  • Omg!!! Bro I am so sorry!!! Rip dog. Im sorry bro. Heal

  • @mancoolmancool Thanks...

  • Poor baby! My Pinkie had about 3 seizures, grand mal, and the vet said that pheno barb was very hard on them. We never figured out why she had them, and she never had another after that. Thankfully, we did not have to put her on meds. I feel for you!

  • @linven Thanks for the comment - Glad to hear Pinkie hasn't had another seizure!

  • Omg this is terrifying I am so sorry for your loss :'(

  • @TheMorgansBunny101 Thank you.

  • I was watching Water for elephants and the elephant Rosie got stabbed. I cannot stand to see animals suffer. like my dig fell off the couch and I was worried sick! aww poor dog!

  • This is very sad, But I'm curious why your Italian Greyhounds belly is so large?

  • @SEANKAKITRAK Buddy had Cushing's Disease. Makes the belly bloat out. He's not "fat". Vets said it was unrelated to seizures. Neurologist diagnosed him with a brain stem tumor a week before he died.

  • @jcstevegigs Oh I see, thanks for the info. I'm actually getting an IG puppy fairly soon . I hope something like this doesn't happen cuz it's very sad to watch. But I'll be prepared I suppose

  • @SEANKAKITRAK I wish you the best with your new puppy!

  • :(

  • @HiddenMammoth Thanks....it is sad

  • He Was A Cubby One, This Vid Just Broke My Heart.

  • @Jazzahlynn Thank you....he was the sweetest little guy.

  • my heart genuinely weeps for you and your sweet little dog. R.I.P

  • @moleymole100 Thank you...

  • =( rip

  • @MattSlo86 Thanks...

  • :'( I feel sorry 4 you my dog died when I was 7. I didn't know what was going on but it was terrible just knowing my dog died. I didn't go to school for 3 days because I was so heartbroken but I'm glad to see that other people care about their dog too. RIP Buddy and my dog Champ (Golden Retreiver)

  • @Y2K4LIFE1 Thank you - I feel bad for you too. I know you miss Champ...

  • This is so heartbreaking. My heart goes out to you and your sweet baby. You are a good Papa.

  • @KeavyMonster Thank you...

  • 24 seconds in and I burst out crying..

  • @theCAlebSwagg I'm sorry for that...it is sad to watch. To be honest, I haven't seen it in a long time. Thank you.

  • ok so i just typed that comment after watching the first 5 seconds... dude, this was EXACTLY the same as my maltese... spaz for 1 minute, rest for 2, then didn't know where the fuck he was for 10. Kills me.

  • aw dude that is so fucking sad. My gf and I are looking at an italian greyhound to replace her recently departed lapdog... I have two full greyhounds but would love a little iggy too.. but I had a maltese once that would suffer these seizures too.... this kills me seeing this man... fuck.

  • @Gazzz87 I hope you got your Iggy! They are the greatest dogs! Sorry to hear you've had some tough times too.

  • @jcstevegigs mate I swear to you, Not lying at all. My gorgeous female greyhound had two seizures EXACTLY the same as my maltese.... and the same here. she had two in 12 hours last week, out of the blue and none since... i REALLY hope it was just something she ate....

  • @Gazzz87 That's why I kept the vids posted, so others could see the similarities and know they aren't alone. I hope your girl doesn't have any more and that it was a fluke. If there's one thing I could do differently...I would have taken him to a neurologist right away. I wasted a lot of time with his vet who didn't have a lot of experience with seizures. Please go straight to a Neurologist if they continue - that's all they deal with every day! I hope your whole pack is doing well

  • @jcstevegigs Those seizures of my greyhound changed her personality slightly.... She will now lick my hand if i'm near here and not patting her (as opposed to nosing her head under my hand) and today for the first time ever, I heard her whimper (the same as my other grey does when he's bored) we were at the park just laying on the grass and she starts whimpering... it's very different for her and i'm not sure if I should be worried... but I have a dedicated greyhound vet 20 minutes away....

