when useing the ropedart or meteor hammer the wrapping and the kicks are not needed but are added for flair when useing the rope dart i mainly use my arms shoulders elbows and maby my feet and a spinning strike can get over 2 inches of penetration into an oak tree
@mack2d2 i was about to say the same thing, high speed allows for glancing blows but the slower setups with the most skill would really be the finishers, it shows the difference between traditional kungfu using a weapon and modern wushu using a display with a tassel
what kind of school would i look for if i wanted to get better at this..i must say i am pretty fluent with a weighted tennis ball on a braided cotton 12 foot rope..i started with a masterlock on paracord..that hurt like a MOTHER! ive been doing this for a few hours everyday for the past 3 months or so
hehe, well left to yourself it would take ages, try some kung fu school and ask there whether they have this weapon, or soft weapons. Some styles do not have many weapons and some schools have ceased to use them.
ive just started teaching this to myself mainly from vids on here can fire it off my knee elbow and foot so far but mate id love to be able to that one day
thank you for posting this vid i wated it a few dozen times and have been toying with a rope dart (no disrespect to the weapon but no teachers in this area) i can now do the move at 0:46-0:52 which is imo the hardest move in that routine. thank you again
Can't because no one can show you? Or wont? Because it's too much effort?
This guy just showed you, but you can't learn it.
I find this to be a rather strange philosophy for a martial artist, even a wanna be, At least the wannabe's go out and break bones and bleed for their desires. And strangely enough some of them achieve glory, some don't.
@fullfreydog I think that's how it works at a school too. It's one of the "self disciplining" weapons, in that your sensi doesn't have to hit you when you mess up.
@fullfreydog a weapon is built for a fighting style not the other way around so you can teach ur self ANY weapon and it could possibly more effective then the original style its just how well you think and learning the basics then playing and allowing urself to try new things
Im happy that you did well in this tournament. I met you in florida. I was with Eric yao. I was one of the guys that were helping out with his seminar. It wasnt cool how I guy told you that he was better than you on this page. Everyone has their own style.
lol. i kept hearing someone saying "OOHH YEEAA!!! whoo!" still the guy performing is pretty good. awesome. i wish i knew how to use one of those rope dart things.
hell ya i was there!!! I'm on the right side of the frame, in the black shirt, with the arms folded. (at 50 seconds) that was so much more amazing up close and personal though. He worked that thing like a magic trick, it was sweet!!
damn youre pretty good almost as good as me but I havnt had any formal training all the other people on tthese rope dart videos suck I will post my own video soon so you know I'm not blowing smoke up youre ass
Hey man you're really good!

cool looking and all but this is strictly vanity... I'd love to see a video of you delivering some real power behind your moves.

You got some awesome skills. You should really get a camera and a space to do a good video that lets us see the whole thing.

The difference between them is your attitude.
8thsinner 3 years ago
Absolutely correct. There's a lot of folks who learned to use a rope dart and never set foot into a wushu school.
I'm one of those wannabe's that gets smacked by his rope dart almost every day.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Its funny how the majority of the audience is white while the Asian, Blacks, Hispanics and the rest are peppered through out.

Very good, I can't tell you how many times I've hit myself with "soft" weapons.
Congratulations, and thanks for showing that there is still substance to the martial arts after XMA did the whole raping them thing.

boredbaby247 5 years ago
hey so is it just a string that attaches a rope dart or is it actually a chain?
azn43dragon 5 years ago
azn43dragon -- it could be either, really, but most people use chains.
