science changes when it is at its best. it strives to disprove itself with rigorous testing and debating and it does. Christianity demands you believe completely on an ancient idea and that doubting it will put you in hell. there are many reliable sources of truth but the best thing to do is think about your own personal standard for what you accept as truth.
i am not certain there are no gods, fairies, phychics, unicorns, ect but it seem highly likely that they do not exist. i cant disprove any of these ideas because they do not rely on evidence. what you call God is called many things by many people and they all have different rituals and beliefs you must perform to be "saved".

You are right there are a large number of religions and they cannot all be true because they are mutually exclusive (eg:Jesus is the messiah in Christianity but not in Judaism-both cant be true) but that does not necessarily mean none are true. In order to find the correct world view the evidence need to fit with the view. I believe Christianity does the best job but I may be mistaken however, so I am willing to discuss the possibilities because Im just as concerned about the truth as you are.

The point is that God can do anything, but has a plan, or "will." The war, death, tragedy, is all in His will. We don't know why, but we don't have to know why. Many people don't want to believe they don't have control over their own lives. Many Christians forget to mention that Satan has just as strong a grip on people as God. Well, I would say, "I will not go to Hell because I am forgiven for my sins. And besides, not giving you money is NOT a sin." I know what reality is. When people beat cancer, some look at it as a miracle, others simply as a medical victory. I look at it like God created the treatments and the doctors. So the treatment is the miracle.
God forgives those who accept His son, Jesus into their heart. This can be done on your death bed. But many times, people on their death bed do not have the mental capacity to think about that, sadly. God wants us to live our lives enjoying ALL that He has created knowing that we are forgiven, IF we have accepted His son.

The books of the Old Testament were written from approximately 1400 B.C. to 400 B.C. The books of the New Testament were written from approximately A.D. 40 to A.D. 90. So, anywhere between 3400 to 1900 years have passed since a book of the Bible was written. In this time, the original manuscripts have been lost. They very likely no longer exist.

Some beautiful books of the original Bible have been taken out by both the original Church (Catholic Church), and the Protestant Church later. Mostly because of volume, but also because of interpretation.
Book of Baruch, Judith, among about a dozen others.
The sad thing is most modern day Christians think that those weren't actual books of the original bible, they only think the King James version is the be all end all.
And its far from it

Who reading this believes that the Bible is ALL the word of God? No, not some of it but even the absurd, the contradictory, the cosmologically out-of-date, the scientifically nonsensical? Why? There is scant mention even in the Great Book itself of God's authorship. Genesis doesn't begin: 'God inspired me to write the following...' It begins: 'In the beginning God created...' Even if it had been shot through with claims of this kind, what reason should we have had to believe it?

Well I have read it, that's the point. I find some of it inspiring and some of it contradictory, scientifically out-of-date, absurd... You say FAITH. But faith is not a reason. Faith is a consequence of evidence of one kind or another (tho' not necessarily scientific evidence or logical). Faith resting on the rock of 'everybody believes it' is bound to slip into the sea eventually. So WHY have faith that it is the word of God? It is a serious matter. It deserves more than a snappy answer.

if you believe in faith, then you are not basing your ideas on evidence by the definition of faith. if you dont base your ideas on evidence, you can literally believe anything. please think about this.
witches, psychics, ghost hunters, and the religious all validate their ideas with this same logic. "we have faith that it is true", this is dangerous to your mind and to the nature of truth.
there has to be order to how we see things as "truth" and i believe that order is evidence.

You havent defined exactly what you mean by the word 'faith' but im guessing you are referring to something known as 'blind faith' or 'religious wishful thinking'. Unfortunately this is not the biblical definition of faith. The greek word used for faith literally means, 'an active trust'. You earn trust. Unless you are foolish, you dont automatically trust everyone you see with your life or money or kids now do you? Christianity is based on evidence not a leap in the dark.

Tell me, when you are attempting to stop getting shot in the chest, do you put any old piece of plastic onto you or a bullet proof vest? You put the vest on because you trust it; its been tested and shown to do its task. You have an active "faith" in the vest stopping a bullet. Thats the type of faith Christianity is based upon. Not the type that puts on any old piece of plastic and hopes for the best.
So the first sentence from your wiki definition fits nicely with the Christian definition.

You are correct in saying that truth is not dependent on how strongly we believe something to be truth. Its not "subjective" based on the 'subject' (you, me, people) observing, its "objective' based on the object of truth.
So it doesn't matter how strongly people believe God doesn't or does exist, it matters on whether he does in fact exist or not. I encourage you to seek out the truth evidentially as I am. Based on what Ive found, its all pointing to the truth of the Christian worldview. Peace

the evidence you speak of requires you to call it God. you could use the same evidence to validate any religion or belief or god(s).
we are pattern seeking mammals. it helps us survive but it can also lead us to impose false ideas on reality when we dont understand something. just look at sickness and weather, how many gods did we come up with when we didnt know about weather systems and microorganisms?
God is your answer. when you think you have the answer, you stop asking questions.

