Erik is awesome... But I like the 2004 version better... But they don't even tell you his name in it, they just refer to him as "The Phantom" but also he wouldent be caught dead in a scary crying clown mask! Lol

So basically she "madly loves Erik [caring a whole flipping lot]," but she's "madly IN love with Raoul [wants to be with him]," while Erik's madly in love with her. So the love...it's not at all the same, as they kept saying. At least, unlike some crappy adaptations, Christine is totally willing to come to revelations and right her wrongs to heal his heart, a lot like Beauty and the Beast. It's just kind of saddening that she's not "in love with him." D:

I don't know, I feel like people are missing the point. Christine not being prepared for Erik's face was to prove that she wasn't IN love with him as she'd perhaps thought, not that she was shallow. This movie labels a distinct line between her love for *Raoul* and Erik; she loves Erik as more than a companion and less than a lover through extreme compassion and care; the purest, most general love there is, but she's IN romantic love, infatuation-butterfly-feelings­-wise, with Raoul.
