Let's not have the Toyota/Jeep argument. Nice rig, we've all had a bad day out on the trail. Broke my sway bar my first day. That's what I guess for driving stock haha.
@MagicalMrSkylar You say that cause u dont have a Toyota. Jeeps are just cheap fun and thats it, they are not reliable in any way and to make them good wheeling rides there is lots that needs to be upgraded. Not in a Land Cruiser
So funny. It's awesome seeing some of these comments. Reminds me of the brilliance of the lowest common denominator in human beings.
For the ones who asked why I didn't hook up the winch, a buddy of mine with lockers and 36's didn't make it through the day before. I talked shit and said my 33s and open Jeep would. Joke's on me, I did not. Luckily I had the 8.8 ready at the house. That's right, I was not locked.
I have noticed how it's usually Jeeps that snap the axles, or snap something under there. Then again, like with the Cherokees...Or the wranglers. They have a series of bars and shocks that run all across the front end. And as for the rear, like with older Wranglers (Like my father's) They have weak axles, unless you do a swap. Poor guy though, lol. The rear? Looks like he has a front wheel drive now, haha
@MorteWulfe why would they pay? No need to get the insurance company involved. I don't know many people that will go wheel their rig, then call the insurance company about something the broke.
Also, the tires were bald swampers. They weren't clogged, so those of you who "looked close", get your eyes checked. They were litterally slicks minus the outside teeth. Switched to the Trxxus MTR's and have had zero issue (before I sold it).
All the guys saying other makes are better. Go to any off road park and lets tally up make/models. Enjoy your grocery getters :)
REALLY? Most Nissans have IFS for the front axel. Anyone who knows anything about offroading knows that for everything minus desert racing IFS sucks b/c of the CV joints. Solid front axels stock FTW
Patrols are solid axles front and rear... you may be thinkin of the navara or something lol.
Patrols, landcruisers and suzuki sierra's shit all of jeeps.
Like the jeep they are all solid axles but they are more over engineered, go harder and last longer... and i know what your thinking about the ZOOK, its little it this its that... dont bother talkin shit about em coz theyre tough little fuckers, way tougher then jeeps... ohhh and landrovers hahahah
The best I've seen a Nissan go off road is one wrecking into a ditch. Jeeps are superior. The only things better are Hummer H1s and Humvees. Take your weak ass Nissan and suck it
Beacuse the dana 35 they put in everything except for the Rubicons are weak as shit. Might as well put in a Ford 8.8 they have the same gears and are pretty cheap and easy to install.
I think you mixed up what I read or i'm misreading your comment. The 8.8 doesn't break like the dana 35, therefor the 35 should be swapped out with an 8.8 asap, they're easy to do too.
problem is your tires...look close at the video. They are clogging up and not cleaning out.Might be good in rocks and stuff, but not mud! You end up driving on 'slicks'. A better 'mud' tire and you would have climbed right over that hump and not even noticed it.
Also, air down...20# max..and you'll see a difference.
We have plenty of trails up here and because of the mudholes to get there-have to find tires to deal with that and the rocks!
We just did the Killington Jeep Jamboree with new Cepek Crushers, aired down. Goodyear MTR's are supposed to be mud tires-but we replaced them with the crushers because the MTR's don't 'clear out' mud-just get slick. Same areas we had to winch on MTR's the Crushers rolled right through without spinning-but on Killington, where there was clay under the mud-nobody moved an inch. Everyone got winched. What was under or in the mud you had there?
It's that damn clay that kills you...on regular glop and mud the Crushers walked right over the MTR's...but probably every rig on the Jamboree had different tires and nothing was cleaning out that clay. But my wife drove circles around them on rocks with the crushers. Yes, she did most of the driving this year! Got behing the wheel once and wouldn't let me back in.
I bought my wife a 94 YJ and had it rebuilt, overhauled, lifted, etc., she wants to drive the rubicon and let me play in the YJ. 4 cyl 5 spd compared to 6 cyl automatic with 33's...at least I did install a lift, disconnects, SYE, and it's on Rubicon MOAB 16" rims with new MTR's (31 x 10)...not that it will do much in mud with those-but it is probably 800# lighter than the rubicon .
Come up to NH and play-we have 30 miles of trails I guide on with everything you can think of for obstacles.
All the times we've been back in there and never seen a nisson or landcruzer, oh yeah wait a minute we did but they were backing out to let the real wheeler's through.
ya think he would of given up like 1 minute in but he keeps on spinnin!!
(figoja and 3staggerlee3)
i cant decide between a nissan patrol or a toyota landcruiser but ive got a landcruiser and i have never in my hole entire life seen a toyota stuck in mud and ive driven through thick muddy damns up past the window!!
That thing looked so tough! Just the way it handled hitting things with the bumper and watching it getting all smacked around. Granted the axle broke :/ Was it only a 4x2? I didn't see the front tires spinning. I think I want a jeep now.
OK, you got me. Silly me for thinking that a vehicle that is continuing to attempt to move under it's own power in slippery conditions could not do so unless it was locked. What probably happened is he put the lockers in without telling me, then took them out later so I would not know.
Ok, you are right. I apologize for making it so insanely obvious that I know nothing about lockers by taking a video of another jeep going through a mud hole. I should hang my head low, walk out to my jeep and pull them out because I obviously was not worthy enough to have installed them on it. I am glad that people like you can still sleep peacefully at night knowing there are people like me, uneducated about lockers, roaming the this earth.
