The Seatle scene crushed an over flamboyant 80's scene that needed to end! All the great bands of that era began selling out themselves and it just became pathetic. Who could honestly argue the musical integrity of bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains and Sound Garden? The way they dressed was a revolt to all that over glorrified, glitter laden crap and was a revolt that got back to real music. Granted...the club scene became a lot less interesting...;)

John Syke's playing on the self titled record is absolutely phenomenol.He shredded on Les Pauls,which is slightly a harder task.

True.John Sykes was incredible and his playing was a huge part of Whitesnakes sound! When he left they were never the same.

Actually, he used many guitars and amps, not just Les Pauls. I've got a few books with detailed information on his playing and recording on that album. He used at least 3 different stratocasters on the album. If you really listen to how he layered the guitar tracks, you can hear the different guitars and amps he used along with the different effects and EQ settings.
