@mxgrl213 I remember that too. I also remember watching him holeshot Red Bud in the Open class doing a wheelie all the way to the first turn from the gate.
I knew Doug. Hung in Lake Elsinore. He actually helped me set my bike up for similar exhibition riding. Mellow guy, very very spiritual, always reading about mortal existences. He and I once tossed apple cores under Spanky Spanglers car ramp in the Astrodome and thought it was pretty funny! Enjoy the flight old friend!
He used to pretty much wheelie all the way around Unadilla in the late 70's the only parts he couldn't do were the very steep downhills because his rear fender would dig into the track.I was there the day someone played a joke on him and taped a small poster under his splash pan saying I am gay,he didnt realize it wast here and eveybody was laughing there asses off but we were still in awe of his monster wheelies, saw him at the motocycle show in NYC in 93 or 94 too
doug domokos started it all and pav the way.. , i was never fortunate enogh to see him perform,he still is and always will be the "wheelie king" rip doug
I was lucky enough to have seen Doug wheely the entire lenghth of a supercross track when he was in Australia, he also made the 6 o'clock news by wheelying across the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
Yeah I remember seeing him at the anaheim supercross in CA I think it was 94. Wheelied the whole track and at the end wheelied in circles at the finish line holding a flag up with one hand. Sad to see him go. R.I.P.
I got to see Doug wheelie a supercross track at the Pontiac silverdome in Michigan in the late 80's, he was even getting some air off the jumps! I could not wait to get home and jump on my YZ80 and try to do what he was doing!! R.I.P. we miss you here in Michigan Doug!!!
@LadaPoweri Domokus did not use an electric motor in his early days. It was only after he got a sponsorship that they put one on his bike. He used to take his foot and kick his front wheel to spin it so he could get the gyro effect from it. Doug could do anything without the electric motor that he did with it, I know, I used to race at the same tracks he did back in the 70's.
He was killed on my bday..

In my opinion, Arto Nyqvist is the wheelie king.
Domokos uses a huge rear sprocket and electric engine on front wheel :/
Arto started at 70's with Kawasaki Z-1300.
Off course Domokos is great stunter too.. RIP..
