROTC at the Daytona Beach school, Im trying to get the BDCP to be able to afford going there

@AzonaCATS10 How much does an ROTC scholarship give you?
Na8ters 1 year ago
@Na8ters Well it all depends on what type you get, some pay all of tution and some dont... To go there you would probably have to get the best possible scholarship and that would be very hard... Im attending La Tech and doing ROTC there, Aviation there is allot cheaper..
AzonaCATS10 1 year ago
