  • if your like me and you don't like to read the subtitles...or don't speak Japanese for the matter...stick to the American version with Raymond Burr

  • it's a good film and all, but... I've never been able to sit through the whole Japanese version ... to lazy to read the subtitles

  • i saw the american version and i was all like O-O wen godzilla like disinagrates at the end

  • This version will always remain as the better one unlike the '98 remake.

  • Man, there is everything here on youtube

  • thank god this was in closed captioning. I wouldn't have understood any of it.

  • gojira the nuclear night mare if hell could get up and walk around it would be him

  • godzilla is a monster that terrorizes both land and sea, but japan even the japanese armed forces are no match for him

  • @kyawmawthu exactly i hope the legendary pictures film captures just how scary Godzilla is not just through his actions but through a visual sense as well i mean he should have a look thats almost exactly the same in the shape of the body and height subtle changes like spikes the teeth and the eyes but he should have a hills have eyes feel to him grotesque ghastly but recognizable

  • i wanna see this version but was it ever subtitled or put onto dvd, anyone?

  • @MrHEC381991

Sure it was, I own the "Special Edition" but there's a normal dvd as well

At least around here (Sweden) in PAL version

  • GODZIRRA!

  • 0:06

  • its actually 'gojira'

  • The Japanese have created a NEW monster at Fukushima. It's even more deadly than Godzilla. Only this time it's scarier because it's invisible!

  • If I absolutely had to choose my own death, I would love to be killed by a real life Godzilla. At least I would get to see my childhood fantasy come true... and then die happy :) lol

  • Can anyone gife link to Remaked godzilla movie (american)

  • love to see puke faced humanoids cities in ruins... oh, sweet joy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hmm godzilla with a small head ?????

  • Best Movie Of All Time.

  • That said that in the remake, Godzilla will fight at least one or two monsters! My trust relies on Legendary Pictures.

  • i bet you god has seen this movie over a billion times. i guarantee it.

  • they should remake it with the original roar, scary costume of godzilla, the scary music, and those destructive action.and 3D

  • They should just remake this in order to let the people of our generation to know the original Godzilla. Heartless, destructive and bad ass \m/

  • Japan should use this to promote tourism. "Come to Japan; we have beautiful weather, a fascinating history and AGGHHHHHHH!"

  • If there really is an apocalypse in 2012...PLEASE let it be from giant monsters.

  • @ThinAsAPin good not zombies cause they pop out any where

  • @ThinAsAPin fukc yes if theres any way i wanna go out ifs from monsters fighting causeing global chaos around the fucking planet

  • Ugh!! I hate Black and white movies/shows, I can't barely see anything. :(

  • @ReonNeon this movie wouldn't have worked in color.

  • @ReonNeon That's part of the pyschological effect bro ... appreciate it...

  • i bought this today

  • Did I see a Starbucks coffee in the first scene?

  • THIS MOVIE IS AWESOME!!! Yes, it's old, but still, no one fucks around with the ORIGINAL godzilla!

  • I remember seeing this on the late late late show when I was a kid.

Scared the hell out of me.

  • There's a reason he's King of the Monsters...Oh no there goes Tokyo...Godzilla

  • The japenize went all out when they made this movie. The first of how many Godzie films? I loved them growing up & still do!

  • シリアスなんだな

  • Never knew Nick Fury's Japanese version is in the original Godzilla. XP But I have to say the original version is very grim.

  • Even though it's cheaply made- well you'd expect this from a country that was still recovering from the war- it's still a classic.

  • Reminds me of my childhood. I used to go to the videostore every weekend as a kid and rent Godzilla movies. I remember sometimes I got sick of the people talking so I'd fast forward to Godzilla lol.

  • when i saw it on blu ray i was amazed this is the best movie since king kong!

  • movies in that past weren't scary now movies like Saw that's fear.

  • I don't know what version of godzilla I watched yesterday. A Mother & young godzillas in the remote island with 2 giant ants + giand spider. Is somebody knows that?

  • @joyeuxnoel son of godzilla

  • @joyeuxnoel son of godzilla: a much more lighthearted movie aimed towards a wider audience.

  • The best godzilla film made.

  • I read somewhere that scenes featuring Raymond Burr (Perry Mason) were added to the Godzilla movie when it was released to American theaters.

