I understand the need for the idea behind the concert--Money for homeless LGBT people due to adversarial family relations, assuming that their homelessness is due to adversarial familial relations due to their sexuality/ opportunity or ability issues due to sexual orientation. Here's what I don't understand. Gays, especially those in NYC, are some of the most privileged and affluent members of society. Why the need for a charity concert to help those whose hardship you identify most with?

It seems to me that such a specific charity's existence is due to the fact that many organizations which assist the homeless are Christian organizations. And many christian organizations refuse to provide for homosexuals. The Catholic Church in Washington DC, for example, promised to stop providing ALL social services if legislation was passed giving homosexuals equal rights.

This is a good cause and I applaud you for being a part. As someone who has helped gay youth through many hard times people dont understand that they take hate from all sides. When they are homeless its because of parents or hate generally. This is cool that theres a place for them to feel safe and have a warm place during the winter months. Guys as young as 13 are sometimes on the street.  This will help curve that number.
