  • what wazz that.....?????

  • full-screen please !!!!

  • lol at the craptacularness and heat production leading to house fire killing family. Go on ebay and get the cheap black projector it is awesome!

  • but does it blend?

  • i boght a 99 dollar 720HD 300 inch wide screen projector so why make one.

  • I watched Evan Almighty Yesterday lol

  • genius

  • The only problem i got left is

getting an lcd... A CHEAP ONE!

I thought about buying a small

ipod nano 3rd gen, with a HD

dock thingy.. But i don't think

    that's cheap at all.....

  • @Ruttie2 craigslist dude. I've gotten 4 different lcd screens for about $15 each from there. I broke 3 before I made a projector successfully, but that's just cause I'm an idiot ;D

  • @ryan7585 Well, i can now buy big ass 1080p 3d projectors for less than 180 dollars. So i don't care about

    lcd's anymore..

  • @Ruttie2 damn. hookk me upppp

  • @ryan7585 ?

  • @Ruttie2 I was just asking if you could help ME get that price. Is it just a local or exclusive deal? if so I'd pay you an extra 20 plus shipping if you could send me one. that's phenominal for a decent projector, at least in Florida.

If you want to have a private convo about it, im at my username @ gmail

  • @ryan7585 Errr... Actually, i sell them to people... for 450 USD...

  • this is great for youporn lol

  • Old SKool......xD

  • oops nm

  • just a thought but reducing light pollution from the main unit and any external light sources will help with the image. just put a cardboard box style unit over the top allowing a hole for light to reach the mirror/lense as light from the overhead projector itself is probably causing murky washed out picture. a small amount of light washes out a faint light. you will want to monitor for heat dammage if you do this and allow fans, etc. when you verify improvement of picture.

  • just a thought :p. nice job.

  • you will want to make your room as light tight as possible as well (no light comming in from windows, alarm clock led's etc.).

  • light bleedout from the projector unit base itself is probably hampering with the projected image, that will also help focus the light from the unit into the projector lense/mirror.

  • you can probably improve the image quite a bit by using a cardboard box and cutting a hole in it where the projector lense/mirror is. light from the projector unit itself is probably washing out the projected image. even a small amount of light will wash out a faint light.you will want to make sure you check for heat and ventalation if you do something like that, and build fan and ventalation into it.

  • wow. completely lame. looks like a bunch of aging geeks trying to recapture the 1970s. fuck projectors. somebody gets in the way and the screen image is cut off with their silhouette. are you people fucking retarded. make a REAL technology and then i'll call that "innovative". fuck you, geriatric cunts.

  • @gregjockca1001 There's nothing in this or its description which would indicate they are trying to be 'innovative' i think its just a price reduction

  • Very cool can you buy those screens with A/V inputs withound moding a laptop screen

  • this is cool if you can make one for under $100, but $200 is a lot of money to spend for something that looks this bad. digital projectors have come down considerably in price and look amazing these days.

  • Look at the date dude.

And read the video desc. Under $200 WITH the laptop.

  • @breadbutt I built mine for araound $35.

  • Epic win =)

  • @TheSuperDanMan hell yeah xD

  • i don't know if this would work, but i'd like to see what would happen if you used a 750w ETC Source 4 as the back light. You'd probably have to use a glass panel to help diffuse the heat.

  • i have a projector that i bought at a pawn shop for 200....

  • i can make one under 200 dollars >.> like $140 and defiantly will be better and longer life and brighter including lifespan and including parts are cheap to replace and and easy to replace

  • How much are bulbs?

  • They can range to 15 - 30 dollars can

  • Store bought projectors range from 500-2000 hours of bulb life and cost $400-$1000 to replace.

These bulbs last 200-500 hours and cost $7.

  • daaammmn! Cheap, very cheap! :D

  • 400-1000$ for repair, not 7$

only old retro school projectors take the 7$ ones I think

  • The overhead projector I'm using takes two 400w bulbs (one as a hot-swap spare) and they run about $7 online.

  • what overhead are u using please tell i have a 3m 1830 projector and its to dim

  • 3M 9100.

  • overhead projector bulbs often retail for closer to $30. and projector bulbs are more like $250-500

but the more important factor here is that real projectors with the expensive bulbs, are much, MUCH brighter than overhead projectors, which allows for better throw and projection area.