  • Sort of. The original film was a large moneymaker in Japan, so a small group of independent American producers picked the film up for US distribution. They didn't think it would make money here subtitled, so they added the Steve Martin character (played by Burr) and filmed him alongside stand-ins for the original Japanese cast. Also, some dialogue was dubbed and the original storyline was slightly altered, cutting scenes (and obviously adding some as well). That came out in America in 1956.

  • This movie scared me so much as a kid that dad would have to sleep on the couch when I would watch it on the late night horror show! The original Zilla will always be the best.

  • One of the greatest films of all time. It's the Citizen Kane of Japan!

  • This is always going to be what I think of when I hear "Godzilla"; towers falling, primal cries of rage, "a sea of fire". It's a hope in my heart that we will again get t see a Godzilla like this. I think the world is ready to see how Godzilla should be done.

    LONG LIVE THE KING!!!!! =D

  • I saw this film a year back at the American Museum of the Moving Image.

They said that Godzilla's roar was made by rubbing a rough glove over the strings of either an upright bass, or a cello, I don't remember which.

Great film, and better than the Raymond Burr version.

  • great movie, but Godzilla should lost his stuff in all thsos sequels from being a evey day monster stoping on Japan to being a Superhero in the 70's.

This WAS Godzilla, anything that came after this classic is not the real deal imo.

  • Oops!! I'm sorry, Dude! I wanted to give you a good comment on what you said, but I clicked the other one by accident! Sorry, man! O.O

  • looks nice as from the 54 period, but it wud have been cool if they added his roar at the end....ah well, cool trailer tho ^^

  • This movie was played when i was born Godzila is Awesome And King Kong sucks

  • this movie was made in 1954 if you havent noticed. Things are going to look fake after 50 years. Also its not a robot its a rubber suit.

  • @sdsouthpark1234

Also understand that Japan was very poor and recovering from a war when this was made, so it's bound to look cheap. However, it's still a classic.

  • @Glenn1967ful

very true, this is 54', not 2000 with high-cut technology and graphics. Look at nintendo from back then too catalinaga lolz

  • @jerrybake458

it is still a good film. I think a lot of modern films spend a fortune on special effects to cover up bad acting and mediocre plots. Mind you Godzilla was never known for its Shakespeare style acting LOL.

  • My friend, it MAY look easy, but let me tell you that "Suitamation" (a.k.a. "The Man In The Monster Suit") is hardass work, and an Artform. Those suits weigh between 150-200 lbs. And, they are hot as hell. Plus, the actor had to move at quick speed with the camera cranked fast, so when it played back, it looked like he was moving heavy and slow. So, before you patronize, give Harou Nakajima-sensei big props for doing Godzilla for (an amazing) 18 YEARS!!!!

  • GODZILLA is THE KING!

  • No Question He's The King of Kings.

  • incectsaurs ahhhh!!!!!!

  • This was an incomparable Godzilla movie. I be of the same mind with you; pytko3.

  • the first time i saw this movie i was drunk and understood everything....then i realized it was a real fake monster....besides i am too shallow to be frightened

  • Godzilla frightens me for real.

It's only a matter of time before he arises from his watery domain and crushes or burns us all!

  • @effexor well if its gonna happen its gonna be soon, theres enough nuclear waste in the ocean now

  • @zinckoff yeah but i guess it'll be no problem, modern weapons will bring him down easily :B

  • @effexor Gammera should rescue us!

  • @timray99 you are so stupid to say that it is a fake monster YES YOU ARE DRUNK TO THINK OF THAT AND ALSO SOBER TO THINK THAT IS IT FAKE THE CONCLUSION YOU ARE STUPID lol

  • the Japanese have the best toilets on earth, butt washing wonders!

  • epic

  • The original godzilla (japanese version) is actually a quite scary movie. But the american version was edited and cut down on the violence and LOTS of the disturbing scenes/dialogue. LONG LIVE THE KING OF MONSTERS...GOJIRA!!!!

  • I have the original "Gojira" its not that bad. The Original script was quite gory. When Godzilla first appears with his head over the mountain, there was supposed to be half a cow in his mouth, but they cut it out.

  • GODZILLA ROCKS!!

  • He STOMPS on the Terra!

  • after the ww2, the japanese rebuild the japan only in ten years?

  • cuz we helped them

  • so you Americans helped German Vietnam and Iraq?

  • ur rong most of da kids r afraid of living dolls or dummies like chucky slappy and others because many of my classmates r afraid of dolls that in night it looks like if they were staring you my bad my little sis has many of them in her room and her room is just in front of mine!!!!!!

