When I was in elementary school I used a fluorescent light as a signal injector to calibrate those old am transistor radios....a science project that i was working on.... which was a long time ago....
Just a note to my fellow experimenters: I bought my "Lawn/Garden Glowingt Bar, which are plamsa light sticks at "The Source" by Circuit City (here in Canada) for a clearance price of $2.96 plus tax....The original price was $39.95, what a great deal. I bought four for future experiments....Check it out for yourself, they might be some still around...
Thanks for posting this, and keep it coming. So, maybe your multi-rod device with air core for neon? Will copper catch stray neon charge/capacitance also?
So all you need is a florescent light bar and some led lights and thats it???

What determines the distance before a current is induced for the leds?

its inverse square law. No matter how far out you go, you get current but it is neglegible beyond a point.

Correction...The frequency of the plasma light stick is 40Khz...not as I noted in the last part of the video, sorry about the discrepancy.
