  • Why yes, yes I will bang you in the car. Haha.

  • Yes you are.

  • Wow,she does a very groovy rendition fer sure.

  • First of all, Nora Jones is hella cute. Second, I first Roxy Music's version a long time ago, and I like this version too.

  • What is Youtube anyway? A medium for sharing video/audio and a venue for media consumption and comment? Not much 'more than this' I would say. Nice job, Norah!

  • terrible!!!

  • I love any version of this song - even Bill Murray's!

  • When you cover a song, you should think before you do it. Clever will not get you through it. This arrangement is clever, but boring.

  • Some song are so originaly amazing than any cover could get better! I think this song is a perfect example of that! :)

  • Nah, i dont like it.

  • Yeah...it's making me sleepy...Add some weed and a girl...Oh yeah...I think I would hear every single instrument individually...that scratching thing is getting louder...LOUDER!!!!

  • Very nice. Smmmmooooth. Well done Nora.

  • Snore-a Jones!

  • Vapid. What's with the smacks of Amy Winehouse/Angelina Jolie in the singing/picture? Welsh people can do much better with their singing. P.S. : I am thinking "outside the box."

Everyone who was living through the 1980's were born to "think outside the box," - and our stuff sounded pretty damn good too as a result.

  • I love Norah Jones and I love Roxy Music, but this wasn't my favorite. Not bad, just not my favorite for a cover.

  • Most Covers that try to be better than original arent. One exception - for me - is: "Its my life" from "no doubt". The Nora Jones version of "more than this" was not meant to be a better copy, and so it stands out and need not to be compared to the original as "better" or "worse"

  • @crocotone I agree with you, I always loved this song done by RM and I was"'around" when it came out. I love Nora Jones and what she did with it here is sort of a Re- invention of the song. Love it.

  • I'm one of those who liked Roxy Music's original, being of that generation, but when I heard Norah's cover I thought wow - it sounds like the song was written for her voice.

  • Ah Hell..it's a good cover....Nothing ever will be like when I was in HS and riding down the road with my girlfriend under my arm listening to this in the night as we drove on. I miss the 80s sometimes. It was and is a beautiful and haunting lyric.

  • Beautiful song, beautifully performed.

  • musically nothing wrong with this song. I actually prefer it when covers do something different with an original otherwise the cover becomes redundant in the sense that you could just listen to the original. I just feel a lot of the energy is gone in this cover compared to the original. B

  • Me gusto

  • Whats all the fuss ? Why do people think that a cover HAS to be played and sung EXACTLY as the original note for note ? Then those same people when they get that cover complain that it lacked originality ( Of course it did ! It's just a copy ) She took this song and made it HERS for this cover. She didn't butcher it. If you don't like the Idea of cover tunes that think OUTSIDE THE BOX -then perhaps you should just only listen to the original artist. 'Nuf said .

  • @kbdevo1962 I agree with you 100% on the double-edged sword of making a cover.

However, as a fan of the original, I don't think this worked.

A for effort, but I'll have to give it a C- altogether.

  • @kbdevo1962 If there is one thing I don't like it is a cover that tries to slavishly mimic the original (hint: the original will ALWAYS be better). The best covers and the ones that don't sound like a cover because the artist does it his/her own way.

  • Suave e provocante interpretação !

    I love Nora Jones !

  • Thumbs up if you think kevkas73 is a pompous deep thinking funeral dirge.

  • @EBBadd1 normally I would respond in kind but since your comment is so awesome I will not. Never been called a funeral song before......classic!!!!!

  • This chick is a suicide maker she sucks so bad it's without description@kevkas73You're a stupid butthole.

  • thanks for totally butchering this song nora....

  • @mwupchurch Brian Ferry is the HEAT but she took this song up about 5 notches....the original is poppy and hollow. this song is mature and deep!! I like Brian Ferry but there is no comparision.'

  • what a crap cover...blehhh

  • some really odd comments by obvious non-jazz people.....talking about beats and choruses.....WTF!!!!! Stop really, just stop......to all the brits leaving comments because an American artist BLEW UP a weak song by a very talented Brian Ferry---GTFOH!!!!! (get the fuck outta here) Europe has a long history of supporting and nuturing jazz, Europe STAND UP!!!!

  • ugly brits half cocked on german stein showing their ass.....the original sounds like cotton candy pop gone bad... Brian Ferry is a talent but this verison has got soul!!!!! It is deep while the original is shallow and immature.

