The convertible reminds me of the VW Thing from the 70's. I would love to see Daihatsu make a return to the American market. If the Smart car can be sold here, then Daihatsu's got a chance.

Daihatsu combine retro and the future of motoring. Actually quite cool - clearly also only concepts at this stage but I can see the Japanese getting into this sort of thing in the not too distant future.

I disagree with all of the negative comments.

These are city cars & perfectly suited to their purpose:

- Average speeds in many of the cities around the world are 20 - 30km/h (12 - 18 mph)

- The majority of cars that you see driving in many cities have only one occupant

- The average occupant weight is 75kg (165lb)

I don't see the point, in a city at least, of driving around in an elegant BMW, Audi or whatever. Within a city environment these elegant cars waste 10 times the energy required.
