  • this is macedonia of the Illyrians! and non-Slaves who came after many centuries and Hanoi's occupancy territories of Illyrians you want to falsify history illyrians

  • god damn THIS GAME IS SO FUCKING GOOD

  • It's 3 € on steam right now

  • will gold cost 19 too?

  • @Bravenite4 Right now we're thinking Gold will probably be 29.99, but we're still working out the details.

  • @CreatureGam3r Actually, it's on Steam right now!

  • Ill buy it, $20 on steam. Been waiting for something like Age of Empires (Gold pack) but also elements of Total War Rome.

  • @CreatureGam3r Soon we'll be releasing a new game called Hegemony Gold: Wars of Ancient Greece, which includes the Philip of Macedon campaign as well as a bunch of other new features, including the ability to play as the Spartans. Check out our website for details.

Unfortunately (or perhaps, quite fortunately) the Spartans are fully armoured, so you might have to use your imagination when it comes to the oily six packs.

  • @NewSpartan99

a/b) By capturing cities, building roads, completing quests, and of course, mining.

    c) Yes, you have to siege walled cities, and you can build catapults to help.

    d) Yep. As you conquer enemy nations, you'll be able to build their unit types.

  • @ng1294

    hahaha...

30% of todays FYROMians are Albanian minority.

A 15% are and feel Bulgarians.

The others are slavs and they try hard to unite their country under Alexander the Great...

    LOL!

  • Greeks got ethiopian dna similarity and got darker face. Macedonians are white caucasians and got no racial connection between

So all of you "greek" propagators can blow my pipe

    crawl back to ethiopia

    MACEDONIA TO THE MACEDONIANS

  • @UberMaKedoN It's really not worth fighting over. The problem is that the terms Greece and Macedonia have been redefined so many times that they mean different things in different contexts. The present-day Republic of Macedonia has virtually nothing in common (not even geography) with ancient Macedonia.

  • @Skrapion "nothing in common (not even geography) with ancient Macedonia"

Before you post ignorant comment like this you should read history(not from wikipedia) and come to R Macedonia to see thousands of excavation sites from that period, and longer before that.

I as a Macedonier im telling you this

i bet that i know much more about my land that you do

  • @UberMaKedoN I'm certain there's tonnes of very interesting excavation sites in the Republic of Macedon, as it was part of the Hellenic world (what most people just call 'Ancient Greece'), but look up Pella on Google Maps. This was the capital of ancient Macedon, and it's not in the modern day R. Macedon, because the borders are completely different than they were.

Like I said, 'Macedonia' means different things in different contexts; arguing that only one of those contexts is correct is silly.

  • Hegemony Philip of Macedon

  • hahah i live in macedonia its great 2 finaly have a game like this! :))

  • well macedonia is still in greece.the new slavic "macedonia" has the 10% of the ancient kingod of macedon before it expandes its teritory

  • @korenmkd

Listen boy, Macedonia was a Greek kingdom and you people are just Slavs who copied our historical name!

  • The F.Y.R Macedonia has nothing to do with the Acient Macedonia.

  • @balkanboy300 listen balkanboy the todays Macedonia is what is left from the Macedonian Empire !

  • daaaa makedonija super samo taka neka vide cel svet mameto nivno grcko ja ne sum grk be da ve ebam makdonec sum i makdeonski zboram vie li ke mi kazete be seljaci cigani edni mrs u azija da ve ebam u cmar goveda niedni da vi ebam krvta smrdliva aj sea prevedite ako znaete MAKEDONSKI :)

  • Im Macedonian great i will kill greeks in this game like filip and aleksandar did yeaaah

MACEDONIA IN MY BLOOD IN MY MIND IN MY HEART IM MACEDONIAN nothing and greek are gupsys hahahha

  • Yes but ancient Macedonians were Dorics which means a well known Greek tribe like Spartans, other tribes were Ionians and Aiolians!! You are Slavians which means be in mind and heart whatever you think , but biologically you are not Macedonian!!!

