maybe the character was just talking about poo like a fertilizer and the animators decided it fit perfectly for a fly that's talking about food and put him in this food episode....or maybe he's trying to explain why flies eat certain poo....or maybe he's a guy that actually eats poo.

i like animals.

Actually I think sometimes the people interviewed are told what kind of animal they're going to be and so they talk basically like that animal in order to be accurate. Either that or the person voicing the fly saw himself in an earleir episode and so found out that he was protrayed as a fly (I wonder whether he was insulted or amused).

I'd prefer a dog, any dog, even a wild dog like a wolf. (In case you haven't already guessed I'm a dog person despite liking all animals).