  • Comment removed

  • egghh! jazz for the sake of it, nothing worse.

  • @kmburss a comment just to comment....worse....

  • I could sit through this if I was trying to get laid in an upscale cocktail lounge in foreign country chatting up a powerful woman with a big brain. Probably....

  • BAARFFFFF

  • What the f_____ is this??? Why does this girl think, that she can sing just anything, just because she's a famous singer. This is really an awfull version of an 80's kicker hit.

The original song has good drums, good bass , a great voice for pop, a great guitar. It's perfect. Why then, are there people who screw everything ????

Conclusion, when some songs are great, you just have to leave them that way.

NORA: Nobody cares about your feelings of sing those songs in your style.

  • like a dream in the night... we have no comment on reality?? lolololoolllolollhahahahahahahahhahahahahahah

  • Ew.

  • just as an acknowledgement to the talent that is bryan ferry & the obvious love she has for this song, it is a lovely gesture. i am sure he would be flattered to hear another rendition, but in my opinion....bryan ferry is a true gracious gentleman of distinction who sang THE most romantic song in the world!!! every song & performance exudes an debonair, worldy & seductive soul!!! friend me: lisa lyrykillassassin cammon on fb

  • nice effort but I could do better with a Casio keyboard on Tamba mode

  • UUUUUUUMMMMMM...... NO

  • You always take a big risk by covering a song that is already perfection, but I think she did okay. The only part I really didn't like was the way they did the chorus. Love Nora though. Very sweet, mature voice.

  • Not crazy about the over, but she is a gifted singer.

  • This totally sucks.

  • I must be the only one who actually loves this song.

  • Has that Winehousey on the nod quality...

  • My ears have just been raped. And not in the good kind of rough sex sort of way either. Like, a stranger in a dark alley with whiskey on his breath and bad BO.

  • It's good that Norah experiments with different songs. It usually works quite well. This one is okay, but the jazz chords take the magic out of the song.

  • I can't like this... so sorry. As much as I like Nora, Bryan is just not meant to be messed with.

  • As much as I like Nora Jones but most covers shouldn't be made - this is one more of it :-( ...

  • Nice job!!!!

  • ...still think Emmie's version of this is way better..........It's the slowwww tempo of this version that seems.....to.......yawn!!!.........sorry what was I saying....

  • @Cinaed42 LOL

  • I hate Nora Jones's music. Nothing personal against her or her fans, but her music is a perfect example of why today's music sux. Tuneless, lacking in arrangement, dirge-like monotone vocals, it just sounds like talentless noise played by strung out addicts or people trying way to hard to seem disaffected.

  • ZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz..................

  • So sue me, but I like this version! So many covers are just imitations of the original. Charlie Hunter and Norah Jones have put their own stamp on it, which is what a cover should do.

  • she needs to be zapped with a cattle prod

  • i think missy higgins does a way better cover of this song.

  • Or, wait. Is it the girl from Ipanema on pot or downers?

  • Hearing this takes me back to an earlier time.... like yesterday when I took the elevator.

  • I love Norah Jones and her covers are usually great but this doesn't have the depth of the original but I guess she lends her own attitude to it.

  • You know, she really is talented and I love her voice, but she sucked every bit of feeling out of this song. So sad.

  • no me gusto mucho ese cover de la cancion pero que preciosa es nora jones

  • I happen to like this version of the song. By the way this isn't Norah Jones version of the song. She's a guest artist on a Charlie Hunter Quartet, Charlie Hunter being a jazz guitarist, album.

75% or more of music heard on the radio is a cover or written by someone other than the person singing it. Each artist will have their own interpretation of the song which other artist, Bryan Ferry included, appreciate.

You don't have to like it but don't whine about it. You discredit yourself.

  • arg my ears, my poor poor ears!

  • @LightweightProducer I know...it's awful..yeeeuck!

  • I guess her jazzy style just doesn't really suit the song... too bad. :(

  • I like Norah Jones, but this sounds like a lame karaoke version of the song.

  • Nora Jones is a super babe and is sooooo talented.

  • i love her. i love the fact that she isn't wearing a bra. i love parts of her definitely.

  • I like Norah Jones....But the original had so much more feeling.

  • Is it true that Prince (or the artist formerly known as Prince) did a cover of this song as well?

  • this is AWFUL!!!

