Very nice! I would love to do a similar trip. Is there a good shoulder on Hw 1 most of the way? Is that actually a bike lane on one section of Highway 1 that you rode on? Thanks!
I'm planning to do this trip. How often do you stop for breaks, lunch, or sightseeing? Are there any must stops along the way that you would recommend?
@ASABIO623 Just worth it for the adventure. Beautiful sights are reasonably frequent. Nothing really stood out. Just the being against the elements and wearing yourself into the ground every day. Very satisfying. It's the only bicycle tour I've ever done. I had a guy I met in Peru come and stay with me in New Zealand, and he cycled all the way from Auckland to Queenstown and back in 6 weeks. He had been on the world cycling stage as a youth though. I rushed my cycle tour. Use campgrounds
@datprius Took 6 days, slept in a golfcourse utility yard on the first night near Monterey, after that I met a lad with a plan and we stayed in camping grounds cheap. Averaged 20k/hr and did 800km, so 40 hours in the saddle it seems.
