  • how fast is the horse?

  • Awh that cute coz I love horses -3

  • holy crap that horse is fast!!

  • Thats cool but i wonder how many horses fell or tripped on that thing

  • how fast did that get to? hes so pretty!

  • Im a treadmill operator in Newzealand. Its a fact that Horse behaviour will always be a very subjective science. There will always be those who believe they have a better understanding of the Equine than their peers.

When the High Speed treadmill is thrown into the mix it is often just to much of a brain overload for a lot of people to process rationally. The result is that these confused people have no option but to attack. Its important to remember to not be discouaraged by them.

  • I like it!!!

  • Wow that horse can run! he even kick up his heels in pure joy! id love to see him run in a feild!

  • Thanks for posting I like it

  • liek seriously. That horse loves to run. When he picked up speed, it was like he was sayin, let me loose!!! Great attitude he has, lol.

  • Nothing like watching a horse that LOVEs to run! This lil guy seems to love it!

  • would you rather have the horse run in a field, fall and break it's leg? They are trying to diagnose it with the lest likely chance of injury, not torture it.

  • looked at 0:12. the horse swashed its tail and gave a lovely buck. that's horse happiness.

  • @newcomer9747 he did a lead change thats why

  • maybe you should look into it before assuming things. They have safety harnesses in front of him. So when they trip, they can get themselves back up before hurting themselves. It's not harming the horses in anyway.

  • These are built specifically for horses and build to gallop near top speed on (horses can run up to 45 mph). They are build with proper footing so it's not too hard, nor too soft. Being built FOR horses means they expect accidents--they're build for safety so when a horse does have an accident, the machine will react accordingly which lets the horse recover from it naturally. The horses are also introduced very slowly. They do not go fast until they are ready to do so. Many, many uses.

  • wow, beautiful horse. He looks like he's going so fast and happy too!

  • wow he was going pretty fast and was having fun

  • wow he was going sooo fast, how long do u run him like that?

  • lol good thing heswearing saftey harnesses or that wud suck if he fell

  • Wow he was going really fast! Even bucked a little xD

  • wow some people think everything is cruel or wronge. I think all the big vet schools use this OSU does. most horses are ran on a tredmill to help locate a problem with breathing/ lungs, or leg issues. same thing when a doctor ask you to run a tredmill in a hospital its called controlled environment. if a horse stumbled or fell on the tredmill he'd be safer as it would push him backwards instead of tumbling and rolling in a field.

  • he look happy

  • ya i would like take off on the treadmil and be like whoohoo im taking off while im still in place! wheeeee! :P

  • wow. he was going pretty fast for quite awhile. i bet he was tired. i hope you gave him a break!

  • I think this is a very interesting piece of work :] But just out of sheer curiosity, nothing negative, what would happen if the horse were to trip or stumble? I honestly do think that this is a great tool, and what you guys are doing is for the best.

  • Thats really cool, so that horse is a test subject? One of my friends horses was sent to one of the collages for something like that.

  • oh wow. How long do you make them run that fast!?

  • its so cute when he changes his lead

  • ive gone that fast b4 on a horse...just not on a treadmill

  • I've alway seen this as pretty cruel, coz of if the horse was to fall or summin?

BUT>> about 2 months back our pony was kicked in the feild, just above his front right knee, severing one of his ligaments!

He had a months box rest and now is in the feild.

Would a treadmill help him get back to fitness??

He's only just turned 4 and the vet is extremely pleased wiv his progress, however has not mentioned a treadmill YET!

    What do you think??

    xx

  • wow look at him run, he's drop dead Beautiful :D i'd love to ride something that fast and in control of itself ^^ Look like he might outrun the treadmill lol

  • He's beautiful.

I always enjoy the treadmill work.

    Even though its sooo loud.

  • i think its awesome..i was just there today picking up my stallion copper that got castrated..cornell is an amazing place! (plus..coppers surgeon was quite dreamy) ;)

  • Great video! I'm not if this was done at Cornell, but they put a horse on a treadmill and had him go through his paces while looking at his lungs, trachea, etc. with an endoscope.

  • not sure*

  • wow that was cool you know i think some go even faster than that on the racetrack i go to the races evey weekend with my father and we sit right on the finish line its soo cool!

  • look at him gooo

  • sweet! i always wanted to see something like this!

  • I wonder if he's upset that with all that work, he's still not going anywhere!

  • The new place I'm boarding my horse at has oneof these-love it! We obviously don't use it for galloping and you need to pencil in an appointment and it's supervised, it's used mainly for long trot and canter sessions for endurance. The place rehabs race-horses and it's very popular in bringing a horse back from an injury. So far there have been no issues yet. They're talking about getting building aquatic therapy pool in the future also-hope I'm still around to use it!