  • awful..how dare she ruin such a great song..no feel and no emotion..dont waste time on this..go to the Roxy Music original

  • awful..how dare she ruin such a great song

  • This is as exciting and emtional and moving as hearing wallpaper yellow and fade in ugly sunlight.

  • As much as I love Norah (and think she is underrated)..................she didn't do this classic justice! I give her credit for trying something different, though.

  • shes singing the melody alright, but the backing tune is just monotone.

  • Yup - pretty shit.

  • I like this version because it is very relaxing and sexy.

  • i like this cover and the original

  • Remarkable what a change of style and singer can do, isn't it?

You can go from rock classic to elevator music in one small step...

  • Still a fagot song!

  • @UncleMiltonChing No it isn't! It is kind of a Buddhist song. We have what we have right now...

  • disgrace

  • its a different style, but i like it. You guys are complainning because you were expecting an exact copy of the original.

  • it's norah.it's a cover...jazz style.go and study the grandstaff or something music.

  • Awfull? I agree.

  • Trust me, everyone, I understand why this track - if on fire - none of you would piss on. For me, it is the distinct voices betwixt Norah and Ferry that make me respect this cover.

YES, there is much more *meat* to the song, but for myself... if anyone was to cover it in their own style, I'd prefer Norah than say... Ke$ha or the damn Black Eyed Peas for fooks sake.

  • Awful.

  • I see there are 57+ people with the musical sophistication of a rock. Who would of thought Archie Bunker was still alive and well? Apparently he's still out there calling people "Meat Head" because they think differently or have different tastes.

  • Nothing like the original from Roxy music

  • this is a good song. i don't know why people think a song gets ruined when someone covers it. even if you don't like it, it's not as if the original song has been erased from existence

  • Why Norah, why?

  • No thank you, Norah

  • No, no, not a good idea!

  • Some things should never be done.

I want to hear that wonderful back beat snare drum clocking this thing in.

    Oh well.

...there will be other songs, Norah.

  • Sorry Darl this is crap.

  • Terrible. She ruined this classic.

  • yep. totally wrong feel for this song. listen to the lyrics love. this isnt a cafe song

  • This is refreshing. Nice version of a haunting song, considering it was among her first. Love the sax.

  • Awful! Unashamedly raping of a classic. Its dreery and monotone, there is no feeling in this whatsoever. I actually quite like her music in general, but this version is pathetic!

  • you just murdered a perfectly good song .

  • I've heard several versions of this, and this one....is just terrible.....

  • this disgraced the original song

  • …because you told me. And so I am ‘hopefully learning, why the sea and the tide, has no way of turning.’

  • this was actually the first version i heard of this song... and then i just heard the original in a movie in the backround, and recognized it... it's wayyyy better

  • her voice is like butter

  • Ihan sama minkä biisin Norah coveroi, samaa huttua sitä tulee. Norah fans must like this, this dedicated for them.

Vesa-Matti Loiri tekee nykyään samaa matskua samalla otteella.

    Ihan Ivalosta.

  • Sucubus, she's drained all the life out of it. Its like a very pale photocopy of the original, with coffee spilt over it. Most bland cover of all time?

  • @star17city First off this is just a song she's featured in so it wasn't her idea and second unless your retarded you would know that she's a jazz artist and the songs she covers are played in the jazz style.

  • @star17city It's smokey

  • @star17city

Completely agree with you. She took away not just many beats per minute but also the sexyness of the song. 10000 Maniacs did a great cover, sounds sexier (since it is a woman the singer) but Norah made the song a complete lullaby.

  • @star17city She seems to have no feeling or understanding for or of the song. Her version gives it a whole new meaning: falling asleep during woopie! :)

  • ella me agrada,es exelente en lo suyo, pero esto es un horrible error.aburre, repleto de lugares comunes.tan previsible que irrita.una pena, porque me genero entusiasmo la eleccion del tema.

  • annoying - she shouldn't be doing this song

  • @juliekstroup agree

  • wtf do people mess up great tracks , she has awesome talent but ffs leave the 80's to the peeps who did it :)

  • roxy is the best, and this is one of the most enjoyable covers of any song ,in my opinion

  • who tells these people that they deserve studio manifestations of pure mediocrity. Blondie does a pretty good cover.

  • i like nora and love roxy. but !!! i think she could have done better with this song.

  • ZZzzzz wake me up when it ends...

  • My friend, i'm a fan of good soccer (not doesn't matter what team does, but I' confess my heart belongs to Barça), i'm a fan of Nora Jones' face and finally i'm a fan of Roxy Music.

