These protests are never fruitful, no direction, just copy copy. just bc americans are occupyig their streets and Arabs are overthrowing their dictators does not mean we should do the same. alot of these guys are just on the streets bc they think its a fad...Get the facts, stop being used, use your own slogans, get your own agenda, thenyou wod be taken seriously.
Africans everywhere are mobilizing and speaking out against looting, corruption, and tyranny by their dictators. Africans will soon be free to strive and to prosper in peace. Go Maurice Carney of Friends of the Congo! That is the way forward: Africans standing in solidarity with each other.
There shouldn't have been subsidy in the first place,if not 4 some very corrupt people who made such the refineries are not working so they can import fuel @ the international price, trust me the government knows what to do,Nigerians are very smart, they just are not ready to do it.
@fxmoney,yes the guy in yobe state doesn't have a car,but he is able to pay a lower transport when he needs to move around thereby benefitting indirectly,he is able to get cheaper food but now he will have to pay more for the same quantity of good due to inflation.
(final) If we continue with this level of corruption and we agree to pay not even #140/litre but #400/litre for PMS with this HIGH WIRED CORRUPTION, Nigeria will cease to be in AFRICA but rather be in TROUBLE! I rest my case
(cont) if not they would have called them to order instead of afflicting more hardship on we the poor. I saw the 2011/2012 budget and I almost fainted. #1 billion would pay #50000/month for 18980workers! If someone feed with #50000/day the person will spend #1 billion over 52years! Can you now see that, it not only that our OFFICIALS ARE CORRUPT but they have made CORRUPTION OFFICIAL?
(cont) This man doesn’t keep money in the bank because he fears that banks might start to suspect him as he was just an ordinary civil servant that is lucky to be a LG treasurer. This are the same set of people that will handle the so call money generated from our purses. Our Government first need to fight corruption among them. Those people involved with oil importation are their people. I believe they have their own share of the money being pay for the so called SUBSIDY.
I good example is the National ID card policy where that wicked Minister for internal affairs and his people misappropriated all the money voted into it. I used to have a neighbour who was a treasurer in a LG in Lagos state he said, the time he loves most is when they receive their monthly allocation, he confessed that they normally share all the allocation except that of worker salaries. Can you imagine that?
(cont) This PTF was a success bcosd person heading it then in person of Gen. Buhari was a man of Good integrity, sentiment apart this man has come out opening to say he has never stolen a kobo from National purse and no one challenged him except slander mongers who do not have any evidence against him. All other policies where failure and at the end rolls back money into our leaders/their caucuses purses especially those POLICIES introduced during this DemonCrazic dispensation (RIP Fela)
All the promises are better said than done. Nigeria Government/executives should first fight corruption among themselves before anyone can believe them. If I may ask which/how many Government policy have ever benefited the masses at the long run. My answer is one (PTF) - when we had many several PTF funded roads (my own area was benefited from it and those roads are still very good till date), PTF funded school buildings, PTF funded drugs etc.
fxmoney...I don't really understand you nor do I want to. LOL... Enough is enough this is bigger than oil subsidy, this is about your political friends coming to Potomac, MD to buy million dollar homes while the common Nigerian doesn't have clean running water and electricity. So, if you are not for the movement, then kindly get out of the way.
Please you guys need to pick up the policy document and read it before running on to the streets to join the protest. The government is looking to send the funds to Local Government Areas so that those in the rural villages can have people to hold accountable.
This policy is about subsidizing the poor and not the rich.
Please I want you heads in diaspora to understand how dis policy works.
Everyday I use 30litres and at N65/Litre, I am benefitting N85/Litre daily. This means that the government is spending N2550/day on me. This accrues to N930,750.00 annually on me from subsidy.
Meanwhile the 60% unemployed guys in yobe state who do not own cars, do not own generators all are cheated in this subsidy.
Is it a fair way of sharing the country’s wealth?
Let us be fair to our brothers who have no jobs!!!!!!!!!
no enough money to even bury love ones due to BOKO HARAM'S terror, now removal of fuel subsidy........how do we survive. If they are really serious about improving health care and bla bla, they should FIRST cut down on their allowances, unnecessary trips and all that crap, thank you.
