  • Wouldn't it just be much more effective to spray the water/methanol mist in the intake before the the throttlebody?

  • @H3dgeh but then you need the methanol, and the stuff goes in the engine. like this, its just water, and it doesnt go in the engine

  • @pepene93 Sure but the methanol in the engine would cool it too and at the same time raise the octane of the fuel. I think it would be even more efficient. Looks like i'm gonna do some testing with both of these systems...

  • the sprayers are to close... space them farther apart for a better result... get more water over the majority of the IC...

  • where can i get this

  • Alcohol will cool it even faster than water. I would think 90% isopropyl would work.

  • @ExtremePeppers also costs alot more

  • @ExtremePeppers Alcohol is also flammable...

  • Nice!

Use better noozels, to much water, fog ist better.

Have a look at my video. I used a 70psi pump and 4 fogger.

  • Question: Dont intercoolers get really hot? If so would it cause the intercooler itself to Expand, warp or break over time? Or even rust out with all that water chilling in there?

  • @EYEREIVEPRODUCTIONS aluminum doesn't rust out. . . only a light surface oxidation

  • @dostuff1234 oh ok :P Thanks!

  • Simple test to prove the working of water:

Drive 70-80km/h and stick youre hand out the window. Try to keep in mind what temp it feld like.

Now soak youre hand in water and do the same...you will notice the difference for sure! :)

  • Someone get him a rag, your car is drooling.

  • Your a dumbass. The water is being sprayed on the out side of the cooler.

  • @vwbeamer um... as opposed to the inside? as long as there's heat to transfer spraying the outside will work just fine?

  • i want to do this to my car from the wiper fluid but how do i stop the wipers from going when i press in the button for the fluid can any one tell me plz

  • Water + dust(dirt) = dirty radiator is when air can't flow thru the radiator to cool it.

Water + heat + air = rust and corrosion.

Good as long as you don't mind changing the radiator even if it made of aluminum or what ever. That's why it's best to cool it internally not external. Flush the system add an xtra fan n etc. More water would add more weight to the car. You do the math.

  • when you turn it on, does the power come instantly (like NOS) or does it ease on, like a tiny turbo with massive lag

  • why dont u install a water injection on the intercooler?

  • thats interesting, ive never even thought about it

  • haha, im totally gonna do this, since i have a kustom hood, ima use the pump for the windsheild cleaners, theyre cheap at the jusnkyard and some folks sel them for 70 dollars :O

  • Have any you try to drive ur car cold? it feels like it has more hp than when you warm it up. by cooling the turbo down with air you gain hp. The same with water/meth kits.

  • can u have a intercooler w/out a turbo? j/w

  • @BlackSpades45

Well, you could. but it wouldn't do a damn bit of good, since even if it were 100% efficient, you could only cool the air to the same temperature as the surrounding air, which is the same air you'd be sucking through the intake. The point of the intercooler is to cool down the air that has been significantly heated because its been compressed by the turbo.

  • do intercoolers cool down the exhaust before it goes to the turbo?

  • No, it cools down the air that comes from the turbo and goes into the engine.

  • @cenata bahaha not your wrong it cool down the charge air that hits the intercooler ather a run.

  • fuk u, u

  • it cools down the intake air before going to the engine. that way the air is denser so more fuel can be added.

  • this is the flow:

    air filter > turbo > intercooler > intake > engine > turbo > exhaust

  • @stephensamperi

haha what a moron, do some basic reading on turbo systems

  • question why spray the intrcooler ?what do it do for the car

  • it cools the air that is going in to the engine

  • Water transfers heat 27 times faster than air, that's why ;)

  • @magnersnice

External water spray has nothing to do with water's "transfer of heat." It's all about the high heat of vaporization.

  • @geonerd You are a muppet! When the water vaporises it carries the heat away from the FMIC i.e. it cools it down, i.e. it transfers the heat from the fmic to the atmosphere

  • @magnersnice Actually geonerd is right, unlike yourself muppet.

The water has a higher specific heat capacity than metal meaning it takes more energy for it to heat up (3600~ joules if my memory serves me well for 1kg or litre of water).

When you add that effect plus the heat generated by the adiabatic heating, the affect of the extra cooling makes the "charged" air more dense. Therefore more Oxygen per volume and add that with more fuel, means more power.

  • @pilotboy84 Do you wake up in the morning and sometimes wish you were dead? You bore me. All I am going to say is I have 6 thumb up you have none. In thick fuck terms, I am right.

  • @magnersnice Can't you hack the fact that someone else is smarter than you ???. Hence the reason why you're insulting people. Let me guess, you don't even own an intercooled/Forced inducted vehicle. All you own is a bike with training wheels. Poor pathetic little soul

  • @pilotboy84 I own a vRS with the PD TDI engine with hybrid t4 turbo, egr delete, smf conversion, helix clutch, replaced the SMIC with a FMIC of a WRX STI. I ran meths for 6 months and it was shite, gave me about 4-6 bhp on the rr. I now use a nos set up with variable purging. It only kicks out 260bhp and 410lb ft, ( around half of my last project car) but more then enough for a daily driver and still gives me 40mpg pop on to briskoda if you want proof... Smarter then me? No bother.

  • cuales son las medidas del intercooler

  • Got a question.. i m driving a mitsubishi colt and behind the fmic there is the radiator and behind the turbo.. is there a chance that water would go straight onto the turbocharger and cause problems such as cracks etc?

  • Hi there. No it shouldn't. Turbochargers have a high scorching temperature, which means that every single drop of water that lands on the turbo will evaporate straight away.

  • I have an evo 9.Where can i get this and will it fit in mine evo?

  • use the windsheild washer sparyers, thats all you gotta do, works fine.

  • yup works for me. using 2 boost cooler big jugs, one going both to the twin intercoolers and the other right before the plenum. Check out my vr4 videos.

  • pretty gay...what happends when your doing 65mph down the road...that water is only gonna be pushed back...if should be spraying from the front...or better yet just use Nitrous or CO2..will get it a lot colder then that water could ever do not to mention the power gains it has over water...thought water is easier to get and dont need to refill nitrous/co2 at a shop...but thats the price you pay for more power

  • he's using the water for cold the intercooler not for more HP, loser.

  • you gain power by reducing the temperature in the intercooler. The air heats up alot as it passes through the turbo, so you try to cool that ait back down so you dont lose power. For every 100degrees F your intake temperature goes up, you lose 10hp.

  • completely not true, ever try wrapping a cold bottle of beer in a wet paper towel before throwing it in the freezer? freezes like 10x faster cuz the water cools it. True, CO2 would prolly make it a little bit cooler but the main thing is because its wet, thats all that really matters on a sprayer system...

  • Not gay at all! Water wets the fins, then evaporates, taking heat with it, just like a swamp cooler. It's a simple way to further cool the intake air. Water spray should drop the plenum temp at least another 20F (a wild assed guess). This will give you ~3% greater air density and roughly 3% more power. Adding an intercooler to your turbo is probably one of the cheapest sources of power you can buy. Spending another $10~20 on a junkyard water sprayer to gain 5~10hp is a screaming bargain!

  • not suck a good spray i mean the water could be just hot 1 day and the next cold but it wont do any good if its warm water cry02 is better system

  • hi mate. have u tested this squirting nozzle, to that of a mister/fogger nozzle?

  • it keeps the temperatures down by spraying cold water between the fins of the intercooler

  • cool lol whats it for??
