how does the turbo speed up when you accelerate to keep the air going in compressed

aka what makes the turbo speed up as you hit the gas pedal... like in desiel trucks when you hear the turbo wine when they accelerate.. what causes the turbo to speed up (rpms)

@shortyjk95 The exhaust fumes make the turbo spin. When you accelerate, there's more exhaustion and therefore the turbo spins faster. The more RPM's, the more air compression. That's why there's the so called turbo delay too.

Also it depends on your cams... like a SOHC Saturn S-series will probably get boosted up to the DOHC stock specs (if not slightly more so?), however you turbo the DOHC S-series... you can get almost as much power as a early-to-mid-90s F-150, crown vic, grand marquis, etc...

all depends how big the turbo, and how many pounds of boost u decide to run

it depends on how big of a turbo you run . with a decent size turbo you can easily get double your hp . to get those numbers you need to run high boost, and you need to have fuel injector that can keep up with the boost you run. more boost....more fuel.

Wait dub your HP ?? Are u kidding me ??? The only boost you get out of it is around 30 to 60 HP. No where near a stock 120 HP can turn 240 HP. u needa spend huge cash to tune that baby up to twice the stock HP.

#2 I have seen 240sx KA-T setups at 300HP on stock internals. The car has about 145hp stock, and that's not even at the wheel. It's just a little 4cyl engine.

actually, turbos cut your mileage almost in half. think about it, if you push more air into your engine you will need more gas to make the right fuel/air mixture . and secondly that was the worst explanation of how a turbo works.
