I haven't played SWG for over a year now.. and yeah, the early years were really cool... but dang. The latter years of the game weren't that bad either.... just different.
I played this game since nearly the beginning. I started the first week it came out...pre-mount. yeah. Before there was hardly any transportation. Then the mounts came. Then the vehicles came. Then the player cities came. What the hell happened to this game? It really use to be the best...or had the most to offer. Really...when I compare the old swg to any other mmo it offered wayyyyyyy more.
great game until it was ruined by the combat upgrade in 2004 and another upgrade in 2005...it was further ruined with the release of the trial of obi wan....SWG last breathe was when SOE tried one last time to attract more gamers with yet ANOTHER upgrade yet failed...i think we all learned our lessons to be careful of making the patches and "upgrades" because it may lead the game into doom...just like WoW right now...the current expansion is sucking so much....

Your just screaming for attention. Pre-CU was buggy yes, but gave you the choice of fully customizing your character. The new stuff is like your everyday MMO. UI looks like shit, combat is shit(mostly based off pixeled effects)

A lot of builds were just crap, while a few were ideal, which lead to just a few variables for pvp. The game was just always really buggy, I dont like SOE, but i like star wars.

Anyone who says that pre-cu wasn't balanced lacks a basic understanding of the game system that they played. It actually had trade offs.
Get pistol defenses, do less damage. Get combat medic, do tons of damage and die instantly. That's called balanced. The ability to counter EVERYTHING in the game, is balance.
The game was very balanced for those who knew what they were doing. Your ability to succeed was based entirely around you. Best (pre-cu) game ever, period.
Don't get me wrong. I loved the Pre-CU, but to say it was completely balanced is absurd. I played a pistoleer/master combat medic/doctor.
There were clearly some classes that were overpowered, such as the creature handler. One creature handler could come in with three rancors and just slaughter a group of non CH.
I was imperial and my ATST could one-shot kill just about any player. I enjoyed it, but i clearly was unfair for rebel players
The game was greatest in pre-cu, and as long as you knew what you were doing and what build to setup your character, then you could easily make a great character.
The game is horrible now, 36 professions down to 9, and the CU introduced linear leveling...

I tried to be the positive guild leader and tell everyone that we just needed to get used to it but what they did was unbearable - people we had seen every day for years stopped playing or switching games. Thankfully our guild still lives on in WoW, the one game SOE attempted to copy too much from and implement it into a game that did not need it.

Also the wait time for shuttles OMG... It would take sometimes 20 to 30 mins from one planet to others! JTL was awsome...everything after was a F**KUP by SONY!
