just to see this game acually running on an emulating is a huge step forward. lets just hope there arent any more legal issues to come because of this
I almost bought a japanese Xbox just for Ketsui, but than my PAL 360 died and I decided that I will never ever buy a MS console again, so I lost all hope for playing this game.
@Sasupoika2 Not everyone working on hacks gives away their identity (ignoring mamedev people). Cave can't do shit about this and I doubt they'd care either way, the 5pb port will eventually sell out and they never had plans for a reprint so the publisher won't lose anything.
@hatchedarea depending on how much Cave wanted a western publisher to pick Ketsui up for localisation, I can see them been pritty pissed right now as news of this will damage any chances of it been released in the west. Personally i think the best thing Cave could do is to release Ketsui (and other Cave games on Mame) on steam, not now but do it when the mame version is 80-90% perfect
@TrevHead10 most developers are a bit too worried about releasing any games on PC since the hardware is not at all obscure and cracking+distribution is very simple. The company is more likely to wrap up operations before they ever get to the stage of contemplating Steam. :(
Anyway, this game in particular won't see a localised version at all. They would barely be able to offset the localisation costs.
Funnily enough it's only when it is emulated that Ketsui will be talked about by everyone. :P
@hatchedarea the irony is that Cave and other Japanese devs dont mind releasing on the DS and PSP which have high rates of piracy and then say they dont wanna publish on PC due to piracy rates. The sad truth is that many PC gamers would pay good money to play a legit good quality arcade / console game if it was cheap enough on steam (Reccetear sold extreamly well). Still you are right about hell freezing over b4 we see ketsui on steam.
@Bananamatic I dont know about the console emulation scene, but many of the Mame devs are quite open with their identity which makes them a target for leal action. Also ketsui has only been released on the 360 recently and the mame version could of been finished b4 Cave had any chance to make money off it.
@TrevHead10 Indeed. Perhaps it is time for them to retire and let someone who isn't out trying to fill their resume with simulation development references to do the real work. ;)
Emulation/Cracking and so on, is shady business. Trying to find an island of "legitimacy" is futile and you can see this reality come out into full view with this particular game.
@Sasupoika2 Haze already posted on the FBA boards warning of that legal action yadda yadda. Now, I wonder what exactly happened with CAVE: is there a real threat or it's just so Guru can have bragging rights for a tad bit longer?
The situation is unclear at best, irony and jokes aside.
how does ketsui run on fba at the moment

@Arc8deFever Hmm.. I believe this was a test demo just to show it was possible - but I'm sure your "constructive" criticism was well recieved..

Didn't CAVE say that they will take legal actions if Ketsui, Mushi or DOJ or any newer game was emulated?

@TrevHead10 DOJ, Galuda, Ibara and Mushi are already playable on a PS2 emu anyways...so what's Cave worried about?
