I lived in the Philippines for 5 years, I can remember one day I heard a dog yelp from next door. i looked and was shocked to see the guy trying to hit the poor dog. Luckily the man was a bad hitter and hit the chain and broke it. Boy, I was so happy to see that dog run away. F*#@in owner brought back the dog and they ended up killing it anyways. Dog's aren't man's best friend. Some Americans taught of that and everyone believed it. Cows and horses helped men in war and in peace plowing fields and building rail roads. Just because Cows, Pigs, Horses don't express emotion doesn't unfairly make them lower than dogs. They are all equal, they can be used in various ways by their owners. They can be food too. It's a matter of choice.

@kha Eating dog meat has been part of Filipino Culture since 6000 yrs ago. Attempt to rewrite history were made during the American occupation in order to conform with the Colonial Master. Felix M. Keesing in his book Taming Philippines in the 1930's codified oral history. 6000 yr Indonesians and Malaysians who later became Filipinos used dog to help protect the farm and some for food specially during festivities. Today an estimated 40% of Filipinos will eat dog meat if available.

Dog is good to eat. I live in usa now. They give dog away for free! Just look classified newspaper, "Free Pets". In USA they have so much to eat, they give dog away FREE!!

Of all asians it's only the filipinos who gets intimidated by these evil humaniacs. The filipinos should be proud of their culture and heritage. They should tell those fuckers to stay out of their country. Tell them it's yer island. they should not let those humaniacs embarrarred the filipino race, it's time fer filipinos to smart up. i don't like hearing dogs suffer. The big ones may scare me a lot but i still love them cause they're alive and breathing.
i've been tricked 3 times~ and i actually ate a dog.. damn it's horrible!!! i don't wanna be rude and puke at their faces but tsk whats done is done.. i don't like it at all! I'm an animal person and my personality is somehow compared to a dog by most of my companions. and FYI not all filipinos eat dogs, please keep that in mind. :(

We don't mind you eating cats, dogs, rats, and anything you sick fucks can get your hands on. You are a barbaric breed we get that, we let it go. We just think its sick how you actually torture animals to "Induce" its flavor in the meat. If you're going to eat an animal I don't care what it is, at least humanely do it. Asians even eat animals that are still alive. No regard or respect for life whatsoever. For that reason alone, a smile goes on my face when a major tragedy happens to your kind.

@taylssxx its not sick, we' filipinos in tiny philippine islands are in total 96 million people population, and if we 'Tagay' or more likely beer sharing on a table, we absolutely need meat serving to table, it means it's traditional to eat dogs and those dogs aren't even breeded.. if you translate "PULUTAN" u'll know what im saying. and some of the reason why we eat dogs is that they bite people and get rabies and its an epidemic in philippines, what i mean is dogs in the streets. untrained

I lived in the Philippines for 5 years, I can remember one day I heard a dog yelp from next door. i looked and was shocked to see the guy trying to hit the poor dog. Luckily the man was a bad hitter and hit the chain and broke it. Boy, I was so happy to see that dog run away. F*#@in owner brought back the dog and they ended up killing it anyways. I shut my windows and cried. God what a terrible thing to do ever! God should punish those who do such a thing.

Read "12 Little Things", this is illegal & we should be obeying our laws, who can respect those who do not? Not all Filipinos are like this, visit the site of the PAWS and help change those who are. It is not economical to eat dog, it does not help your machismo and it is not tribal. Look up that information before using those lame excuses.
Stop ignoring the businesses which break the law. Report them to local police (get name) and PAWS and don't visit places like Baguio.

you can't bloody blame people why they do it.....there are bloody circumstances that can drive humans to do such things...don't bloody tell me during the Famine in europe that happened in the Medieval ages, people did not eat dogs or rats to survive? They even resort to cannibalism. Don,t directly judge something from what you see, look first on the circumstances surrounding it.

My wife is from the Philippines. She or her family has never eaten dog. There are people there who do. But you have to understand their hardships. Life is much harder there than it is here. People are starving. Try to be kind and understanding with your comments. They are trying to survive. Have you ever been hungry? Probably not. You do what you have to do to survive. I'm an American and I've eaten cat when I was in the military. You will do what you have to do to survive.

Why is it not "good" to eat dog. I love how people act all high and mighty and act like they are too good to eat the ordinary food that other people eat. Its even funnier when you realize that just 2 generations ago, their ancestors would have eaten almost anything or starve to death.