  • Looks like he changed leads also when he did that bucky/hop thing. I wish my horse could run like that! :D

  • Hmm, I wonder if it is possible to ride a horse on the treadmill... if so... I would enjoy that! XD The horse as a preety nice stride, and can streach easaly it looks like. Lol, his little bucky thing, is telling you he is having fun!

PS- Good luck at the Vet school! :)

  • lol you guys at 12 seconds he changed leads

    gorgeous horse

  • that pace he gets to is only 2/3rd of his top speed, i don't see why ppl think thats PUSHING him to perform...

  • no, it was changing leads and speeds and stride lengths. you obviously know nothing about a running horse, blazinghot18 and blondiegirl417

  • why was he having tests for, is he ok? i dont think that is cruel, if he was in pain, stuck or sick he would show it( biting and bucking) he is at a vetinary hospital/school they know wats good and wats bad for the animals!!

  • god he has an AMAZING lengthy stride.

  • he is so pretty!!!

he obviously is enjoying his run on the treadmill. he looks happy and relaxed

to those ignorant people, the horse is not being forced to run. this is not hurting him. he's having a good time

get over you and your "i love horses the most of all" attitude for like 5 minutes and actually think

  • Even if the horse did slip and fall and hurt itself [which isn't any more likely there than a horse running in a field and falling and shattering itself in a bizzilion pieces (for the smarties, that isn't very likely =p ]It is already at a vet school so they

would just help it there. Am I right?? =]

PS Pretty horse!! Have fun at your school!!

  • wow... that horse is pretty... I hope I can go to vet school when I graduate.

  • I love this video...anyone making negative comments has no idea what they're talking about. I saw that someone had said that it would be safer in a bridle?! Wow, makes much more sense to be in a halter, and halters are safer for the horse...anyway, like I was saying...5 stars!

  • wow! that horse was soo pretty!! he can really run!......the tredmill is pretty cool i never knew they had them for horses..its cool they do though :)

  • HOLY SHIT THAT HORSE CAN RUN!!!! so cool

  • Hi, i have used treadmills before before anyone starts saying bad things. Your horse is cool, but u should use a auto-cutout roller like in Shellfish05's vid. Means that if the horse drops, then the belt stops. Also bit worried you're running the horse in a headcollar not a bridle. Just for safety, thats all. I guess people are taught different things in different places. Anyway, treadmills are cool. Miss having days sat with the fan in my face & the pounding in my head... :)

  • thats one strong treadmill that was really cool :)

  • If a horse doesn't want to do something, then most of the time they won't. So it's not cruel, and yes, these types of tests can save horses lives.

  • When you go into veterinary medicine and realize you need a treadmill to diagnose certain medical conditions, let us know.

  • AMAZING!! Can't wait to go on to vet school!! Beautiful Horse!

  • Where are you going!? Good luck!

  • Equine treadmills are not cruel, they have helped save many horses from exercise injuries, they are monitored and are not used for exessive amounts of time, do your research for gods sake.

  • when he did that little kick he seemed like he was enjoying it lol

  • I agree, made me smile---most horses love a good gallop!

  • wow dats fast

  • Can i go that treadmill i need to lose weight ha ha cute horse

  • thats so funny how at about 0:12, he swishes his tail and kicks his back legs up a little bit, like hes galloping around in a field!

  • wow fast! i love your horse its so cute!=)

  • it only takes a few goes for horses to feel at ease on those things.

  • thats cool that they can help the horses like this and it is fun to watch. if it was hurting the animal i think the government would have done something by now!!!!!!

  • Love cornell....

    bet he loved that

    it looked heaps good

anyone who thinks thats cruel in any way obviously dont know a thing

ITS A VET SCHOOL...why would they do anything to cruel!

    silly people

  • Lucky, I only wish I could afford to go to Cornell. I also cant believe ll the negative comments - think before you post! Does this look like abuse? I think not. Get a brain, please!

  • damn if he had wings he'd be in mid flight, seem's like he was tearing up that treadmill.

  • lucky..u get a horse!i wanted one for my whole life!!!!!

  • hahaha htats so cute he was flying!!! What happens when he trips or something does it like shut off like a people tredmill??

  • yes

  • ohhh thats really neat!!

  • i bet he's lovin every minute of that!!

  • ik vraag me af of dat paard het ook leuk vind, en of het niet gevaarlijk is, één verkeerde stap/harde ondergrond..

