  • how did judy parfitt not win an oscar for this

  • Por qué Judy Parfitt no fue nominada al Oscar por este papel? Excelente actriz Judy, Excelente actuación por Dios!!!!!!

  • @MrBocha1973 ninguna de las tres fue nominada...

  • Watching Vera go to pieces about how things would never get better always makes me cry, usually once Dolores brings her that china pig she wants so much.

  • Delores /.Kathy bates is that true Maine woman, working hard, fingers, bleeding for her family, but hurt her child and she'll "put you in the "bone yard!" I was shocked that originally from Tn! To go from a very southern accent straight to MAINE!!

  • I GREW UP IN MAINE!! The accent in land is hard enough to do, but people on the islands,She DID HER HOME WORK! She would be more believable as a local in my home town than me! Maine accent is not a Boston, Irish,or New York ...it's very hard to speak 1 sentence if you've not lived there...

  • Well, you can bet that if Kathy Bates had been Wendy Torrance in The Shining, she'd have been the one to "bash his brains in", not Jack Nicholson....

  • The woman who plays Vera is pretty amazing in this movie too.

  • this is one of the better movies from stephen king's books. the other is misery. cathy bates is so perfect in both roles, so glad she got the oscar for both!

  • @jeepgayguy Sadly, Kathy Bates did not win the Oscar for Dolores Claiborne. She was not even nominated for an Oscar for this role which is a damn shame. :-(

  • does anyone know what the china pig melody is?

  • @Dejection55 "Happy Days Are Here Again"

  • @tauntonlake are you sure?

  • @Dejection55 yeah, very :D It's an old song, I know it .. and Wikipedia says, it appears in this movie as well ..

  • @tauntonlake no you're right. i heard a version with judy garland and Barbara striesand and it didnt sound quite like it but the instrumental which sounds just like it.

  • @Dejection55 Dennis Sobin does a really nice guitar version on Youtube.

Search Dennis Sobin plays HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN .. ..Streisand/Garland's version, doesn't really do it for me :D

  • I love the accent she's having.

  • actually she was in 3 she had a small role in the stand as ray flowers the radio personality

  • Acting at it's best!

  • "Vera, are you gonna sit here and marinate in it? Come on!" lol

  • I LOVE KATHY BATES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHE IS SUCH AN AMAZING ACTRESS. I LOVE HOW VER IS SMILING AT 1:43 LIKE SHE ENJOYS MAKING DOLORES CARRY HER

  • Kathy Bates is just perfect playing dolores...one man's opinion..=)

  • Parfitt should have got a best supporting actress Oscar for this role.

  • Judy Parfitt made an impressive perfomance. It wan not easy to make this scene.

  • Getting old, smelly, sick, and dependent on ppl to wipe your ass sucks. I should know, I worked in a nursing home for 15 years and saw hundreds of ppl who prayed to die daily.

  • adoro esta pelicula la fortaleza de dolores yo haria lo mismo por defeder a un hijo, pero no creo tener la paciencia de ella para aguantar un trabajo asi aunque lo pensaria para salir de mi vida si fuera como la de ella.

  • ok ive never seen this movie..all ive seen is this clip. i wanna watch it tho but..idk i was tearing up in this scene its sad as hell

  • WOW. Just WOW.

    The PERFORMANCES !!!

What a gem of a movie.

Judy Judy Judy - absolute genius

    Kathy...role of a lifetime. Bravo.

  • i actually started reading the book this week and i have to say its good. i love dolores!

  • Truly great performances.

  • I agree with the below comments about Vera. My heart breaks for her in this scene! The book was almost the same in describing her suicide, but a little different.( I won't ruin it for anyone who hasn't read it, yet)! Judy Parfitt is FABULOUS in this, as she seems to be great in everything else shes' done! Kathy Bates is also INCREDIBLE. These two need to do more work together!! Great performances, indeed!!!!!!

  • Dying Vera reminds me of a woman I sometimes work with named Verena. They're EXACTLY alike, except Verena isn't incapacitated.

