  • I aint never cut myself on purpise. My way of dealing with shit is I go out to the garage & work on my 62 Chevy Truck. Shes helped me get my mind off so many things that i cant even count that high. Shes almost done now all i gotta do is change out the gears in the rear, wire everything up, a little body work then ill be all set. It really helps cuz all my anger/sad times for the past 5 years has gone to that truck and now im seein a finished product. makes me feel acomplished and happy inside

  • Ok, obviously you never done drugs if you think they are a 'coping mechanism'. I used 2 self harm but stopped. Plainly put, now i'm happy and use drugs all the time, for fun. BTW you're hot.

    Crying helps, too. It just exhausts you of your energy and you can't feel any more pain.

  • ya, me too. it's like, a never-ending addiction. i've tried everything......

  • instead of do things that other people can't see like that ice thing to make it so they don't know your pain,how bow't this pray God will never give you something that you can't handle. if you have a friend that cuts then do like me and my friend do. we go to them each day and if they have any new cuts they have to write a sentence about good things about themselves.

  • first step is to not blame yourself for things you cant controll think about the bad things that someone might told you about your self make a list of your negatives that you think on one side of the paper and make positive I STATMENTS ON THE OTHER SIDE FOR EXAMPLE MY FATHER WOULD TELL ME YOU CANT SO I WROTE IT DOWN AND ON THE OTHER SIDE I WROTE I CAN DO ANYTHING

  • I used to cut. But I haven't in a while. I also used to punch a wall, not a soft wall in the house, but hard wood, or brick to feel pain. I broke my hand a couple of times. I think I haven't done this in a while because I talk more now, and am open to my parents. I am also lucky to have very supportive family.

  • Thank you for posting this. Encouraging others to stop doing this is the BEST thing you can do with the experience, it will help you cope also. You want more incentive to stop? wait till your kids DON'T ask about your scars...and you find out they started cutting themselves because YOU did it. Thank you for encouraging others to stop, finding safe coping methods really is important.

  • I punch a punching bag, works really well. sometimes I'll punch a wall or something, and Ive really hurt my hand a few times. I wonder if that would be considered self harm. Anyway any sought of exersize is a realloy positive and effective way to deal with anger, it releases natural dopamine (happy hormone) into your system too, and releases your negative energy.

  • Thats such a good point there are so many positive ways to overcome these soughts of problems, the sad thing is, alot of people i think dont want to overcome them. They enjoy the image of it, on some level, i think. Great vid

  • When i'm really angry i punch the wall, usually helps me vent the anger, i think thats pretty normal way to deal with it, i wouldn't dream of cutting myself. but i only get that angry maybe a couple times a month. most of the time i swear my head off for a few minutes and that really helps or use a stress toy.

  • Actually I did this years back when I was about your age. What it does is mask the temptation of doing it, but as soon as the caffeine wears off you might start to do the self injury again. When you wake up, start by drinking black coffee, then at noon, and stop just before you go to sleep otherwise you'll be up all day.

    It works for some as it gets your mind energized to think and do other things.
