@holly2222..green day's music is largely lyrical...they have switched genres in all their albums and written songs related to different topics ranging from politics to war to people being fake to what not...now combine this with the fact that they make awesome (though maybe repetitive riffs), and you say that green day are like justin beiber...seriously?

@adriantrackssongs within my first month or so of playing guitar i could play green day stuff with ease. its literally like a few power chords.. solo i guess ppl could have questions about? but still very much easy

@holly2222 well it is easy in theory, to make it sound good is not so much in my opinion, billie joe is a great guitar player, the tone he gets is amazing.

i had the luck to have a dad/guitar player home, but i understand people who have questions, it is normal if you dont know what a power chord is :).

@adriantrackssongs haha ya i can see your point but i do feel anyone who is considered a "good" musician to be able to get a more basic song to sound pretty clean and good. once you start getting to higher levels of playing that incorporate things that take more precision such as sweep picking i think its easier to judge and classify skill. i unfortunately pretty much learned guitar on my own and i guess through classes in school? but the school didnt help much at all :/ haha.

@holly2222 well, this is a guitar lesson for beginners, i dont see your point really, know how to sweep pick doesnt make you a good musician, in fact being a good guitar player doesnt make you a good a musician, music is a form of art, it doesnt matter, i have a LOT more respect for billie joe than for michael angelo or something like that.

@adriantrackssongs no it doesnt necessarily make you a good musician but most that do know how to sweep effectively usually have a good understanding of music theory and thus how they come about a writing their own sweepz or what not. as a guitarist i dont really see Billie Joe as much of a good musician. his work is like stuff i did in high school. as a singer hes pretty good but to be honest i really doubt you can tell much of someones guitar skill on one who does such basic stuff.

@adriantrackssongs what i consider a good guitar musicians would be someone who is more well rounded and would be able to perform at a level of cleanliness and such that he does. to put together simple songs and perform em well just shows that he can play some and produce what is now being seen at repetitive mainstream rock.

@holly2222 i respect him as a guitar player for his amazing tone, how he hits the strings, how he came and still coming with the greatest riffs in rock n roll, i see the most of the virtuoso players like athetls and not like artists.

not all of them, i love steve vai, i love joe satriani, but even they im sure will recognize it.

just my two cents, i dont want to change your mind, but look beyond technique and you will find art.

@adriantrackssongs dude i guess.. ive seen Green Day live a couple times but once again idk dude its just not that hard to get great tone with music like this if youre a half decent musician. also like i said earlier Green Day is more main stream focused and why some of their "riffs" are more popular. tons of other bands have better sounding and even more complex riffs. Green Day is a good band overall i guess? as in their music together sounds appealing to an ear but thats kinda it.

@adriantrackssongs just cause the music sounds decent to some doesnt mean ther a great musician. a lot of people like Green Day yet a lot also dont, kinda like a Justin Beiber thing. People can produce popular (catchy) stuff doesnt mean ther good musicians. Idk i feel that id have to see something more out of Billie Joe other than this basicness of his songs, the simplicity is easy to match though may sound decent.