  • Look at a map.

Pella, the heart of ancient Macedon is today in the province of Macedonia in Greece.

Also the language you speak is nothing like that of which the Ancient Macedonians spoke (which was Attic-Koine dialect of Greek), doesn't even belong in the same family tree.

  • hahaha you are crazy

  • Ancient Macedonia was first formed in the second half of VII B.C. During the centuries, the Macedonian borders changed and Macedonia became "Ruler of the world" with Alexander the Great, who is also known as Alexander the Macedonia.

The founder of the first Macedonian Kingdom was Perdika, who lived and ruled from 707-645 B.C. The process of the forming of this kingdom was not short, and it took another two centuries until Macedonia became in power.

  • Macedonian kings had battles many times with the neighbouring enemies. Some of those kings include: Argej, Filip I, Aerop, Alketa, Aminta, Aleksandar II, Perdika II, and Arhelaj. After them, Philip II and his son Alexander III Aleksandar the Great came to the throne, and expanded the Macedonian name throughout the world.

  • The biggest enemy of Macedonia at that time was Persia, and some Greek city-states like Athens. Persia and Athens were also in a conflict, which gave Macedonian rulers a good opportunity to expand their empire. The situation changed very quickly, and Macedonia became powerful, but at the same time became weak.

  • lol you like to contradict yourself don't you? Macedonia became powerful and weak at the same time? Wouldn't that mean it's stagnant and remaining the same, doing nothing? LOL you are a dumbass.

  • Lol... dumbass.

  • the world knows about who are macedonians and we are not grecia am macedoinian nothing else

  • Yeah and the Prussians were never German either. Dipshit.

  • This game looks awesome!

  • My teacher has this thing at my school where we are assigned a city and I got Macedonia!Phillip forever! But it sucks I have to write a 10 page essay on him :(

  • Macedonia wasn't a city... it was a kingdom. Philip is awesome though. That 10 page essay should be a breeze if you've done your research well enough. I need to get NGL Hammond's book on him.

  • Is it an illusion or is this game a bit samey? About three unit types marching on identical cities? If this is a good game, though, there's no way I'm passing it up. I was reading about Philip only yesterday - I will certainly appreciate historical accuracy. Do you think there are more titles coming - Pelopponese, Persian and Alexandrian wars?

  • And if genes do matter, that path leads to racism. Culture and government are very different. Athens had a democracy, Sparta had a duel kingship. Both were unquestionably Greek. Whether or not Macedonia is Greece any more is another matter that I will not comment on -most of France used to be British. That's my last say on the matter, from a neutral perspective.

  • Whatever your genes tell you now, that has absolutely nothing to do with the game, set a thousand years before the Slavs turned up. I'd say Macedonia is Greece the same way Russia is European. Who cares about genes anyway? It's about culture. Australians are not actually Australians by that; same with America. Yet Constantinople was Roman.

  • how does that logically follow? The French Revolution did not stop France from being European, though it had a different system of government.

  • I wish you guys lots of luck, I have been following this game for some time, looks interesting.

I wish you'd get more press, but w/e. Good luck, and any tentative release dates? Quarter '09?

  • is this a base building game

  • Nope. You do capture cities and build up their defenses (or possibly tear down the defenses, if you're worried about the city rebelling) but the focus is on combat and tactics.

  • That's kind of a hard argument to make geographically. The kingdom of Macedon was smack-dab in the middle of Greece.

  • @Skrapion [Book II - Battle of Issus] "Darius' Greeks fought to thrust the Macedonians back into the water and save the day for their left wing, already in retreat, while the Macedonians, in their turn, with Alexander's triumph plain before their eyes, were determined to equal his success and not forfeit the proud title of invincible, hitherto universally bestowed upon them. The fight was further embittered by the old racial rivalry of Greek and Macedonian."[p.119]

I bet this is good argument:)

  • what game is this?

  • Hegemony: Philip of Macedon.

