Woah! guys, shut up about the price. He knows he was ripped off, no need to tell him over and over. $10, $40, $60, $90 or even $100, it doesn't matter, it's still a great knife. Nice review ;)
All yanks listen in, Aus is very similar to England in terms of knife laws/prices etc. This exact knife costs THE EXACT same amount over here in the UK - £52 GBP, which equates to 90 Aus dollars. Why knives are so much more over here than in the US, I cannot say, aside from perhaps importing it, but the prices tend to be a form of deterrent to stop anyone from just getting one. Good review man, you know your shit.
$90 is still about $80 American. Yea.. you definetly coulda spent about half that on ebay or an online site. Maybe buying one at a store in Aus would cost you more but you gotta shop smarter. Maybe ask your parents to help with a credit card or something. Nice knife though.
$90 WTF were you thinking.....b 4 u say anything about Aus being expensive 4 knives i am australian and i got mine for $40 from e-bay and free postage...sorry to say but you did get ripped off...oh and the sheath is meant to be included so yeah...word of advice and i learnt this the hard way too buy your knives from overseas its way cheaper. but nothing illegal ofcourse
@corndog815 cutting edge is good for some things , check out the usa prices on stuff before you buy. You WILL need a paypal account or similiar tho. (makes it too easy)
@corndog815 love that store. It isn't flashy or anything but I'v always found cutting edge reliable and a good source for just about any knife you want.
Even if he overpaid it's not like this knife is going to break on him in the next year of normal use. We can expect a decade or more of good use. Live and learn I'd say. He'll get $90 of use and then some.
dude you really got ripped off.. whether you knew the seller or not... i got a genuine 110 for 28 dollars.... and converted to AU is only 32... so you really got ripped the fuck off...
NOO NO NO! NONE OF U PPL UNDERSTAND. AUS ISNT LIKE TH USA, WE DONT HAVE EDCs OR ANYTHING LIEK THAT. AND THE KNIVES ARE LIKE RARE OVER HERE...ANY AUSSIE WILL KNOW WAT IM TALKING ABOUT. ITS NOT JUST THE EXCHANGE RATE ITS THE DEMAND AND AVAILABILITY AND ALL.
The thing is , in Oz , we dont have walmart etc. Kmart DOES NOT sell ammo or even hunting equipment. Although I have seen a Tramontina camp knife at BigW.
So if you want to buy a Buck 110 you'll have to buy one at a Sports/hunting store , where they will charge you 140$ and even higher.
i would really liek to see some American knife lovers come over to australia and buy some...wat u can get ur 10 dollar knives at BigW for cheap as...but no, no SOG's or Spydies or any of that.
@UnAvengedSoul actually, he didnt, if he takes good care of the knife it'll last forever. my great grandpa got 55 years outta his, and he probably would've gotten more.
cool. ill have to have a look around for a cheaper one if i ever need another 1. And no i did not get ripped off because i know my seller extremely well and know that this is a genuine buck with the sheath for free.
Good review. I use the 110 that was my father's knife. It is a little over 30 years old and was used quite bit Dad and me when I was a kid. It is still going strong except it does hav a bit of wiggle in the lock up.
It's a OK knife. The 420HC they use now a days is pretty soft metal, meaning rather then the blade chipping if you hit something hard, it will just dent and with a little time and elbow grease you can get that out (with a sharpening stone.) I guess $90 in Australia isn't too bad considering it's imported. Stateside you can get them for $29 with a canvas sheath (better IMHO). Get some DMT sharpeners and keep it factory sharp. Remember a sharp knife is safer then a dull one.
oh wow that actually allow that in australia? haha kidding nice knife im gonna get me one soon