  • beyong = beyond. Typo.

  • 2 super talented actresses Judy Parfitt & Kathy Bates.i love this movie since it came out.also love Judy's role in Ever After as the queen.Kathy did amazing in Misery and the very touchy 'A Home Of Our Own'.

  • This part is so powerful!

I love this movie so much!

The unlikely friendship between these two women is amazing and so sweet!

Truly wonderful performances in this movie, especially here!

And Kathy Bates is the best actress on the planet. Period. The End. No Debate. :)

  • Agreed Ruby. A WONDERFUL chemistry and an unlikely, but then again VERY likely pairing, as characters. Both are great actresses. Have you read the book?

  • Yes, I did read the book! I liked it, but though it's very rare, I liked the movie so much better! I think their friendship is much more defined in the movie & Dolores's relationship with her daughter is also more personal and powerful.

Plus, I feel like in the movie, Dolores is not guilty for Joe's death. In the book...well, she totally is. She physically killed him and then Stephen King pulls his old trick and has Joe crawl up the well and grab her leg...Movie is definitely my favorite! :)

  • The book is scarier!!! He calls out and calls out. What I don't like about the film is that Selena solves the whole thing, instead of Dolores. Plus, there are two other kids in the book...we don't know their stories at all. I love both versions, in different ways...like steak and lobster.

  • Ha! I definitely agree! The book was freakier! Yeah, I didn't like that there were two other kids who we didn't know anything about. But, the end was cool cuz Dolores got about 20 times the amount of money (than she did in th emovie) and they said she gave it all away.

I definitely respect both versions for telling a very powerful story :)

  • I didn't even think about the money amount, but now that you mention it, that's true! They are both great works of art, and both are worth experiencing. Sometimes, the book is better than the film, or vice versa...in the case of Stephen King...I think that sometimes the filmmakers OUTDO themselves in making something that matches, or surpasses, the original. And King seems fine with it. And, really, you should always experience both versions. They compliment one another.

  • What did you think of the book? :)

Oh, and I did want to say that I also adore Judy's performance! She is a fabulous actress! This was such a challenging role&for a lot of the movie, the audience is supposed to really dislike her, but she makes Vera seem so real&relatable. In this scene, my heart just breaks for her. This is such a powerful movie and she and Kathy acting together was magical!

Though I'm a very indecisive person, I'd have to say this is probably my favorite movie of all time!

  • I totally agree. And she got her accent SPOT ON! NOT easy to do... She allowed herself to "be ugly." For me, this movie really cuts to the quick. My grandma was a lot like Vera, and I spent her last six months with her. It was challenging, but we got through it together. I thought of this film a lot as I got through it. It's just so important...all of the messages in here. Stephen King is a real humanist. How can we care more about the suffering of our pets than the suffering of our family?

  • Judy Parfitt . . . holy WOW. What a performance. Kathy and Judy together: priceless

  • I'll bet her breath smells lovely.

  • Our world is so screwed. If your DOG is in too much pain to go on living, it's just FINE to put him to sleep. HUMANS on the other hand, have to suffer and PAY AND PAY through the nose to hospitals and whatnot. How is that fair? If you WANT to die, you should be able to do so, legally, with dignity, and with no pain and fear.

  • THANK YOU! A thousand times.... THANK YOU

  • My pleasure! :)

  • AT LAST someone who agrees with me.

  • We need to start a movement, I guess. I really think most sane people agree with this.

