@Yanksfan2344 Catholics don't baptise - the word baptism means to dip, plunge or immerse. Catholics 'sprinkle' instead and call it 'christening'. If you can't remember it, you didn't and couldn't believe then, which is a requirement for a correct baptism.

a christening is a catholic form of baptism for babies, but other denominations such as assemblies of god ect has a baby dedication which is much different. baptism is after you get saved its a sign of washing your sins away, might i add its amazing!

@monkeyskitz The word 'Baptism' means to 'dip, plunge, immerse'. One of the requirements for a proper baptism is that it is for believers - so if you can't believe, you were not baptised. Some churches (most notably the Catholic church and it's children) do not dip the whole person into the water, and hence it is not a proper baptism. What they do instead is 'sprinkle' with some water, and call it 'christening' - although they will also call it baptism if pushed.

@mja3806 ah i think i understand. the memories i have were at a church in elmswell in england, which im fairly sure is a "church of england" church, not catholic or protestant. either way, what they did to me was nothing of my choice, i was too young to make the decision. my dad is what you could call (i guess) a casual christian, as in, he believes, but doesnt go to church. so it was probably his choice to do it.

I got baptized at seven because i was penticostal apostolic and told the deacon that I wasn't ready to be baptized but he told me that if didn't get baptized right at that moment I was going to go to hell when I die later. But then in 2004 when i was 14 and my parents and other family became baptist in late 2000 I asked my mother is it was alright for me to get baptized when i was 14 and she only said yes because I told her that I had a full understanding of what it meant to be baptized

All scriptures claim be the inspired word of God, no matter the religion, and inspiring the word is not the same as written by God.

The Old Testament had Elohist/Yahwhist/Deuteronomist­/Priestly versions. The New Testament was derived from some 200 scriptures boiled down to a compendium . The Vulgate and the text of Erasmus (KJV) all had armies of translaters where translator errors could creep in.

When Peter stood up on the day of Pentecost, with Matthew beside him, he told everyone to be baptised "in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. " Peter had the keys to the kingdom of heaven, and Matthew was beside him - not correcting, supporting.

It was only several years later that Matthew recorded and published his gospel, and people were still baptised in Jesus name
