If you're a hardcore Avatar fan, don't see this movie. It sucked so bad. I will say that I hated the way Katara and Zhao were played, and I hated the pronuciations. This may be Asian in originality, but it was completely made in America. KEEP THE PRONUNCIATIONS THE WAY THEY WERE ORIGINALLY MADE!

As in 'I always knew you were a bender' and 'get that bender', but in British slang, calling someone a bender is the same as an American calling someone a faggot. In the cartoon, it was all good, because they never divorced the word 'bender' from the element they were bending, but we had an entire movie of 'Oi! Catch that faggot!' and 'I always knew you were a fag.' Priceless.

Ok so in the part where Aang--I mean, Oohng fights the firebenders at the nothern water tribe, he literally goes towards a circle with curtains, shrugs 3 times, goes "this is just like training" and then fights some of the firebenders in a lame fashion. This movie will be lucky to break even with overseas sales. Last I remember Hollywood was in the business of making money and not just breaking even ...

yeah i totally agree this movie sucked so bad and it made me really mad because the cartoon was really really good and it doesn't do it justice at all. the actors were TERRIBLE!!! like i was sitting in the theater with my mouth open at how bad these actors were. I also don't really understand why the main characters were white instead of like the eskimo asian (sorry that sounds really ignorant) but it just made me mad because its like stay true to the cartoon!

Its like watching an idian movie, rather than an awesome asian base anime. It will be aleast great if they put it this way where the fire nation should be japanese, the earth nation is korean, the water tride are eskimo, and the air nomads are chinese. base on the way they are dress, I think its should be aleast that way. but its funny to watch the idians do some kung fu. aw man, I wish the cast are better. Nice rant btw.

I didn't really care about the race thing after awhile tho , it would be cool if they had got all Asians but i dout that would happen. What i was mad about was they couldn't find better actors. It wasn't even really the actors fault they weren't given much to work with.

If you're a hardcore Avatar fan, don't see this movie. It sucked so bad. I will say that I hated the way Katara and Zhao were played, and I hated the pronuciations. This may be Asian in originality, but it was completely made in America. KEEP THE PRONUNCIATIONS THE WAY THEY WERE ORIGINALLY MADE!

The funniest thing about it is that it keeps referring to any whatever-benders as 'benders' on it's own all the time. As in 'I always knew you were a bender' and 'get that bender', but in British slang, calling someone a bender is the same as an American calling someone a faggot. In the cartoon, it was all good, because they never divorced the word 'bender' from the element they were bending, but we had an entire movie of 'Oi! Catch that faggot!' and 'I always knew you were a fag.' Priceless.

I've not watched the film, and I'm still not going to. I said millions of times before it came out that it was going to be shit. The fact that they had to get rid of the word "Avatar", which is the whole point of the goddam story, just because another film came out at the same time with the name "Avatar" showed that they hadn't even done any research. Surly you'd make sure you weren't coming out with a film at the same time and something with the same name. My predictions were correct, it seems.

Sad thing was, I went into this movie expecting it to be horrible, since it was trying to condense about 7 hours of awesome into an hour and a half. So I was expecting the worse and I was still disappointed.
Far too many changes to the story, no Kyoshi Warriors (meaning no Suki later), no Bumi, Sokka (pronounced wrong) had no witty jokes, firebenders needing a source of fire to bend? And water benders who were then too stupid to just douse the flaming balls that had been thrown in. Oy vey.

I want to be honest with you Mr.Long, I actually enjoyed "Dragonball:Evolution", I enjoy it even more than "Speed Racer (Live-Action)".
Another thing is I actually liked Jake Lloyd in "Star Wars:Epidsode 1", don't know about "Jingle All the Way" though.
I never saw this movie in theaters but I might see it on DVD someday.

I like your review, but I found your complete disregard of how something is supposed to be pronounced to be completely insensitive. It may be a minor point, but how something is pronounced shows a level a respect that you seem not to have. If you want your opinion to be heard and accepted, then perhaps you should not have such blatant indifference to such matters as to culture and respect of those cultures

Ok so in the part where Aang--I mean, Oohng fights the firebenders at the nothern water tribe, he literally goes towards a circle with curtains, shrugs 3 times, goes "this is just like training" and then fights some of the firebenders in a lame fashion. The thing that pisses me off about that is the shrugging beforehand and then saying "this is just like training" which literally came out of nowhere.

I expect there will be a lot more drama coming M. Night's way in the time between now and the next Last Airbender movie.

@Europasingstome This movie was not a success financially. The production and advertising budget was about $300 mil. The movie domestically has totaled 130 Mil and overseas about the same. This movie was supposed to have put up huge numbers based on the global fan base; Paramount was expecting $300 Mil. domestic and another $300 mil overseas. This movie will be lucky to break even with overseas sales. Last I remember Hollywood was in the business of making money and not just breaking even ...