  • that horse can run fast! lol

  • wow I have heard alot about this treadmill but never seen it in action and the way you explained it made it very clear for what a wonderful tool it can be in diagnosing a horses health =] In other words it's friggin' awesome =]

  • hehe the horse watned to buck!! cute and i want to put my horse on one of those he could go so fast i bet, because he used to be a racehorse for a long time lol. But yeah pretty cool.

  • looks funny

  • cute horse

  • he looks like barbaro!

  • thats kinda funny how the horse puts his head down and swishes his tail when he has to gallop. really pretty horse, too. :)

  • that was ace my horse would get cofused and fall off she's a bit thick lol

  • thats really neat how youdescribed why they use the treadmill. it's amazing i didn't know they used treadmills for that piurpose thanks for filling me in! cool!

  • That is what the harness is for, to support and secure him incase of falls, trips, or treadmill failure.

  • Treadmills like this have also been useful in the work of several top sport horse stress researchers. They used them to measure the stress put on various parts of the legs when doing any gait. This research has a lot of potential to educate people in training methods that will reduce injuries related to competitive training, riding, etc.

  • that's a reallt gorgeous horse! lol that tredmile idea is a good one

  • Wow :D I knew they had horse treadmills but I've never really seen a horse on one.

And MAN can he run, haha.

  • I like what you guys do, I almost wanted to study equine but wanted to show them more, p.s. can you steal me one for my crazy thoroughbred ;D

  • WOW I want one! =] =] =] ^_^ lol kidding

  • the horse is so cute!

  • thats weird... dang he was going fast, or trying to anyway.

  • wow hes going fast :-p

  • aww wot a cute litto baby x n he did look lyk he was having fun hehe..=D...n for gawd sake people's its for medical reasons not to abuse the horse or see how long it takes to trip up, jesus!...anyways great vid and the horse sure can go x

  • wow i hope he gets well soon! and good luck with the treadmil training!

  • I was working my TB (2 yr old) on the tredmill yesterday! He's coming off a minor leg injury, and we are conditioning him again

  • Thats great, how's he doing?

  • he's almost fully healed. All are TB's are trained in diffrent forms of racing. We only have 5 now :(( We are going out of the racing buisiness

  • Thats great news!, so far my two racer's havent come to injury >.<

  • he is fast wow lol he's so cute he's like bring it haha :D

  • Beautiful horse! I don't find it animal abuse either. I hate animal abuse, but I wouldn't put this in that.

  • wow that horse is incredible, hes going so fast you can hardly see his legs move! lol

  • Hes like cmon i can go faster turn it up a knotch

  • :o Kijkt me nou niet echt goed voor de benen van je paard!

  • wow, that horse really enjoys it

its crazy fast, you just hear a very fast blur of the four hoofbeats

  • ABSOLUTELY beautiful.. Look how the horse moves.. It's amazing!! Definitely one of God's greatest, most beautiful creatures ever!!!!!

  • we can assume that he is left hoofed... :]

  • thats cool, i want to do that with my ex racer to how how fast he can go

  • Some people commenting really need to grow up. Equine treadmill's are not cruel at all.

My CC*** eventer is currently being exercised on a treadmill every week at the vets because he broke his leg early last year. He's been operated and slinged, and is being carefully monitored on a treadmill to check he's still in full working and fit health. Thanks to the vets, hes surviving, plus help from the treadmill because he cannot be turned out. Cruel? i dont damn well think so. Great vid

  • Thanks GOD, someone else with an experience to share that gives a real-life REASON treadmills are used to HEAL and HELP horses!! All these ppl saying poor horse, cruel, etc are ignorant and need to STFU and educate themselves before they spew assinine comments judging PROFESSIONALS at a VETERINARY HOSPITAL...as IF they KNOW MORE, lolol....

  • Spot on there!

It does make me laugh when all these 14 year olds whinge about proven therapies being 'cruel' when they're probably doing more damage to their horses by over feeding and mindless riding, either that or they seriously dont know anything about horses at all.

  • Thank's to Equine Treadmills my eventer has now been outside in the paddocks for half an hour every day, does that make me cruel for letting Vetinary professors save his life? I wouldnt have thought an Equine Treadmill is any different from human trads exept the size and weight bearing..

  • CORNELL IS THE BEST VET SCHOOL ON THE EAST COAST.

Anyone who bashes this video... Your stupid. Cornell definetly does nothing wrong to their horses. They cured my haflinger gelding of his squamos cell carcinoma and did it at a very good price and treated him perfectly. I have seen the tredmill work in person and the horses actually enjoy it.

