  • Critter!

  • Is this plane Flight 592 ?

  • @54ukulele at 0:57 you can hear the Tower Controller say Critter 594. ValuJet 594 was the next flight from Miami to Atlanta after 592.

  • @JT041196 Now that wasn't N932VV, wasn't it?

  • sorry - but what are they talking about in this vid ?

  • U R listening to radio traffic between the Miami tower and arriving/departing air traffic for MIA's runway 9. The callsign for ValuJet was "Critter."

  • Well this video must have been before the crash of Flight 592 because once ValuJet was grounded they decided right away to stop service in & out of Miami. They used Fort Lauderdale instead.

  • wow whats a UNITED plane doint at mia? I mean its not common

  • if i remember right, i think united had a hub at MIA back then =)

  • @joaquinnn

Just because Miami ain't Denver, don't mean that UAL can't fly to MIA.

I mean, the same could be said for an American Airlines plane in Denver, eh?

But yeah, I know what you mean. It's SO hub-and-spoke in America, ain't it?

  • Ahh, the old Valujet, now Airtran - which is a great company.

  • Is this from 1996?

  • yes...was on the 90' era at miami airport...

  • Do you know whether this video was before or after the crash of flight 592?

  • the DC9-30 N904VJ is crashed in Everglades (Florida) in the year 1996 thank you

  • It was really SabreTech's fault.

  • Ah yes. "Critter 594". Miami to Atlanta service. 4:15pm departure. 6:15pm arrival.

  • Two hours to fly from Miami to Atlanta?

  • Well Actually, If this video was taken in 95'.

It would be a 4:50pm departure, 6:45pm Arrival. The flight is about 1hr 40 min's long though. So, the times are gate to gate.

  • You're right. I went to Google Earth and measured the distance between Miami and Atlanta with a ruler. With the eye altitude listed at 1418.83 km, the scaled-down distance between the two cities was roughly 16 centimeters.

At the same scale, the distance between Vancouver and Edmonton (a 1h, 20min flight - gate-to-gate I guess) was only roughly 13 or so centimeters.

  • love the UAL 757 holding in the box...ah the good old days ;-/

  • That's Awesome!! Going on the faves!

  • Jetblue is way better than that suicidal Valujet...

  • i heard airtran is a good airline, can somebody confirm this?

  • from what ive heard, yea, they have pretty new planes and free satelite radio

  • nah, you have to pay for alot of extra stuff. Like checked bags, pillows, and this othere stuff my friend said was bull

  • That's not true. AirTran doesn't offer pillows at all, but XM Satellite radio is free, as are headsets, and all beverages except for alcohol. They will let you carry on one bag free along with a personal item, and their newer, modern planes have larger than usual overhead bins so will fit a nice sized carry on. Now they even offer inflight internet! It's a great airline to fly.

  • "In 1997, it merged with AirTran Airways. Although ValuJet was the nominal survivor, the ValuJet name was so tarnished by this time that it decided to take the AirTran name. It mentions almost nothing of its past as ValuJet."

    from Wikipedia. My mistake!!!

  • Aweome video great to see some old MIA videos!

  • if only valujet used MD-80 intead of the DC-9

  • i used to get paranoid when these flew LGA's runway 4 approach over my house back in the 90's x)

  • Airtran has one of the newest fleet in the US next to Jet Blue..All of the DC-9s were replaced with similar looking 717's.. Then when Boeing stopped making 717's, Airtran switched to 737's. Airtran oldest plane is 7yrs old.

  • Newest fleet, but worst service!

  • Sorry, should have said never flown.

  • AirTran only use's Boeing 717 and 737 aircraft. They no longer have DC 9's, and have no flown MD-90's.

  • The valujet that crashed was a DC-9 Airtran mostly uses MD-90s, as far as i know most of airtrans DC-9s are gone.

  • After the Everglades crash ValueJet changed its name to AirTran Airways. AirTran painted over the ValueJet logo and to date AirTran is still using the Original ValueJet Airplanes which are known for having electrical problems.

  • I heard Value Jet filed bankruptcy in order to get out of the multi-million dollar lawsuit resulting from their poor maintenance record and Everglades Crash. Then they changed their name to AirTran. You never know with those budget airlines. And now with the extreme high cost of fuel, it's likely more corners will be cut.

  • AirTran actually owns valujet after the sad everglades crash=(

  • Thats bull.

  • What's bull?

  • Nostalgic

  • I miss ValuJet
