  • Fantastic work!

  • Look at the ticket booth on the right at 0:56

  • Hey Ron, what did you win?

  • @volpe3fuego - I won a cool Coraline t-shirt, real metal skeleton key (which I proudly keep on my keychain), a copy of the Wii Coraline video game, and a Coraline card game. :)

  • Spectacular characters! the attention to detail within the puppets as well as in the movement is brilliant.

  • Watch Coraline's eyes right at about the 1:00 mark.

  • :DD

  • I feel like the people who made Coraline are family to me and I don't believe they would be very happy about their hard work being given away online for free. So I'm gonna have to remove this comment, I don't want to feel responsible for helping to advertise sites that do stuff like that.

  • I just went to that site you mentioned where Coraline was posted for free and apparently it's been removed already - Cool! But they have Fantastic Mr.Fox posted there now and I hope that gets taken down as well. Quite honestly, I think sites like that really hurt the film industry and should be taken down all together!

  • jack and sally were funny, can't belive you made those two for half a second of film

  • Thanks but, I didn't make Jack and Sally for this - everything in that ticket booth area on the right side of the screen is 2D animated in post. I just found pictures of Jack and Sally and animated them walking through in Photoshop. The only things that are real in this bit are the two main puppets and the wall behind them. even the reflections of the passing cars on the poster frame were added in later. :)

  • still, thats good attention to detail. It makes it much more realistic.

  • Excellent work animatorIsomer. The animation was great and the cameos from Jack and Sally was great. However, one of your comments said you weren't pro yet. Biggest lie ever. Great work. Can't wait to see more of it.

  • Thanks! Being pro is about getting paid for it and I've never animated on a film that's been theatrically released yet so, that's why I don't count myself as a pro animator yet. Thanks Again! :)

  • Oh, okay. Still awesome. :)

  • awwn i didnt c them...itz 2 blurry...but itz AWESOME...man i cnt make coraline stopmotion i suck...

  • Anyone notice Jack and Sally walking in the back? :D This was soo wicked! You did an EXCELENT amazing job! WOW!

  • Thanks! I actually think most of the comments that have been left on this video have been regarding the stuff I snuck into the background. :)

  • hard not to miss, but all the more great. adds to wow cool your animation was all together. *applauds*

  • Haha! Coraline's eyes were moving!!! And int the end i saw jack and sally!!! Xd 5/5

  • fantastic animation, I just LOVE Isomer's expression right before he slaps the buttons on to Trevor's eyes LMAO

  • Thanks Bren!

  • I can't get over how smooth and lifelike your animation is! There's only so much you can do technically, this is great artistry!

  • Congratulations ron!

  • Awesome job

  • Sir, this is an excellent video. This is very inspiring to someone who's just starting out in StopMo because it makes you see what's possible with the whole process. This is EXCELLENT. Great work!

  • Thanks! and I'm glad you used the word 'inspiring' because stop motion animation was threatened with extinction for a number of years because of computer animation - it's so good to see the growth of the numbers of people who are into it and learning it again! :)

  • Such beautiful animation, this deserves the win ^^

I couldn't help notice Jack & Sally at 00:58 and Coralines eyes moving at 1:03

    Brilliant!

  • I should change the name of this video somehow because this contest ended months ago... and it DID win! Thanks Much. :)

  • XD Well, Congratulations to you~

  • Oops! I accidentally hit the 'delete' button someone's question about Coraline's eyes in the poster when I meant to hit 'reply'... Sorry! The answer to that question was just Photoshop. I actually never planned to do that in this video, it just occurred to me to do it while I was editing it together because I noticed that she appeared to be watching and listening the whole time so, I figured it would be cool if she looked to the wizard for a reaction. Thanks for noticing!

  • haha its ok, wow thats coool :)

  • amazing video

  • jack skeleton in the reflection at 0:58

  • cool

  • lol amazing! and i just realized after watching this for like the 7th time, that coralines eyes move in the poster (:

  • AMAZING.

