Are you asking something like if a bear climbing a tree in a forest makes said tree in said forest fall over because of the weight of said bear then does the bear make a sound rhetorical kind of thing?
Personally I hate lonliness. I was a loner most of my life and one day I realized that my few best friends didn't invite me to their weddings. Pushing too many people away boxes you in just as much as letting too many people get too close for too long.
Letting too many people in for too long smothers you and you sacrifice privacy. Keeping them out completely ensures that they won't be there when you need them.
But what about those who can't seek a balance and seek companions romantic and not but fail to find them and end up lonely regardless, with empty meaningless forced relationships few and far between in number. And arrive at the only solutions they can with people who barely care about them out of pity?
jenlight wins. this was a contest right?

Wow, I think I'll think differently about trees from now on, thanks! :-) Are you really alone if you have the laptop and access to the Internet?

"letting too many people get too close for too long" boxes you in?
I'm not sure I understand what you mean.

Oh, I see what you're saying. Best to seek a balance?
We're all different, though. Some are more solitary than others.

It's a beautiful thing. Being able to have freedom and solitude at the same time.

I have often thought they go hand in hand. I only feel truly free when I am alone.
