Can anyone confirm that the dark-haired lass is Liverpudlian Jean Owen, better known later as Samantha Jones, with a string of recordings through the sixties (and now available on CD)?
@RachieLooLovesYou she's an elegant lovely looking lass! did she marry anyone famous as the other ladies in the group did? and is she still singing solo or with others?
@stafylides hey...and I know she is! and I dont think she did...I think she's still quite wealthy though :) She had a fall out with the family so I've never met her...but Im going to write her a letter and hopefully talk to her! :-)
Here's a question: which one came first, 'Fools Rush In' by Ricky Nelson, or this great track? The rhythm is exactly the same...wow, I love this track by these cute girls and in all my life (until Youbube) I had NEVER heard of the Vernon Girls or any of their recordings. Thanks for posting!
@stafylides Joyce Smith - born Joyce Baker married Marty Wilde and is the mother of Kim Wilde. Incidentally Vicki Haseman married Joe Brown, and is consequently the mother of the delectable Sam Brown.
@rjinblack1970 Thank you for the info, and as such, it has re-freshened my memory cos I knew this a long time ago (I am the same age as Kim) and had forgotten it!! middle age senility !!!
@rjinblack1970 Thank you for the info. Can you rent vids on YouTube for free? Many years ago, I saw a British film on TVcalled "Just for Fun" made in the early 60's, Joe Brown, Kenny Lynch, Tommy Steele and The Vernon Girls had a guest spot in the film. D'you remember it?
@stafylides I'm afraid not. Might turn up on Yesterday or Sky Arts 1 at some point. They've shown a mid-60's pop show made for US TV with Millie, The Allisons and a few others. It's in colour inidentally.