  • Whoa, that was great! It flowed well, the movements looked a lot like they were doing it themselves. Good job!

    P.S. Whoa! The ad Coraline's eyes moved @ 1:03!!!

  • woah. the movement of the tall guy when he puts the buttons on the short one is incredibly realistic...thought they were life-size costumes for a moment.

  • 1:00 @ the pic of coraline; HER EYES MOVE! :O

  • thats weird~!

  • Great work. Love the animation. How did you animate the facial expressions and the mouth movements? Is it built into the armature or what? I am trying to get into animation. I like all forms of animation but I have never studied much on stop motion.

  • Thanks! Yes, the mechanisms for the facial expressions and mouth movements are built into the armature, it's a cable control system I created just for these puppets which are from my film 'In the Fall of Gravity'. I took the opportunity to use them again for this entry into a Coraline animation contest that was sponsored by Laika. (the company that made Coraline)

  • 0:58!! look! in the background! it's Jack Skellington!

  • OMG. XD I didn't notice him the first time I watched this!

  • Awesomeness! I love the easter eggs you put in there with Jack and Sally and Coraline's eyes. I just noted Jack and Sally...Heh. The animation's so fluid, too...

  • Enjoy your work, keep it up! ...and the buttons...

  • Wow! This was really incredible. The detail is amazing. Down to Coraline's eyes moving back and forth between the characters and Jack and Sally in the background. The stuff of professionals. 5/5!

  • Hanamore, Thanks for such a nice review! I'm not really 'pro' yet but, I'm trying. I got lucky to a certain extent on this one, almost everything worked just as I had planned. I did this in a rush and there was plenty of room for things to go wrong - some things did but they weren't things to big to fix. Thanks for all the stars!

  • Jack and Sally at 0:58 !!!

    Well done, amazing job!

  • Thanks much! Most people only seem to notice Jack but not Sally with him. Thanks for noticing.

  • Cool! It took me a while to notice Jack and Sally there.

  • at 1:01 Coraline's eyes moved.

  • BTW, I heard you won! Congratulations, it is well deserved!!!!

  • I was blinded away by pure awesomeness.

  • AMAZING! That was excelent!

  • Absolutely fantastic fun! The little touches of Coralines eye movement is perfect and what an unexpected but delightful shock to see Jack and Sally walking by. Love your puppets and love your animation!!

  • Thanks for all the wishes for the success of this video in the contest it was made for... it won! Yay! :)

  • wow best wishes...hope laika picks you up seriously. killer stop mo!

  • Wow.Wow.Wow.

I keep watching this over! Awesome work...and really nice extra touches!

  • What are you talking about? You've done an excellent job yourself, Crinklefish

  • freakin' awesome ron

  • Brilliant Ron - Looks great in HD!

  • Amazing facial animation and lip sync!!

  • beautiful work man! love the lip sync!

  • It's extremely well done.

But my favorite part is when the Coraline poster animates. That is such a nice touch.

  • It's funny because doing Coraline's eyes was sort of an after-though, I just couldn't help noticing all through the editing that it looked like she was looking right at Trevor so, it only made sense that she would be listening too! I did that wondering if anyone would ever notice it (or Jack and Sally) and yet most of the comments I've gotten mention those two thrown-in elements... very cool THANKS!

  • Gods below! I'd completely missed Jack and Sally.

*deepens dent in desk by way of a suitably forcible application of forehead*

I think that it's overall so smoothly done that you're more likely to be caught by little surprises than, say for example, glitches in production quality.

  • Really realistic!

  • i like the use of Jack and Sally, i had to go back and see if i missed anyone else.

  • Awesome as always Ron. Keep Rockin.

  • very perty indeed!

     jriggity

  • D**n it Ron! why do you have to be so good, was gonna enter this, glad i didn't!

:-) but seriously well done, hope you win! x

  • Nicely done, Ron! I hope you win!

    V

  • beautiful!
