@sallyswell you are wrong I'm afraid - there were loads of them - but this was an underrated one - atthe time they were regarded as too poppy to be heavy or progressive , when in fact they combined all three elemntss with an appreciation of classical structures
Play this song just before you go to bed... The sparkling sound effects in the beginning make me think of someone just falling asleep, and that grand voice....
I love "Starlight". My Ex Girlfriend found a CD of "Out of the Blue", and that was one of my favorites (The Album is fantastic, though) and "Take me On" is gorgeous.
They are one of the most unique group to take classical music, apply acid to it and make it so extremely upscale, its definitely classical music twisted on the rocks and on steroids!
hi again ,sorry to bother you but do you have 'Eldorado finale' ? also cheers for your answer, but who was/is Peter Ford Robertson ?.............................
Just googled him to see if I'd ever seen him in anything, and thought I'd spare others like me still to come a few minutes.
imdb.com/name/nm0285426/
b 1927 d 1995. He's in some Troughton and Pertwee Dr Who episodes! He got to play a few different parts in a few different series, including a Time Lord in 1971 and Chief of the Sea Devils in 1972.
Yes,nobody has ever used strings like Jeff did, they blended in beautifully with the melodic chords and the great harmonies. We'll never see or hear the likes of this music ever again!!
it is a shame how ELO 'lost' the orchestra noise over the years, but what is still remarkable is that they turned out hit records without the 'orchestra' sound, also from memory there was an on going argument between ELO and General Electric who claimed ELO had 'stolen' their symbol from them.......
Eldorado Overture, that's the name I couldn't think of, used to play it 20 + years and everyone wondered what the hell it was at first as well as Kraftwerk's Numbers, but being an ignorant shit I kept playing it and 'brainwashed' people into liking it.......
I get an erection at 1:50.

The dreamer, the unwoken fool,
In dreams, no pain will kiss the brow.
The love of ages fills the head.
The days that linger there in prey of emptiness,
Of burned out dreams.
The minutes calling through the years.
The universal dreamer rises up above his earthly burden.
Journey to the dead of night.
High on a hill in Eldorado
