Now a days most native peoples are given a choice to convert or not and becoming a christian wouldn't hinder them from participating in their non-religious rites and traditions. And I don't see why it would stop them from carrying on their traditions...

It will be wrong to assume that meetei people of Manipur eat dogs even though younger generation would try anything. Dog is considered a friend of human being and even upon death ceremonies were perform for dogs.

Pigs are more intelligent than dogs so why eat them? A dog is only a friend if it is tamed otherwise it can be a vicious animal. Cows for the traditional farmers of the world are more valiable alive than any pig or dog and hence thier sacred nature to Hindus including most Meities.
