@fucu41 It was a very hard time for black people and a lot of the great black musicians of the time were subject to severe racism, Ray Charles being one of them, so he was right to point it out, it would have been wrong not to.
@IamEleanorRigby ray aswell as ella and nat..did nothing for the civil rights movement in the early days, probably because there were scared that they woudnt be allowed to play if they spoke up.ray finally stood up for anti-segregation audencies in memphis,he was the 1st performer to do so.
I like Elvis' version better. Elvis sings it, Ray Charles screams it. That's the difference. Elvis certainly danced better than Ray Charles, too. Elvis haters will always deny these things.
@elvisinmunich I always liked the Elvis song, and I realize these things are subjective, but I don't know how you can possibly prefer Elvis's version. This is insanely good.
That's Billy Preston playing that smokin Hammond..

@elvisinmunich Elvis wasn't the least bit of the talent Ray was. Elvis was a decent copycat though...fun to watch

It was cool that they would have a ninety minute show with just Brother Ray. The bad thing is that Dick Cavett lived up to his first name.