  • nice video

  • He/she is really enjoying themself! See that buck? LOL

  • kayrite,

You are correct. Treadmills are used in vet med to asses lung problems, cardio anomalies, joint, tendon and muscle function in order to either help the horse actually doing the running or to establish parameters as to what goes on physiologically when any horse exercises hard.

  • cool! my ex-racers went on those to see how fast they could go in a contorlled environment,

that horse has a really nice lookin' gallop! :)

  • wow, thats really cool! so the treadmill only goes once he starts running?

  • WOW.I never knew that.Thats pretty cool. Ah he can run cant he.

  • thats fascinating!!! he's definately enjoying himself!!! do you know exactly how fast he was going??? i loved it!

  • That is sooooo dangerous, but cool

  • please read my other comments and the description, thanks.

  • It's not really dangerous, almost all racehorse go through that.

  • thats pretty cool...

i brought my horse to a vet. in kentucky and they had one of those to test horses too!

it was really cool, they had lots of funny stories!

  • Wow... I'm thoroughly impressed. I've never actually had the opportunity to see a horse close up at an all-out run. Love the vid ^_^

Also, if I may...? How fast is the horse running in this particular vid? I'm just curious :)

  • Race horse training.

  • LOL

  • wow, how do you train them to do that? lol he looks like hes enjoying himself!

  • Wow this is an amzing video. I've always wanted to see a horse run on a treadmill. How long does it take for the horse to get up to a galloping pace?

I love the way he looks like he wants to buck as he speeds up, bless. :)

  • I have no idea about treadmills with horses on them, but couldn't that have the potential to be a really harmful situation? I mean if you were to put an unfit horse on there and run it the same speed.. don't you think?

  • ...why would they do that

  • exactly soliloguyofastar. dont you think little showriider that if the horse couldnt go that fast, he wouldnt go that fast. or that they would even try to get a hors to go that fast if they hadn't seen him do it before? and if you didnt know anything about it, then just keep your mouth SHUT.

  • That's awesome! I have one question though...what's the "footing" like on it? There's a horse treadmill at the barn next to mine and I haven't been able to check it out. I can't image it would be too hard because of the stress on the horse's legs, but then again that can't be as cushiony as sand footing.

  • did you know the most stress is put on the horses legs when its just standing? they obviously dont run the horse on the tredmil EVERYDAY for hours at a time. this horse is FINE.

  • Well if u read my comment properly I actually admit to being ignorant about this kinda thing... I said I dont no enought to agree OR disagree... So dont be smart.. am i not allowed to voice my opinion??

  • Lol he looked like he was having fun. I need to put my horse on a treadmil lol my horse Max just turned 4 and he's as hyper as he can be! Soon they might have a horsy gym.

  • This following sentence has been added to the description of this video... "dont you think if this horse didn't want to run, it would just stand there?" I dont no enough about this kinda thing to agree or disagree really BUT er.. if you got on a treadmill and it got faster and faster.. could YOU just stand their??? er no! Horse didnt have a choice!

  • Please don't be ignorant. thanks :)

  • Neverseen anything like that before! I felt sorry for him (or her) until I read your explanation. Its pretty fascinating! Could he stop if he wanted? How long would you keep him at that speed for?

  • wow! thats so cool how a horse can go on a treadmil!

  • (Part 3 of 3)

respiratory, cardiac, and several other diseases.

As such, this equine treadmill is a medical device that is used by licensed veterinarians that have had 8+ years of professional medical training (training that is often more rigorous than that of human doctors!), and is in no way cruel or abusive towards the animal.

  • (Part 2 of 3)

speeds, but just running a horse in a field has too many uncontrolled variables. For instance, you can't tell if a horse's improper positioned while running in is a result of an injured leg, or just because the ground is uneven.)

As such this machine is necessary so that the doctors can observe the horse in a controlled environment and perform a gait analysis, often times with the aid of a video recording device. The treadmill can also be used in diagnosing

  • (Part 1 of 2)

I've never posted a comment on YouTube before, but felt compelled to do so after reading all the negative and misguided comments on this video.

I am currently a veterinary student at Cornell University (and yes, Soliloguyofastar, Cornell is currently the #1 ranked vet school in the country, if not the world), and the treadmill seen in the video is used for diagnostic purposes. Often times problems in a horse's gait is not seen unless the horse is running at high

  • that horse is so gorgeous! and its just bucking cause its haveing fun and is excited!

he/she looked like it was going really fast! how fast was it goin?!

  • How fast is he going? Oh and like some other people are saying I agree he looks like he is having fun.