  • @Gazzz87 Yoiu're doing the right thing by paying attention to details. I kept a journal with Buddy. It's amazing how you forget the details as the days go by. Start writing things down...I hope she's ok - good to hear you have a Greyhound vet close by.

  • @jcstevegigs Hey mate, just touching base again. Lady (my female greyhound) has not had another seizure since those two she had a couple of months ago. Seems to have been a one-off, maybe something she ate? Either way, she's happy and full of life.

My girlfriend and I watched some reviews of Italian greyhounds, and they said that they like quieter homes.. That is NOT ours... music, parties, mates over - all playing with the greyhounds. We ended up adopting a little Japanese Spitz in need =)

  • @Gazzz87 Hey, man - That's great news! I'm sure it was a one time thing. Congrats on the new adoption. I recently adopted a Shiba Inu, another Japanese breed. He's a handful, but worth it. Good luck! Sounds like I need to hit one of your parties!!

  • @jcstevegigs haha, yeah my parties are good fun. Fireworks and all! (check out my vids) bit expensive coming to australia though. Good luck with your new dog man. I brought home some synthetic grass to line the kitchen tiles from the lounge to the back yard... when they get excited they skid on the tiles... never a good thing. injury waiting to happen!

  • @Gazzz87 Thanks - I'll check out the vids. Good idea to cover the tile, I've got little chewed up rugs all over the hardwoods.

  • how did this happen????? all of a sudden?

  • @xgunxstunx He fell from a bed the night before first seizure, but the Neurologist insisted it was just a coincidence and that he died from a combination of Cushing's Disease and a brain stem tumor. He could only walk in left-hand circles at the end. Apparently, that's a telltale sign of the tumor. I still can't help but wonder about the fall from the bed. It was new and had just been delivered and much taller. He jumped up, then down but underestimated and landed on his head.

  • @jcstevegigs Mate, I don't doubt it was a blow to the head that considerably shortened his life.

  • poor baby, you're such a goood papa!

  • @xobombiiies Thank you...

  • I have an iggy who also has seizures (especially early in the mornings). His are controlled with phenobarbital most of the time. He occasionally has breakthrough seizures..and a couple of cluster seizures, where he has to be taken to vet and be sedated until they stop. He is, othewise, healthy. I also have min pin who is diabetic and has seizures too. It is a very disturbing and helpless feeling when witnessing these events! My heart goes out to you.

  • @sandrabooboo My heart goes out to you too...sounds like you have your hands full. Thank you .

  • This is extremely sad. It's like 1:30 here and I'm close to tears. Sorry for your loss. I don't have an IG myself, but I'm thinking of adopting one. Losing a dog is terrible and it's just as horrible to watch one suffer .

Though it does seem like Buddy had a very loving 'dad', so he's lived a better life than many dogs.

  • @FriendsCallMeV Thank you, that means a lot.

  • damn , my condoilences , i also have an italian grayhound =\ r.i.p poor pup

  • @718LIGHTUP Thank you.

  • @babyp130 Sorry to hear that you are dealing with this too. Best of luck...Thanks for the message.

  • Thank You for putting this online. My Iggy twice has out of the blue fell out, not with spasms like Buddy but flopping like he can't walk. He would always be panting and I could not figure out what was wrong. I tried to film it so I could show the vet but know I know. He having a seizure. He also twitches in his sleep I thought he was having nightmares but now i'm thinking they were seizure episodes. I'm going to take him to the vet to get checked for this.

  • @renitadeshanne Thank you. Sounds like he's having Focal Seizures. Ask vet about that. I think all dogs twitch when they sleep and dream. Good luck - please let me know if I can help.

  • My Italian Greyhound has Seizures because of inbreeding. We were not smart and got him at a pet store. We had him on anti-seizure meds and he became crabby and his moody. Also after his seizures he was very exhausted and would sleep for a long time. I understand how you feel it's scary to watch your dog drool and flip around and have a seizure. Sorry for your loss.

  • @xspadrax Thank you. Sorry you're going through it too...

  • Aw I'm so sorry. I have two Italian Greyhounds and would hate if they had to go through this. They are such a gorgeous breed. RIP Buddy.