  • Really a great film that never gets old

  • been sensational playing Dolores Jane Umbridge and I wish to god that Kathy had auditioned for the part because seeing her portray a nasty evil sickly sweet unpleasant person would of been a dream come true for me

  • of playing nasty characters every now and then and her Oscar winning performance in Misery as the monstrous psychopath Annie Wilkes who enjoys torturing and tormenting poor old James Caan is a fine example of someone who could play the character of Dolores to perfection I didn't think much of Imelda Staunton's performance nothing really spectacular to say the very least and she honestly didn't scare me at all or make the character out to be sickly sweet or evil where as Kathy would of simply

  • Kathy Bates is a phenomenal actress and arguably one of my all time favorites I love seeing what ever movie she has starred In whether Its Misery, Dolores Claiborne, Primary Colors, Titanic, or even Fried Green Tomatoes Kathy always put in so much commitment and effort that I think she really does deserve to be labeled a legend in my honest opinion, I've always reckoned that Kathy Bates might of been a magnificent Dolores Jane Umbridge In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix she's capable

  • Judy Parfitt is one of the unsung heroes of this movie in terms of acting. Kathy Bates is great as always... but Judy Parfitt is astonishing. They both should have been nominated.

  • Essentially, Vera is in the process of killing herself, but when she is unsucessful, she asks Dolores

  • My Aunt acted this way exactly before she passed,

this is one of the best movies.

  • About two weeks before she died, my grandma begged me to kill her if she was in a lot of pain and totally out of it....especially if she could not breathe. I told her I couldn't do it. And I couldn't have. I think it's crappy that people who are sick and dying have to hold on and suffer while hospitals rake it in. If someone is clearly beyong saving and they WANT to go with dignity, WHY can't they? Why are pets giving a privelege we are not given? I'll tell you why. Religion and greed.

  • I prefer much better the book, but this movie kicked ass in my opinion.. if you like disturbing sad dramas. this movie is perfect..

  • How many movies has Kathy Bates been in that are based on a Steven King book?

  • Two, this movie and Misery.

  • Misery Rocks! @Dufrense1978

  • ok have you actually read the book? its nothing compared to the movie! seriously a lot more in depth!

  • "I want my China pig!!" LMFAO!!!!

  • Kathy Bates....a phemom of an actress...in everything she does!

  • i have loved this film since I saw it in the theatre. my aunt died this week and when I went in to see her for the last she looked identical to vera in this scene.

  • what do you mean by "real story" this is the movie isn't it?

  • Yeah, it's the movie, but watch it entirely and you'll know why the person who posted this titled his video "the real story".

  • Hey, I just noticed that you don't even have to watch the movie to know why he called this "the real story"; it's on the video description.

  • *big gasp* OH MY GOD!!

  • gawd its been forever since iv'e seen this... i used to love it....

i was like 7 yrs old.. hahahhaha

  • Very POWERFUL and EMOTIONAL scene...gets me EVERYTIME.

  • If it were Annie Wilkes from Misery that fanny pan would have gone right up her ass. HARD!!!

  • lmao

  • According to IMDB Kathy Bates had been so impressed by Judy Partiff's audition on the part of Vera that she asked the director:"Who was that?" and I think that's when Judy got the part. She is really great. And they are perfect together.

  • agreed

  • According to the director, she said; "Who the f#ck was that!!?"

  • Love this movie

  • This so sad! What a powerful movie! Brilliantly acted by both actresses!

  • today was my first day watching the whole movie, i always used 2 watch like 5 minutes of it then turn but not today...im glad i watched the whole thing

  • could u post the moment when Vera advises Dolores something about being a bitch is woman´s kind of only solution, or something like that please. I love this movie.

  • You can watch the scene. I've already uploaded the part.

    Thanks for watching.

  • I love this movie. Don't know why people keep comparing it to "Misery," but well.

  • Could you upload the scene where Vera and Dolores are in the room and Dolores is crying and tells Vera that Joe took her money and then Vera asks her if Joe's "effed" Selena and then Vera gives the big speach about how an accident can be an unhappy womans bestfriend.

  • I've uploaded the scene...I hope thats what u loking for.

    Thanks watching

  • i like that scene too

  • Katy bates is a great actres but after Misery she played a lot of scenes that is very likeable from Misery(always a crazy woman with a conversation with the same way of acting in Misery)..

  • Great movie great book great one liners also :)

  • I LOVE THIS BOOk!

  • Thank you for posting dolores, it's great !!

  • You're welcome.....thnkx for watching.
