@simonglenayre Hi Simon, Thanks for the kind comment. There's also a new video from me on left-hand technique at the youtube "stickplayers" channel called:
I am purchasing a stick as soon as i can afford one.
I want to use one purely for a bass role. Would you reccomned a standard stick or a stick bass? Like, is there a disadvantage to the bass fourths tuning for tapping?
The SB8 would be a good choice. If you are going to be only tapping in a bass role, there's a tuning called Dual Bass Reciprocal that works on all of the Sticks. It has 2 sets of strings, 1 in standard 4ths and 1 in inverted 5ths with a common central low string. I'll be getting a Ten String Grand Stick, which has 10 strings on a 12-string sized board, in the DBR tuning next week....
Any Stick can be set up in any tuning, so you can easily experiment if you want.
YOUR SO TALENTED . . .Its not fair haha but seriously you are an inspiration to all of music and i have one question there is a video of you on youtube

you play a song or riff whatever you would like to call it at 17 secondes into the video can you please tell me what song it is i have looked for months and have had no luck finding it
After watching your video, I wanted to try my stick tuned with 5th. I use 4th tuning with tritone tuning in my two highest strings on bass, but when I try to play something that you play on my tuning, it is very challenging :(
the inverted 5ths tuning for bass is very powerful for one hand by itself or two hands. The expanded range along the fret and the string works particularly well for tapping. Let me know how it works out.
Thanks for the kind comment. stickistdotcom has a forum where instruments are listed sometimes. This one is a standard 10-string Stick with the Stickup (stock pickup) made in 2003.
I love these bass lessons. The section of the Stick Book that covers this was a section I visited and re-visited many times. These are especially useful if you're playing with a band and I used this a TON with Coup Detroit.
As a matter of fact ... the bassline to the Coup Detroit tune "Beware" is a 9/8 variation of one of the 2-handed bass lessons from Greg's book.
Hi Jim, At the time I had light gauge on there. Emmett has a new medium set now, that I'm trying now and I like a lot. The sound comes in large part from the added motion of the arm. Tapping with the finger alone doesn't give that same "punch."
The tuning is Classic Stick inverted 5ths C,G,D,A,E ascending from the middle.
The pickupis a Stickup and I recorded through the StepABout if memory serves.
I like 2:54!

Is this the type of Bass that was used in Paul Simon's "You Can Call Me Al" bass riff?
