Sorry I don't care for hybrid vehicles because of the dangerous heavy metals and toxic chemicals used to make the batteries. Get a Geo Metro or a Smart car that are actually are environmentally friendly.
Prius is nice. But I have a different perspective on it than most. I'm posting from Albuquerque, NM after having driven my 1988 Chevy Sprint Metro here from Oklahoma City. I was not at all surprised to have gotten 60.4 mpg. I take that kind of thing for granted. I'm really glad the Prius and Insight are there for folks with different tastes than me. I test drove an Insight the other day and it's a good car. But I'm looking forward to getting *another* 340,000 miles out of my trusty Sprint. :-)
unintended acceleration kills, protect our childern and know the facts about toyotas unintended acceleration and what too do if your toyota races out of control, god bless the usa
Maybe if yo drive like a snail - when you drive normal it get no more then 40mpg
By the way if you would do some calculations you would know that payback time for Prius hybrid is 14.5 years compared to non hybrid Prius (with $3.50 gas price)...10y. with $5.00 (car will ned to be junked after 10 due to battery life)
That was just calculating extra price you pay vs gas savings...adding cost of ownership and battery life = same as owning H2
@andbudzi I drove from Atlanta, GA to Miami, FL (701 miles) averaging 82 mph (fast considering 200 miles was on roads I was restricted to 45 on) and averaged 43 mpg. Now 43 mpg is not impressive, but it is for a car that I drove almost 300 miles in the 90-110 mph range. Driving normally, ie. <15 over the speed limit I can easily get 44-47 mpg, and I have a friend who tops that by 5 and certainly does not drive slower than myself.
good luck with that. get ready to spend some money.
they do have the tech i believe, but u cant find it in some store. your going to have to research it yourself, and find where you can buy the parts. if your interested, look up some H20 power cars, japan already has one
plug-in kit will be available (Lithium battery pack with an autonomy at least 70 km without Co2 emissions)..however in fact, this is the most ecological car in the world, even without the plug-in kit..Toyota Prius is the future, now.
When they make one plug-in then sign me up! This would allow me to practically never buy gas again for my short daily commute (~22 miles RT). Until then I could care less...

worse for the environment than a hummer...look it up.

@thewhox56 yes... the actual co2 produced to make the car, if you drive them about 30,000 miles the prius wins

I agree with Novaksir 100%. When they sell plug in cars...sign me up. If Honda sells it first...they get my money.
I won't buy another damn car that runs strickly on gasoline.
