  • Fantastic man. Absolutely love him. Thanks for the upload. x

  • Gabe Newall?! ahaa

  • The thing with Merton is that he is genuine funny, not "stand-up" funny :))

  • The think with merton is that he is genuine funny, not "stand-up" funny :))

  • Merton is great but I feel he should of done more. He is no doubt one of the greatest comics but, there's nothing we can really put his name to historically. Gervais has The Office and Extras, Cleese has Monty Python and Fawlty Towers etc.

His sketch shows were great and he's brilliant on Have I Got News For You, I just wish he had created something legendary.

  • @WelshDegenerate I agree with you. It's like when Peter Cook died and everyone talked about unfulfilled potential, wasted talent, etc.

Paul has done brilliant things. Just a Minute, Whose Line, Have I Got News For You all constitute some of the best things Britain has done in comedy (and that's saying A LOT), but I can't help feel that people won't remember Merton for the genius that he is =(

I love him though! Funniest person since Cook himself.

  • Love your dancing, Paul!

  • Saw Keaton when he was promoting one of his last films the Railrodder which was in part a National Film Board of Canada film. He was fantastic in that. He and Chaplin are two comedic greats. Love their films

  • I am INFATUATED....

  • I like Paul Merton.

  • I got shown the Keatons film the General when I was about 12 by my dad. First and almost only silent film i've ever seen and had me crying with laughter

  • I don't know how make links to other vids, but if anyone's interested in his mental illness, check out these vids...

  • What a legend.

  • Oh god, Parkinson has to present HIGNFY

  • god love ya paul

  • Slowing down that intro music sounds very awkward!

  • One of the funniest guys on the planet!

  • thanks i try

  • Paul merton what a legend!

  • I adore Paul Merton. The kind of bloke you would like to have a drink and a chat with in a pub. He always appears as a nice person. I would glady marry him!

  • I agree... and I'm 15!

  • that hignfy pm is more of a depiction of a persona than a representation of who he really is.

  • Very true. Well said!

  • mmm...so would I...and he's a cracker for someone who's going to be 51 tommorow.

  • me too, and I'm a man

  • Paul Merton - what a lovely person. A true gentleman.

  • i really love the way in which he dresses!

  • i love the way in which you talk

  • innit marvellous

  • Considering he's a manic depressant and the shit he's been through, he never seems to show it, you would never suspect!

  • I don't think he's bipolar, He had a nervous breakdown just under 2 decades ago, I think, but that doesn't mean he's a manic depressive.

  • Comment removed

  • He's always very quick to say it wasn't a breakdown whenever it is brought up in interviews. He's always described it as his 'manic episode'. In his live tour, "And this is me", he says that when he was in the Maudsley hospital, he was diagnosed with paranoid manic-depression.

  • i think you are confusing him with Stephen Fry.

  • yeah, it's Stephen Fry who is bipolar. but i had NO idea paul merton is a manic depressive! how shocking! does anyone know the story?

  • and his missus died of cancer!

  • Gee, very sensitively put...

  • He Isnt A Manic Depressive , He Had A Breakdown Because Of Physcological Reasons And Checked Himself Into A Hospital , And He Has Always Said That He Was Never Depressed He just Knew Somthing Was Wrong

  • Wow, learn how to use your capital letters properly!

  • It take more effort take put a cap' at the start of each word: and it's awful, AWFUL English.

  • you know in the nineties when they had martin clunes and neil morrissey on the msae team that wer coz he wer havin time off coz he wer depressed

  • no, it was because he thought the show was not very good, and took a year off. then when he came back, he said it gets better every time

  • oryte lol i juz heard bout that lol i get it now hehe :P cheers

  • Hammondlover - are you unable to communicate effectively? What are you trying to say?
