I don't understand...why is he ripping open the gums on all 4 teeth, I thought only one of them had receded to a point that needed work. Can someone throw some light on this please? I am expecting some work to be done on one tooth, and this video has just scared the hell out of me.
@gshankaran He's done that so that a larger piece of Alloderm can be placed and retained, if you work on just one tooth it's much much harder to suture things in place. Also the "blend" would be better, that is the "new" gum shape will blend in better ... IMHO
@rumbug I have a question on that - so if just one tooth has recession because of trauma, let's say not due to gingivitis or anything, does it mean that the neighboring teeth that have natural and healthy gums also need to be worked upon? And what about the tissue that is being placed - does the natural tissue grow over it, and eventually assimilate it into gums, or does it feel like there is some soft tissue, but no sensation whatsoever? Thanks,
@gshankaran yes the gum on either side will also have to be worked on, as you can't graft new gum onto "nothing", the gum on either side will accept the graft and allow it to integrate