  • The 'story' section is also a perfect mix of history and fan-fiction! Are we going to have such narrative parts in the game? Perhaps with Isocrates being the narrator hehe

  • Ahh,what a pleasant surprise has this video been! I read in your forum it's going to be available for download around December? I think it's high time to issue a credit card hehe

  • Macedonia and greek are two difrent countries, and Philip was Macedonian not Greek,an dAlexander is Macedonian

  • The recent Macedonian naming conflict certainly confuses things, but it was all much simpler in ancient times.

Our game takes place in between 300 and 400 BC, and back then Macedon was a kingdom of Greece.

  • Macedonia and Greece are like Canada and the US, at least back then. Same language, similar culture. I am fuzzy on the History of the region but in modern times I think that migrations of slavic peoples may have largely displaced greek populations in Macedon. Alexander was a Macedonian Greek. Everybody is right.

  • The Skopia-Fyrom Macedonia as they say was Slavs who came in 4 AD in northen Borders of Eastern Empire the Map of the Greece then is like the EE now all are Europeans then all was Greek

  • Looks really nice and seeing your website you guys spend some time researching ancient Greece.

But one question, will his son Alexander also play a part in the game?

He used to command cavalry units on young age of his fathers army!

  • Yes, Alexander will be in the game! He'll probably become playable about halfway through the game.

  • nice game about the ancient greek history!!!

  • Some time this year. We're not close enough to announce a solid date yet.

Thanks for your interest! Our lead designer has been researching Philip for about a decade now, so he has a pretty intimate knowledge of the era.

  • it was a bit more than athens and sparta. like corinth, until th romans burnt it to the grounds. and argos. those 2 guys are kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinda important.XD

  • Its not greek Greek implies Ionians or Dorians lke athens, corinth, argos, thaxos, plataea, sparta etc. Macedon didnt identify itself with these greeks, and greeks didnt identify themselves with macedonians. Read plutarch, thucydides, phillipics etc.

  • Demosthenes' Third Philippic: "...although he is not only no Greek and noway akin to Greeks, but not even a barbarian of a place honorable to mention; in

fact, a vile fellow of Macedon, from which a respectable slave could not

be purchased formerly..." The barbarians (not greek) that conquered you 2300 years ago!!!

  • Ya I whant to fuck your sister and mother with my big Macedonian dick!and thay will have Macedonian child's from me!hahaWhen do I have apointment???hahaha etiopiangreeks!

  • Ancient Macedonia was never greek!Never been greek empire that was MACEDONIAN EMPIRE!Macedonians treat greeks like slaves!End Aleksandar Macedonian dont give a shit about helenization thats a fackt!

  • when is this game coming out....and what type of game is it?

  • Well, your state is messing up history for sure...Go check what happened the 7th century in Macedonia and then come and tell us who are Macedonians and who are slavs.

  • Macedonia was part of Ancient Greece , a Greek dorian race who entually united the Greeks.

  • Well, no, Greece didn't exist per se, but it did eventually become Greece, so it's okay to call it ancient Greece >:)

  • You are absolutely right Skrapion. They were greek city-states but not united, they used to fight side by side, and they had the Olympic games where only greeks were participating. It's like EU today they are all europeans but not united as yet ;) keep the good job.

  • Thanks! We're certainly keeping our nose(s) to the grindstone(s).

  • And the best of luck to you for that , but just make sure to keeps things historically real

  • Oh, trust me. It's our hope (especially that of our designer, Jim!) that there's enough people out there who are like you and will appreciate the research we've done to keep things accurate.

  • Well, technically our game isn't medieval, it's ancient Greece. We're in 4th century BC, and the medieval times didn't start until 5th century AD. Our game takes place before the Romans, which hasn't been done too much yet.

I can sympathize with you, however, although there's *more* ancient RTSs, most of them are still really poor. I like to think that we're putting the Strategy into Real Time Strategy with this title, which is something that is sorely lacking from most RTSs.