  • @maddierat9 They are great dogs...Hope yours stay healthy. Thank you.

  • Oh my heart broke watching this, you are a very caring owner, and my heart goes out to you xxx

  • @mxdoctor Thank you...

  • Did He die? Because ut says (R.I.P. Buddy)

  • @DANT3S1NFERN0 Yes, he did. Last January. He suffered through many seizures for 364 days.

  • Oh my gosh that was the saddest thing i've ever seen, so sorry for the loss :(

  • @leeannstairs Thank you....

  • @leeannstairs Thank you...

  • I've got a 6 year old IG who has occasional seizures, probably one every 6 months for about 3 minutes. Every time it happens its pure hell for me, but I've finally learned how to stay calm and keep her in one spot until shes done. The vet doesnt think its frequent enough to medicate her, so were just winging it for now. Im sorry you lost your buddy. Italian greyhounds are great, it just sucks alot of them have this problem.

  • @SkullCole13 Thanks for the comment. There were definitely down sides to the meds. Buddy's were too frequent and severe to ignore. I think that's the right decision too if they are that infrequent. Best of luck. Buddy also had cushing's disease which complicated things. IG's are the BEST!!

  • This is so sad :( What a great pet owner you are. So calm and caring.

  • @roogirl1824 Thanks, I only did what anyone would have done.

  • I dog-sit for a close friend and her dog has seizures also, it's scary....

  • It hurt my heart to watch this. You did everything you could and stayed calm...

  • @maromikun Thank you...

  • Thank you for posting. It's absolutely crushing to watch, but it may save a dog's life. Possibly mine. At my place, we laugh when our IG leaps off the back of the couch and on and off the counter tops. But, this vid is a serious dose of reality and I'm not taking chances anymore. Glad that you had some good years with Buddy. Thx again & God bless.

  • @SlightlyDazed7 Wow - That's exactly why I keep the videos up. I'm glad you're going to watch where your IG jumps from. They are fearless and can also break a leg fairly easy jumping like that. I hope you enjoy many many years together! Thank you.

  • I know exactly how you feel...my big mutt (also named Buddy) has been having seizures for the past few years, about every 3-4 months randomly. The doctors said there was nothing they could do, so when it happens I just make him lay down on the floor (since he usually falls over and tries to get up) and cover him with a blanket. They said he's in good health, and we can't figure out why this is happening, since he didn't hit his head or anything.

I'm so sorry for your loss. :(

  • @Kagome811 Thank you...I hope you find some answers for your Buddy. Until then, you're doing the right thing.

  • one of the few dog videos i can't press the like button.....rip buddy

  • @AnaruXII I understand that...Thanks.

  • i almost cried watching this :( i feel for u man

  • @MW2killed I haven't watched it in a long time for that reason. I keep them up hoping they will help someone else someday...

  • I have an IG and your Buddy is gorgeous. I hope and pray that you find some answers (((hugs)))

  • @VloggerCat Thank you! Buddy died last January after a long year of seizures.

  • @LimeP1nk Thank you

  • I actually started crying while watching this, I just thought what if this was happening to my sweet dog.. :( I'm so sorry for your loss

  • @MimZuU Thank You! It was a tough year.

  • I'm so sorry about your loss. I have an IG Mix and i love her so much. I can't imagine. MY condolences. I hope mine never gets seizures but this video is a great reference for what to watch for and do if it ever happens. Thank you for posting this :)

  • @MissGoddessTNess Thank you!

  • I hope he's ok ! I feel so bad I wish luck to them both.

  • @sierakaltenbach Buddy died last January....but, Thank you.

  • @jcstevegigs Im super sorry but maybe it was just better for the dog to go to heaven!

  • The tone of your voice and anxious breathing SCREAMS how much you love this dog and how much you care for Buddy. It's really hard to watch but it feels good to know he is in such loving hands. I wish you both the very best and pray Buddy is OK.

  • @axledobe Thank you, I always felt like I was having one with him. Sadly, he died last January. He put up a good fight for a year. It was just too much.

  • o my god good luck to you both.. this is hard to wach but good luck to you...

