I cannot tell how much years I searching for this song !!! Really really appreciate for upload !!! My childhood memories are in my mind cuz this song !!!
The summer between grade 8 and grade 9 I discovered New Order. I miss the my youth and the feeling the music had on my back then. Now I just feel nostalgia.
I miss my early 20' when I was young, sexy, horny, extremely confused, depressed, and....happy???? Never back to that age.....oh my god if I only could....
When anyone say JD is better that NO, I put on this tune. No offense to Ian, but this is brilliant. I personally feel that this is even bleaker that all of Ian's songs except "Decades", which is on par in terms of the bleakness.
@absouthern1986 I appreciate most of the remixes - that came with growing up in the 80's I guess. Everything was remixed and then the remixes were remixed - which of course meant there would be an album of remixes.
The original and the best. Absolutely cannot stand the remix with the gospel like singer piping in every second, drowning out the genius of Barney’s raw emotional voice. This version was my theme song as a 14 year old depressed and sad girl- listened to it until I wore out the cassette tape.
The vocals are terrible in this version. The New Order singer has never been the best at singing on key, but that was part of the appeal. This is just too bad. Recording quality of vocals is bad too. Doesn't sound like it fits in with the instruments.
The remix version is great. People downgrading it doesn't make sense to me. Nevertheless, I love the original version. I first heard it today, and I'm in love with it.
@magneticedgerep I agree with you an extent except with me Sub Culture is my clear favourite New Order song, now finding a second favourite is the difficult part....too many great ones.
i like both this version and the remix. calling the remix cheesy is ironic because everything about new order is cheesy, theyre a synth pop band for christs sake
This is one of the best songs in the eighties.A great album of songs, " Low Life".I will hear this with pleasure and emotion through all my life.good times of Pop.
The Chelsea´s sequoia building 24/46-3 Only in chain roll the glimpse existéchnologic control the seen and sensed by the cores dump the neomodio beams between gufflaws set free the womb over the wire fences slaves of his drags-rubbish sweep the house . buy time for his voluptuos existstaycy take joyers between his sands well-knowns, sighties sloibs travel along closets racketlies the cores that despair of the shorts and line thine of video-life .
A decent singer?? Whoever you are, you are not a New Order fan. Just go back to listening to the "good" singers on the radio and absolute CRAP that is being passed as music today.
I just heard this song for the first time in a LONG time on Sirius Satellite radio tonight. I've forgotten what a great track this was on arguably NO's last truly great album.
The music on this version is ok, but I do prefer the remixr. The vocals on the original are really bad. They've definitely been enhanced on the remix and I can appreciate that. New Order should have found themselves a decent singer.
Why does the other mix of this song show up so often? It is obviously inferior to this one. The other one has too much going on.You can barely hear Barney. All for the Low Life version.
because I agree with everyone, this is the best version by far Low Life is the best and most complete album of New Order thanks for sharing and upload. 5*****
Most definitely the best version of this song. The 12" version is unlistenable, this was a great New Order album. Probably the peak of New Order, without Bernard Sumner there would be no New Order!
Yes Low life version better then single version, though single is cool, the backing vocals were good, i dont like that wompy bass line, this version sounds polished, perfect for album.
This version is definitely very good in it's own right and seems more "sincere" for lack of a better word, but I still listen to the substance version much more frequently. Both are damn fine and certainly represent a time when even the pop music on the radio was listenable
I agree! Some Italo Disco is quite good, but I prefer this kind of New Wave / alternative dance music that New Order was so good at, in the 80s
There are two different Razormaid remixes of 'Subculture' which are really excellent. Check them out! Needless to say, the crappy remix I referred to in my comment 2 years ago is the awful single mix.
Altough I intially resisted the temptation (no pun intended), I must concede... the version on "Substance" is so much more powerful, more moving. It's so much more intense!
Probably the same going through Speilberg's mind when he made Indiana Jones 4...."Omfg this is so totally awesome and people will buy anything I make!"
Ye i can buy in2 Tom Jones singin it, but cher i don't think has the right voice for this song, don't get me wrong she is a talented singer, i personally think her voice would be too high in this instance ...... Oh and Tom Jones and chicane "stoned love" excellent choice lol
OMG i thought you were joking but no, you are serious, Cher would kill this song, but then again thats only my opinion, but where does it end? Whintney Houstoun singin Blue Monday, Brittney doing a rendition of True Faith, no my friend some things are best left alone....
tom jones( another bombastic voice ala cher) ALSO would be great for this too..have u heard his song with chicane "stoned in love" ..its amazing..look it up on you tube .theres even a live version up from TOP of the POPs
Calm, gentle and beautiful.