Many exceptional scientists throughout the ages were driven BY their theistic beliefs to explore science and such. It is simply false to claim theists insert God into the equation when they cannot explain an observation. Btw the knife cuts both ways, theists could say that atheists simply put "it must be natural" into the equation when they cannot explain an observation.

its best to assume "there must be a natural explanation" when you cannot explain something. otherwise you are just assuming a supernatural explanation and no longer looking for the true answer. that is why i brought up disease and weather. when we didnt understand weather systems, we had Zeus, Amun, Wuluwaid and Ra to name a few. when we didnt know there were microorganisms, we attributed illness with wickedness and sin.

It seems to me that its not the Christian worldview which is 'attacking' knowledge but rather its the atheists' naturalistic philosophy which is not willing to accept supernatural phenomenon simply by assuming "its not possible". no. science is not the only source of reliable truth. science has made a very credible system of analyzing an idea or hypothesis.
science changes when it is at its best. it strives to disprove itself with rigorous testing and debating and it does. Christianity demands you believe completely on an ancient idea and that doubting it will put you in hell. there are many reliable sources of truth but the best thing to do is think about your own personal standard for what you accept as truth.

i am not certain there are no gods, fairies, phychics, unicorns, ect but it seem highly likely that they do not exist. i cant disprove any of these ideas because they do not rely on evidence. what you call God is called many things by many people and they all have different rituals and beliefs you must perform to be "saved".
there may be a supernatural explanation to the unknown or unknowable but ive yet to hear one that is convincing over all the others. they cant all be real can they?

You are right there are a large number of religions and they cannot all be true because they are mutually exclusive (eg:Jesus is the messiah in Christianity but not in Judaism-both cant be true) but that does not necessarily mean none are true. In order to find the correct world view the evidence need to fit with the view. I believe Christianity does the best job but I may be mistaken however, so I am willing to discuss the possibilities because Im just as concerned about the truth as you are.

Don't nullify a way of life you don't understand, that's ignorant. Actually, true Christianity doesn't judge anybody. And Christianity is not about believing in a dead guy. It is about believing in a Saviour who is very much alive. Not only does the Bible say so; the transformation of the millions of lives who were transformed from the message of Jesus Christ. I saw that exact illumination of the cross formed by the glow of the moon about three weeks ago. It was an incredible sight . It was in perferct view through my window as I resting on my bed. .The illumination is at 1:17. It was awesome ,undescribable feeling, and it lasted for sometime. To G-d goes all the glory.

What makes hell so bad is that it's simply a place away from God. God doesn't send us all to heaven because he gives us freewill and he would be overjoyed if every1 went to heaven. God does love all of us, but what Christians believe is that God sent his only son, Jesus, to die for our sins. If you accept Jesus into your heart, you will be given eternal life and vice versa. It's our way of saying thank you to God for allowing our sins to be forgiven.

Have you ever heard about Satan being one of the most beautiful angels in Heaven? He tried to take over God's throne, which is why God sentenced him to eternity in Hell. God wants to know who has been loyal to him and his commands on earth. Those who aren't are sentenced to eternity in Hell. God works miracles everyday, but it's not everyday that a sea spreads apart. And no, there's no hard evidence to prove it either way, but that's not the point.

The point is that God can do anything, but has a plan, or "will." The war, death, tragedy, is all in His will. We don't know why, but we don't have to know why. Many people don't want to believe they don't have control over their own lives. Many Christians forget to mention that Satan has just as strong a grip on people as God. For instance, the victims of 9/11 had no control over what happened. I can't answer all of your questions, and I have yet to meet someone who can answer mine.

Well, I would say, "I will not go to Hell because I am forgiven for my sins. And besides, not giving you money is NOT a sin." I know what reality is. I'm not some stupid radicalist who lives in la la land. For instance, cancer. A disease with no cure, but in some cases is treatable. When people beat cancer, some look at it as a miracle, others simply as a medical victory. I look at it like God created the treatments and the doctors. So the treatment is the miracle.

God forgives those who accept His son, Jesus into their heart. This can be done on your death bed. But many times, people on their death bed do not have the mental capacity to think about that, sadly. God wants us to live our lives enjoying ALL that He has created knowing that we are forgiven, IF we have accepted His son.

Some are given over to their stupidity and their sinful inclinations. God is so gracious, that he will give you whatever you want.
