my favourite ween song. also the first i ever heard. obviously things like 'help me scrape the mucus off my brain' make me laugh my ass off, but on those rare occasions they write sincere songs (although 'stay forever' is almost certainly an elaborate parody of something i've not clocked yet, much like 'baby bitch' is an eerily close foretelling of what much of elliott smith's work would sound like) they're more often than not absolute heartbreakers.....'what deaner was talking about' as well...
This was the first ween song I ever heard. They did such a good job I thought it was serious. This was "our song" then I realized she didn't like me and I was a crazy stalker. Now, it all makes sense and I look back and laugh.
Ween is amazing. They started off with batshit insane and silly albums like "The Pod" and "God Ween Satan: The Oneness" from a decade prior and led up to "White Pepper," a 70's radio staple tribute album. This song is absolutely true MOR radio, and coming from a band whose first song off their first album was titled "You Fucked Up," it's quite a pleasant mindscrew ;-)
@paulodooby I hear you, friendo. I was the same myself for many moons. Elitist prick that I was! I'm making up for lost time. "push" still makes me feel a wee bit peculiar every time I hear it though
@paulodooby Get Chocolate and Cheese for diversity. That thing is amazing. Most of the more recent albums are kinda themed.12 Golden Country Greats is or was 10 country songs (mostly hilarious parodies) The Mollusk and White Pepper are great standalone albums.Painting the Town Brown is a great live album. The DVD is a must for any fans.Ween are very very gifted AND extremely funny.. The early albums are batshit crazy. :)
@BevisFriend2010 well pur guava and chic n cheese have teh largest variaty,, some who never heard can swear every song is diffrent band,, and THAT is tallent,, thats wht makes ween god
The fact that Ween can make something as catchy as this and something as horrifyingly rad as Mourning Glory proves they're one of the best bands of the past 50 years.
@BevisFriend2010 None of my Ween videos have any dislikes, and unless someone's asking for a curb stompin' then that's the way it's gonna stay. Unintentional rhymes are fun.
my boyfriend who is a huge ween fan, turned to me and told me that this was the song that he wanted to dedicate to me. it was in that moment i knew that i loved him and i'd met my soulmate.
I absolutely love this song. I thought I had heard all of this wonderful album a hundred times but this one song was mysteriously missing... Now I just cannot get enough of it.
i once listened to this song right after finding my girlfriend sleeping with another man (or just after, pulling on her clothes.) then, i left. i didn't choose it. it was already in the tape player in my car. still. kinda stuck. her, there; that moment. rising sun in my eyes. driving home. will always be. this song.
What really makes me feel like the human race is lost is people would rather listen to pitch corrected absolute garbage rather than the genius which Ween has exuded since the mid-80's. It's a sad affair when the youth has been corrupted away from great music. Makes me want to live on the peak of a mountain to myself as a Ween guru. If some come seeking truth, I'll give it.
@manmanguy That's why you make your kids listen to it. They'll love it when they get older whether they want to or not. That's why I love most of the music I love today.
@manmanguy There has always been a lot of garbage that people have accepted with open arms, more so now than ever. But the youth has not been completely brainwashed as I and other people my age (17ish) do not accept that popular music today is good or even has a shred of talent put into it. People will like whatever makes them happy; even if it means listening to a song that's lyrics consist of only three words.
@dnbjedi Agreed. A sense of humor is the critical kiss of death. Look at 'Weird' Al Yankovic--musical savant extraordinaire--same fate as Ween: cult status.
Good tune.. I like putting this on early in the morning, putting on a big old dirty coat, jumping into a truck, and acting like I'm the unwitting protagonist at the beginning of an epic action film.