  • @RAMDOGI2 Thank you...my little guy didn't make it. He was 9

  • Comment removed

  • Oh poor baby. At least he is in great hands, you love him and are doing everything you can for him and I admire you so much! I just read a story about a man that hit his greyhound in the head for using the bathroom indoors and caused it to start seizing , and do you know what he did? He dumped it out in the street, just got rid of it. Luckily a Iggy Rescue found him and are caring for him now. I pray for you baby to get well and be happy with you forever!

  • @TylerTheWeirdo Thank you...that's a terrible story, I'm glad he was found.

  • I work at a 'holistic' pet food store which also sells supplements. We have had great success with a supplement by Animals' Apawthecary called Tranquility Blend for dogs with seizures. The skullcap herb calms the nervous system.

The other great success we've had with a myriad of dog health issues (including for my own Italian Greyhound's issues) has been the raw food diet. Since you're already interested in premium dog foods, please look into Primal Pet foods. Good luck!

  • @ornerybird Thank you...it's too late for Buddy, but feel free to post your ideas for others to read. That's why I left videos up.

  • I have a friend who has an Iggie with seizures. She gives him just a little bit of glucose gel in his mouth, and he comes right of it. I suggest you try this, it doesn't hurt them at all.

  • My heart breaks for you and him having to go through this. I have two wonderful iggies and worked with adults with disabilities. The worst episode I had to witness was in a Wendy's and I simply bawled watching this video and remembering how scary seizures are for someone (some doggy) you care deeply about.

  • @all4mj Thank you....I'm sorry if this brought back those painful memories. I'm leaving these up so others know they aren't alone. I felt alone after the first one. I met some great, helpful people through these videos.

  • God bless you and any other pet owners who have pets with this condition. It's nice to see how you all care for them............

  • @bears1010 Thank you.

  • this is so sad and very sorry this is happening. i would be so sad and scared. i wish you the best

  • @brunotheboxer1 Thank you...sadly Buddy died back in Jan - He had just turned 9

  • im so sorry. this is completely heartbreaking to watch. he looked like a very handsome boy <3

  • @jessin128 Thank you...

  • @jessin128 Thank you.

  • this is sad

  • I had to hold my little guy tight when I saw this. I would never wish this upon any Iggy or any dog. Heartbreaking! :(

  • @Merrydothe It was hard to go through. Buddy had over 150 of these before he died. Can you imagine that? Nothing worked to stop them. Hold that little guy tight!

  • OMG I just experienced my second seizure with my dog Chapin, this one lasted over 3 mins and I got him from the rescue so I am not sure where to turn...I am single and own 2 Italian greyhounds, was laid off my job 4 months ago so funds are a problem. please help what can I do?

  • @clarity4now I'm sorry you are going through it too. It can be expensive. Have you tried Phenobarbitol? Or Potassium Bromide? Ask your vet. If I could have done one thing sooner, it would have been to take him to a Neurologist right away. I wasted a lot of time with my local vet who was over his head. Hang in there - I know what you're going through.

  • I love this breed so much, it is heartbreaking... hope things will get better!

  • wow..this really brought tears to my eyes. it must be heartbreaking for you and it's heartbreaking to watch too. stay strong and stay by her side. God bless!xxx

  • I have an Iggy and this absolutely broke my heart - God bless you for giving him a wonderful home and a life full of love.

  • @glavinwife Thank you...

  • God bless, man. It's really too hard to watch.

  • @triplexxxsatyr I know...Thank you

  • I wish to pass my condolences on your loss. There's no doubt in my mind that Buddy was taken cared of by the finest owner in the world. He is truly blessed to have you by his side.

If I may, I will light a candle at a Sunday Mass in his honor.

    Peace.

  • @triplexxxsatyr Thank you for your kind words, that would be nice.

  • poor guy

  • Heartbreaking, I feel your pain. I offer suggestions and/or recommendations for (holistic-organic-raw) dog food, treats, etc.Im highly knowledgeable in pet dog care. Just drop me a message.

  • This brought tears to my eyes as well; though I don't have an italian greyhound, I lost a rat in early January. He had seizures of this type as well, and he suffered from spinal degeneration that left him paralyzed in his back legs, and eventually, paralyzed his lungs and heart.