  • that a nice lookin' horse but it would give me heart failure to a horse get injured...i mean he doesn't look tired or anything but ..one slip up and that would be the end

    nice lookin' horse though

you probably know more about it than me so don't listen to me...

  • MAN HE WANTS TO GO!! love to watch when horses are enjoying themselves it's so beautiful

  • stop nagging! the horse moves the treadmill not the other way round!

  • freaking sweet. i have never seen that before! i wish i had one lol maybe my horse would be a little less tubby ;-) but thats awesome and people are idiots if they can read this horses signals with his happy expression and perked up ears :-)

  • He seems to be enjoying it acctually =) I know there safe an everything, but I have this fear that a horse will tire and not keep up, and will fall...but im sure that proabbly wouldnt happen =P

  • Wow. That horse is goregous. He looks like hes having fun. People really need to stop leaving negative comments. He's bucking and having fun. He likes his job. Stop nagging on people for their videos. Get a life. Jesus. Hes very cute by the way

  • thats soo cute hehe :)

  • Jesus, I can't believe how many dumb idiots are leaving comments on this video.

The horse looks in beautiful condition, with a pleasant expression about its work.

Besides, I've run on millions of treadmills and never ONCE have I ever tripped. I doubt ponies on treadmills are going to be running a giant risk of tripping, either.

  • god that horse can run fast.

  • All the people that are like boohoo the poor horse are SO WRONG!!!! Horse tredmills are strictly used for training, studies, or other reasonable things. I could understand if this was some random farm... using this on a random horse for no reason, BUT IF YOU READ THE INTRO!!!! It says this is a study being done at Cornell. So, I agree with the person who posted this, not the freaks that say they're abusing the horse.

  • -rolls eyes- Read the description guys... vet center. They are not abusing the horse.

I find that really interesting. Thanks for posting this!

  • wow thats cool. i visited cornell and theyre horses are treated so well! im hoping to attend there

  • Wow thats a really neat video. I admire the horse and the machine. The horse has no problem at all really just running and the machine think of all the strain it must incounter with the horses weight and all. Super Cool!!

  • I think its really cool, and i dont see anything wrong with it...I imagine they wouldnt put a horse on it that didnt know what it was doing therefore its not going to get hurt...the people that do this are like professionals dont give negetive comments if you dont know anything about it !

  • OMG guys it fien to do that to a horse many race horses get trained that way!! it fine so dont have a bitch fit

  • It's not cruel at all. They're either doing a study or testing physiological functions of the horse or training it. Though I'm not particularly interested in equine medicine, I am a vet student.

  • That poor horse. And the owners should feel terrible right now I hate this video and that is almost abuse.

  • you are an idiot and should be kept away from horses.

  • NO ITS IS NOT ABUSE they are doing it perpesly for MEDICAL reasons. Its is absolutely NO different then when a human uses it. I bet if you put a video of a human on a treadmill on here people wouldnt be saying "thats abuse!" ITS NOT read your facts

  • how in the world is that abuse??? its not hurting the horse in any way! and the horse looks like its having fun! its in perfectly good shape and can easily run that fast without doing harm on itself, so just SHUT IT

  • Anyone who has kept up with the treatment and incredible healing of the racehorse "Barbaro" at New Bolton Center, the best equine vet center in the country, might know that they similarly use a treadmill on horses up to 30 mph or even faster, for testing for cardio, pulmonary and other purposes. If it is good enough for Dr. Dean Richardson, that should resolve anyone's doubts.

  • I'm sorry, but the horse can't exactly stop!

  • man, im so glad you commented. You're right, you must be so much smarter than everyone at this vet school.

  • Haha nice.

  • That looks really awesome...I have 3 horses and if love to be able to take my horse to one of those to keep her in shape...could you ride a horse while its doing that ?

  • Wow that is cool. It does look a little unsafe but yeah it still facinates me

  • oi ya ignoran ppl this is how they train competitive horses and it lvoes it if it didnt it would rear up and go crazy yh ok bit bad tht it on solid ground but udda dend at its doing gr8 love da lil buck its lik wooo

  • look---the horse is not tied up to anything, so if he fell, he would just slide off and not hurt a thing. really people, lighten up

  • i think he looks like hes havin fun! Y dus evry1 hav do think they no beter- if u havnt got nethin nice 2 say dont say nefin

pls watch- my pony catkin! :)

  • There is more risk the horse tripping on a bit of uneven ground out in the open =/ there are also safety things installed into treadmills, there is an emergency stop button that will bring the belt to a complete stop straight away. Try looking up your facts before making accusations that you know nothing about and make you sound like an idiot...
