I take an even stronger line on guns than you do (but then I am a European/Brit). I don't even think the police should have guns. They are objects designed to kill, not to defend or protect.

I agree on all issues with you, except gun control, i have to side with your friend. I live on a border city in Mexico where drug cartels rule the streets just because they have guns and the regular law abiding citizens can't defend themselves. Hunting rifles and small handguns are fine by me, they are good defensive weapons, and in a nasty situation they can work as an offensive weapon. If the regular population is left defenseless from organized crime, it can get real bad for everyone.

The 2nd ammendment is not about guns - its about states rights. The concept was to allow citizens to bear arms SOLELY for the establishment and maintenance of a state militia. Not for hunting, not for collecting, not for any other reason. The concept was to allow citizens to keep the federal troops from going into a state and taking away rights granted by a state. Saying that the 2nd amendment gives people the right to have any weapons for any reason is a big long-term lie foisted by the NRA.

Let me get this straight....they both agreed on the issues. I'll at least applaud the conservative republican on keeping her religious views out of politics, which is how it should be anyways. 1-guns - yes, we as citizens should be allowed to bear arms (within reason). do I believe my 83yo grandmother who lives by herself 20 miles from the nearest police station should have a gun, in case another person begins burglarizing her neighbors again ... yes. do i think AK-47s should be allowed to be sold to civilians ... nope

2. gay marriage - absolutely should be allowed. it's a fundamental right to equality, & religion has nothing to do with it.

3. Iran - no 2 invade, yes 2 surveillance.

I agree with Mormon-girl about bearing arms. I mean, if only the police and military can own weapons, what happens if holocaust 2.0 goes into effect? What happens if say, the government tries to seize complete power? We need a way as a people to 'fight back' per-say.

@rebelmoronorunescape Yes but if you look at most other countires in the world such as the United Kingdom and most of europe the Goverment hasnt tried to take over and seize absolute power because that just wouldnt work without public support regardless of whether the public could fight back with guns or not. Also if you look at the riots happening in England at the moment the people are still pretty much able to go against the police without the need for guns. Just my opinion :D
