I have actually gone away from using any strobes at all. From a mobile DJ standpoint, most of my wedding crowds simply do not care for the effect. Its certainly a usable option for high school dances and the like, but primarily not for weddings
For the average mobile DJ an this argument applies, just don't try telling a touring company it needs to replace its atomics with LED fixtures. At the end of the day you are comparing apples to oranges. An atomic is not designed for the same application as a colour strip.
A common misbelief - Strobes can cause epilepsy, but only because of the intensity it creates. With the ever expanding diversity of lights, there are now many others that create an intensity that could similarly trigger a seizure.
I work with adults with cognitive disabilities which are higher at risk of seizures, but from my experience, seizures are determined more by the environment as a whole than just the lights (volume of music, how much you hype the crowd, decorations, friends etc)
Interesting..... Yeah strobes perhaps may be on there way out, but I still get quite a few wows when I fire up that Atomic 30000. :)
P.S. you'll only really need a full 15 Amp breaker if you're using the blinder effect. Even then you can still probably get away with it on 8 amps if neccessary. Hope this helps. Keep up the vids!
From a theatrical lighting perspective I agree the Atomic is one of the best. From a mobile DJ's perspective I think the LEDs may be a better choice. 90% of venues just don't have enough power available.
dude have u ever seen one of those running at full capacity!!!
i dont think so its reall bloody bright! y do u think they use them for absolutly huge venues? like rock concerts and alike thats what they were designed for!
I own 3 of them man. I know how bright they are :) I'm talking from a mobile DJ's perspective dude. They take way too much power to juice them! LEDs are much better from a Mobile DJ's perspective lol.
I have never bought strobes because they have limited uses and dont create an amazing effects.

Good to know, I've heard the frequency of seizures is reduced when the corpus callosum is separated or at least perforated

I haven't used my strobe in probably 6 months. I'm sure they will always be around in some form.