  • my projectors bulb cost like 15 bucks

  • They actually aren't that much brighter. In a dark room, you could throw this thing 20 or 30ft away and still get a good picture. I don't even use this anymore though, I have a LCD TV that is easier and quieter to use.

  • @mootsfox I think the main problem with an overhead projector is the resolution.... a real projector can get as good of a resolution as the digital copy of what your watching allows it, but an overhead projector will only have as good as a resolution as your small tv anyways, and the bigger you make it, the more blurry it becomes.

  • do it then :P

  • Hi, I'm making the same type of DIY projector with an Overhead Projector but I can't Find a over head projector that has more than a 11" x 11" display and any LCD's i find are bigger, advice??

  • you mask off the edges of the monitor screen with tape and then use a program called powerstrip to resize your desktop to the new screen size

  • could you tell me how to do that?

  • ive done this myself, works great!

  • Very good, buddy. Congrats.

  • That.........is one HELL of an idea! I wish I'd thought of it. Now I just have figure out where to get an old projector and what a TFT LCD screen is and get'em. My torpedo projector's okay, but your idea is MUCH better!

  • awesome dude, I admire people who are inventive. Im sure you could've got a cheap lcd projector but nothing beats the feeling of doing something with your own hands. that's what makes life worth living and I respect you for that man, good work

  • @jorgegaribay well said i like your attitude!

  • 40 year old virgin hahah

  • does it matter if i got an old overhead projector?

  • no it doesnt.. all that matters is the light behind the screen and the magnification lense and the mirror is there to flip the image the right way.

  • hmmm couldn't handle not havin the corners of the image or the blurry edges, use a smaller LCD

  • hey, great job..ive been plannin on startin to make one of these. When it goes through the lens, does the image look like a bubble is over it? Because thats the only thing holding me back

  • wtf? thats awesome wanna watch youtube in math class on the overhead? what kinds of devices can you hook to this rig can you hook a ps2 to it and play games

  • well i cant exactly afford those new systems right now due to the cost of gas and everything, the games are 60 bucks a pop

  • yh but most people anit got the money like some people so shut ya mouth you little rich dick

  • Your Grammar is so horrible i could not understand your comment, Maybe if you would learn how to write correctly you could get a better job.

I never claimed to be Rich you assumed that was when i am not, I just know how to invest and save money.

Also by the way i am a High School plus a College a drop out and i do not make much money but i make the best with what i have.

  • You really shouldn't be complaining about other people's grammar, your own suck!

  • Take your own advice.

  • Shut up... You make mistakes too!

    Example: "Your Grammar"

The "g" in "grammar" shouldn't be capitalized, since it's a common noun, not a name. Same goes with "College", "Rich" and "Maybe", although that's not a noun.

  • I will say it again take your own advice.

  • Correction: I will say it again, take your own advise.

    -OR-

I will say it again; take your own advise.

    --------------

I think you should consider shutting up, and stop complaining about other people, when you're not in any way better than them. In fact, you're a lot worse.

  • I will say it again, take your own advise.

  • Good thing you corrected the error, but still, I'm not the one who should be taking my advise, you are.

  • You Sound Like My English Teacher. NERD

  • Lol, I take that as a compliment, as I'm thirteen and from Norway^^

  • It's advice in this case not advise. Don't start teaching grammar when you can't use it correctly.

  • So what? I make ONE little mistake, and that's bad compared to all of his?! Besides, as mentioned before, I'm thirteen and Norwegian; I can't be blamed for not typing perfect.

  • I'm not blaming you. Don't get all defensive and don't use your age and nationality as an excuse. Although thumbs up to that.

  • Oh, sorry... I was just really tired and had had bad day, that's all :)

  • wow, that is awesome!

  • hi is the backlight for the lcd panel on?

I am thinking about making one,i have the overhead projector

    and an old ibook

  • iBook FTW

  • No... imagine the overhead acting as the backlight.

LCD panels are see through, this is just taking advantage of this.

You can use a laptop screen, but it's harder and bulkier.

  • can the screen size be adjusted? can a portable fan (like the big one u have) be used to cool the unit instead of a small pc fan?

  • Yes, and yes.

  • please tell me how you made that :S

  • 40 year old virgin!!! lol

  • how do you make one it looks cool.

  • what is this

  • A LCD projector lol

  • any one know if LED lights can be used for light source?

  • Not for this type of project. You can use LEDs for backlights though. The most well known example is the screen in the Macbook Air.

  • you can use leds but you want something light luxon leds try google

  • i made one to

  • Looks good!
