I live in Kirkwood, and I remember this! My dad was friends with a police officer that pastaway in this.

On that night, I was a student at Tillman, and my sister, a Nipher student, were home alone. My parents were on the other side of town, and the scene was between us. My sister's friend was one of the first to know of it, thanks to her uncle, and thanks to that, we knew to lock the doors and stay safe. Nothing happened, but it was good to know we were safe.

I do not live in kirkwood, but I do live in DES Peres and I do so much in kirkwood! I would just like to say RIP Mayor Saboda. He died from the gunshot wound some months later. He will also always be in out hearts. I remember that I was at home with my little brother watching celebrity apprentice when the message about the shooting interrupted the show. Kirkwood is a wonderful town. I graduated Kirkwood High School in 1976...and in fact...was a sophomore when Cookie Thornton was a senior. I remember him being one of the more popular kids.; So, it came as a complete shock to me when I first heard about this tragic event. I live in Indiana now...and haven't been back to Kirkwood in almost 30 years. It was sure nice watching this video. But, I sure hope this tragedy doesn't come to define Kirkwood.

It's a shame that a little mid west town like Kirkwood,Mo claim to fame is this shooting & the kidnapping of Shawn Hornbeck & Ben Ownby.

I'm from NYC but when I hear of Kirkwood,Mo I think of those two events. Sad cause I hear its a really nice place.

i am a kirkwood grad of '05 and i am away at school. i am saddened that i cant be there in kirkwood to be there for my community. this video has helped me so much. i have been able to see everything and feel like i am truly there. watching this video haas also helped me grieve. if possible, maybe you could make another video of the days after making this video. i havent been able to see the memorials and how they have grown. hopefully they will all still be there when i come home in 2wks thanks!

I just moved from long Island to kirkwood in Jan. 5th. I was shocked at the events that night. Even though I may be the newest member of the Kirkwood Community, the strength I have seen from this community is amazing, it is truly an amazing place. This tribute shows how caring this community is. My heart and prayers go out to all the Kirkwood Police Officers and the families of the victims.

Yeah you know, despite what might happen in Kirkwood, we really are a strong community that really comes together when we need to. And that's the good thing about it. Suffice to say, these types of things rarely if ever happen here, and that's the way it should be...peaceful. But as far as support systems go, Kirkwood as a whole is one of the best...

It's weird how such a small place can have sorrow and horrible things happen to it. I got a little rem-a-nis-ing at the beginning that showed all of the places I have walked passed. I am fourteen now, and at first I didn't know much and I acted as if it didn't matter, but now I do care, and I do want to do something.

Please have some sympathy for ALL those who hurt because of the action. We cannot change what has been done, but we might be able to do something to change violent future acts.
