I just tradded my 91 crx with a built d16zc dohc for a 94 eclipse 1.8..its got a blown head gaskit.is it hard to swap oon this car?

@360dylon Not as easy as a honda swap!!!!!! You can swap in a 4g63, but not sure about the wiring changes!!! Really would be alot easier to just buy a 1G gsx or gst and start from there!!!!!!!!

22 years later and now the style is still there. They are still one damn sexy car! Love 'em and have 4. My daily is a 90 Laser RS and my project is a 92 Eclipse GST. Even though the 92 is basically the same I am more partial to the pop up headlights but the wiring there does break after a bit of time but to have one of these cars you have to put the work into them. You don't see many of them around with 330k miles but I have one that does, lots of wrench time and love.

Im a proud first gen eclipse owner and i never wanna get rid of it. everything is stock unfortunately i bought it about 2 months ago like that. its a 1993 gsx all wheel drive pushing about 11 psi. shes a fast little bugger fun as hell to drift in the snow tho.. im looking for a greddy type s and a evo3 big turbo as well with the hks exhaust and a bunch of other things...

its funny cause there is really no gen 2 dsms since dsm was sold over to MMM mitsubishi motors something in 95 so really dsm diamond sport motors was really only a gen 1 like my dsm =) intercoolers are the only problems on the 1g tho find good ones cheap are hard as fuck

I have a 90 Eclipse GS. I have had it since 93. It only had one owner before I got it. The timing belt and engine went a few years ago. I have rebuilt the car... new engine, new transmission, new window controls, new tires, etc. I have put several thousand into it. I just dropped it off this weekend for final touches.. new paint job, new bumpers (turning yellow from age), new wipers, etc. I get more looks in that car then my brand new sedan. :) I will never get rid of it! LOVE IT!

first off the 1.8 block doesnt fit the 2.0 head and the 2.4 liter crank is twice the size of the 1.8 block....idk what your smoking but im sure i dont wanna touch it

the 2.4 liter block and crank however will work with the 2.0 head with block off plugs but you wouldnt know that cuz your talking out of your ass

I have a 95 talon with a blown motor and am trying to decide what to do. The car is an A/t with the 420A engine. I found a 93 talon thats a standard I can get, problem is, the car hasn't moved in almost 5 years so the owner says, a mechanic has it, the original owner never picked it up after being fixed, a plus is the 93 has a 4g63 engine in it and its a stick shift. My situation is, should I put money into replacing my 95 esi's engine or should I get the 93 and hope for the best??

@martian010 Depends on what you are trying to do??? Do you want to go fast and like always fixing and doing shit to your car, then go with the gst. If you just want a car to get you from point a to point b and don't care about speed, go with the esi. But honestly, anything is better than a non-turbo Talon with a A/T!!!!!!!

94 was actually the very last year of the true DSMs, sorry. The true DSMs were the first generation only. Don't feel bad though, the MItsubishi technology is there.

A gsr4 eclipse is jus the European/ JAPANESE version!! it is rare in the U.S!! There is nothing really diff about it..only the taillights..rear bumper..and it has more on the dash!! they even made some convertible "believe it or not' but they are VERY VERY RARE AND UGLY LOL"
