Actually the ads they played at the start of the video were actually part of the editing by CBS.
Youtube places "overlay" and "beside the video" ads on "youtube partner" channels.
Just because a video is on the front page does not mean an ad gets put on it .. they are not put on videos posted by people who are not partners.