I realized that the only thing you can really do is be there for them, though it's hard… I hated seeing him like that, and I hate that he left so early. I'll miss him forever.

  • I'm very sorry for your loss. She was a very beautiful dog

  • That is so, so sad, but Buddy is no longer in any pain. We had to put down our dog Sheba on 1/6/11...she had a tumor in her nasal cavity and was losing her vision. At the rate the tumor was spreading it was only a matter of time before the seizures started. We felt the best thing for her was to give her the rest she needed...she is missed a lot.

  • I haven't watched this in a while....just did again and the tears came flowing again. I hope in some way this will be helpful to someone out there. Sometimes I think I should take it down, but if it helps anyone understand what a Grand Mal seizure is and that they are not alone, I will keep it up.

You were such a strong boy, Buddy! Thank you for making my life better and teaching me lessons of patients and love. Daddy will never forget you............

  • man..... that tears me up

  • @CSINYer Thank you. It's been hard and I miss him everyday. I'm sure your little babies will be fine. Although it does occur in IG's, it's still considered rare. Treasure every moment though...

  • This video is so heartbreaking it brought tears to my eyes. I have two of my own IG's, even though their not close to old age, i dread the day if they start having seizures. Im so sorry about your loss but you did all you could to help. I know i would be lost without my babies.

  • @DayColnc...please send me an email so we can talk easier, ok?

    jcstevegigs@yahoo.com

I want to help if I can.

  • Hello, I'm so so sad for you, my Italian Greyhound Cowboy, has had seizures, about one every three months for about a year now. He was just diagnosed with Cushing's he has also just turned 9 years old. Cowboy looks just like your Buddy... Any advice? My Vet was very slow on the go with the Cushing's which seemed so simple of a diagnosis. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • Sadly, Buddy passed away on 1/13/11 He had been diagnosed with Cushing's Disease and a brain stem tumor which eventually made him walk in left hand circles. The Neurologist wasn't sure if the seizures were related or just a coincidence. He had just turned 9 on Christmas. I'll miss you forever, Buddy....

  • XI0blivionII, please let me know if I can help you. I now have a lot if experience with seizures. Buddy's been to a Neurologist and much better now. Only 2 in November vs. 40 in October!! Taking Zonisamide. He also has Cushing's Disease.

  • This is so heartbreaking to watch. My IG had her first seizures this week. She started developing cataracts and slowly went blind permanently when she was around 8. She is now 12. She got around the house great and we never worried about her. She fell down the steps a last week and a few days ago started having seizures. Very mild compare to this. I'm just worried since she gets all dizzy afterward and is blind to begin with. Best of luck to both of you. You know just what to do to help him. :)

  • It's hard when you can't be home. I built a special pen for him. It is carpeted on the walls and because he's already on the floor he can't fall off the bed couch or chair. My Buddy has also been diagnosed with Cushings Disease. I'm still experimenting with Meds for the seizures and Cushing's. Not sure if they are related . I hope your IG finds some relief.

  • My 10 year old Iggy has had seizers from when he was about 6 months old.

I do not put him on any drugs, but his seizers aren't as bad as you're iggy but close,my dog gets them about ever month or so.

I heard it's common in this breed.

I do the same thing to comfort my dog too but I'm not home all day so I worry about him.

  • thats saddddd :(

  • Thank you for the comments and concern. The fall happened in January. I haven't had any MRI or CT scan because my Vet was afraid to out him under Anesthesia. Even if they found something on his brain...What could they do about it?

  • I agree that a CT should be done since you said this happened right after the fall. Poor sweet Buddy. This broke my heart to watch this, but I'm hoping by your posting it will help lead you in the right direction to help Buddy. Will keep him in my prayers.

  • Have they done a CT scan for any swelling due to the fall to the floor? These seizures are very bad...poor baby. Depending on where you live, is there a veterinary teaching hospital he could be taken to? With injury related seizures there could be more going on than meets the eye where the pheno barb will just put a bandaid on the cause.