  • Are you referring to Japanese children or American? Big difference! American children watch so much violence on TV, that they are conditioned to lack fear. This has even removed natural fear. Some children do not even have common sense to run in face of danger. I can only agree that everyone is afraid of "dummies or baka people ". I am glad I had good childhood and good sense to know true danger. But , living dolls are just plastic. It is people who are most dangerous... Godzilla's cool !

  • As a kid I always felt some giant monster would crush my home and kill me while I slept. Good imaginary fear. Now kids don't fear anything...

What a shame. I do love these movies though, no multimillion dollar budgets.

  • Kids today with their modern video games and rock music! Don't know how good they have it!

    WHIPPERSNAPPERS!!!!

  • THIS IS ONE OF THE GREATEST MOVIES EVER MADE! alot of people say it was so stupid and said acting and "graphics" or "animation" was horrible. but what they dont get is that this was 1954, and it was made in Japan, movies were new to them!of course there wernt gonna be any Tom Hank actors or Stevin Speilsburg directors back then. in 1954 these graphics and props were considerd amazing and legendary! SO U PEOPLE WHO HATE THIS BECAUSE OF ITS "POOR GRAPHICS" SHUT UP! IT WAS 1954!

  • True when Willis O'Brien made one of his dino movies in the thirties ppl thought they were seeing real dinos, and it scared the crap out of them!!!

  • lol, imagine the cgi technology 50 years from now, thatl scare the crap out of me @_@, and lol to the cow, i gotta find the original non american Gorjira.

  • yea the cow scene never made it to the Japanese version or the American version, but go to ebay and you will find it on ther

  • cool, thanks, MOO!

  • best movie ever FUCKING MADE

  • I WANNA WATCH THIS SO BAAHAHAD!!

  • at the end the professor says ''this is not the last godzilla''

  • And he was right.

  • Man I miss when movies were actually good!

  • One of the greatest films of all time. The original Japanese version makes more sense and explains things left out in the U.S. version. The clock scene was left out. The scene with a mother telling her child that they were going to see daddy soon as the city crumbles around them was left out. The Japanese version was more of an atomic age horror film nightmare. AWESOME!!! Didn't care for the U.S.version Raymond Burr fill-ins that much. Though, Raymond Burr explained things as only he could do.

  • atomic bombs are really bad.

  • UUUhhhh, mattiah, you really think?? =Stefan=

  • Fuck the atomic bombs!!

  • if it was for the bombs billions of people would of dead you stuborn jackass

  • sweeeet i gotta learn about this in french class lolll

  • the ultimate anti-hero

  • i agree Godzilla is the greatest anti hero or hero of them all!

  • Great post!

  • miss momoko so beautiful !!this japanese beauty win the monster(atomic bomb)!

  • very funny!

  • I've seen both versions, the original and the Americanised one. I like them both, but I find the Japanese original slightly better. As the same time, You gotta give the other some big credit because it introduced the monster outside of Japan and Korea

  • I have to.

  • greatest of all time!!!!!

  • a masterpice

  • これが我が国のゴジラの最初の予告編だ!

This is our country's first Godzilla trailer!

  • awacs, the first Godzilla was a work of art. I had nightmares for months after seeing it in the theater. But, the follow ons were nothing but crap. Even the first Rodan was terrorizing. What happened to your creative geniuoses?? You made such great movies. Oh, remember the "Phantom Agents"?? And the original "Ultra Man"? Hayata of the Science Patrol. =Stefan=

  • I agree. Most of the sequels were not that great; some of them are even campy. But, don't forget G.M.K. Giant Monsters All-Out Attack from 2001 by Shusuke Kaneko. That film was great and Gojira was menacing with those all-white eyes. He purposely took human lives in that film. I also enjoyed a couple films from the 60's: Mothra vs. Gojira (1964) and Ghidorah (1965). Biollante was cool because of the great monster design of her. Return of Gojira from 1984 was a dark film too. 2000 Millenium ok.

  • I'd say that all the 60-70's godzilla movies are average the 85-95 and 1999-2004 godzilla movies are fantastic movies that brought Godzilla back and bad to hte bone

  • 85-95 movies were awesome. But the 1999-2004 films were terrible, especially Final Wars.

  • これが我が国のゴジラの予告編だ!

This is our country's Godzilla trailar!