  • Boring like as a Mourinho's soccer team

  • @bolo44 Are you a Milan's fan? However, great post!

  • I like her version...she did her own thing...it wouldn't make sense for her to copy

Roxy Music's version...so I guess she's not a piece of shit after all.

  • loving this shit ..i love jazz and this is great music :D

  • I don't know if I like it or not. I like some of it and then all of a sudden it's just wrong. Yikes! It still has the smoothness of Roxy Music about it. She certainly has made it her own.

  • too "jazzy" for my tastes...

  • I'm in love

  • i mean - look at her at 1:46 - if that doesn't put some salt on your french fries then you're not breathing my friend

  • my girlfriend knows that Nora Jones is the only woman i'd leave her for. ( her's is benecio del toro - for some reason - i guess i kind of get it -anyway ) I'd do it so quick she wouldn't even know I was gone - she'd still be talking to me from the living room - and i'd be showered, packed and scaling down the window in a nano second. Nora Jones - yummy yummy yummy yummy

  • I like it,it is different from ROXYS version,it is more laid back, she just did it NORAS WAY.

  • Nope,,,doesn't work for me.

  • What a low-life.Awful version. How dare this piece of shit insult Bryan Ferry.

  • Takes the life out of the song. Awful. She's like lounge band in Lost in Translation.

  • No dickhead, this version does not SUCK. It is just that IT IS DIFFERENT!

  • Nice try, like her and her songs, but this takes away the "Feel" of the original song...

  • candy for the eyes and ears

  • This is absolutely CRAP. please DONT think your any good at this, and NO TY for posting, this person covers more than Pollyfilla, get your OWN SONGS BIOTCH!

  • That's the way to kill a perfectly good song!

Absolutely horrible - the worst cover, ever.

I can't feel the emotions in this version. I'm afraid no one can top Mr. Ferry and Roxy Music. I could imagine this version being played at an overpriced restaurant.

But no offense to the video, it's good work. :)

  • Its not good is it.. doesn't do the original justice

  • I like this. A lot. And the Roxy Music original is one of my all time favorites.

  • Comment removed

  • Sorry for the lovers but she totally misses the point here.

The "deep" voice, original charm and the synth's.

  • nope sorry

  • insipid shit!

  • wow. take a perfect filet mignon, cover it with ketchup and eat it on the toilet. only the most perverse curiosity made me click this link and i made it about 5 seconds into her squeaky "sexy" whisper before i threw up.

  • The bill Murray version is gay I understand how a redneck can like it... Norah saved this song she added soul to it

  • Boobs.

  • Several people have compared this to elevator music. That's a bit harsh--and not really true--but I agree with the spirit in which the complaint was made. Hey, there is no doubting NJ's talent: she has a golden voice and her piano chops are nice, too. But all that talent also reults in Norah trying too hard. Bryan Ferry's somber, existential lament of a song has been stripped of all emotion. In its place, NJ and her crew have provided a largely intellectual exercise.

  • Love this song, even when Bill Murray was murdering it, but this is soooo dull... NJ is cute to the max but the bland, the bland!!!! Nora, stop. Just stop. Try Spandau Ballet or something.

  • Norah Jones: she's pretty and entertaining. What else is there? Beautiful women need love too.

  • LAME LAME!!! Slaughtered!!!!

  • Aw man... she kilt it... :(

  • Bill Murray actually sang it sexier, without saxophone!!!

  • I agree very sexyermmmzzzzzzz...zzzzzzz.zzzzz My weiner will wake up soon i hope!!!

  • I agree... zzzz...zzz ... my weiner will wake up tomorrow with a new song.... zzzz

  • Unacceptable version... It should be forbidden to massacre master pieces...

    Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp !

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, this was torture !

  • I don't like this. I thought she could make at great version of this song, but this is so boring.

  • What's next Nora? Meggadeath?

  • SOZ JUST NOT FEELIN IT NORA.....

  • When I listen to this, I like it. But when I watch the pictures at the same time, I'm mesmerized. Don't know why... Guess I just relate to Nora and her voice. :-)

  • Nora's cover of this song is O.K....But it doesn't send shivers down my spine like the original...

  • Not bad, but it still lacks the 80's touch of the original.

  • I don't care for Norah's version of this at all.

  • @wilsondylanmccartney But I do. So it's just not for you then.

  • can't barely hear it

  • zzzzzzz......

  • achei que ficou meio bossa nova :P
