Its an axis, look at the footplate and at the moving part behind the axis of the pedal.
That moving part is where the spring is tied in, and the footplate being thinner at the tip then the ground plate, but the trick pedal is MUCH thinner. (but the pedal is much better tbh)
I dont know where I got those shoelaces from! LOL!!!....The left foot is more like 'ghost note bass drum strokes' - not intended to be loud. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year to you all...
And this isnt really a good speed exercise. Its a good coordination method if you want to play continuous bass drum beats while hitting a hihat with the other foot or something but a good speed exercise would be to play with one foot at a time at several volume and speed levels up to your maximum. Making sure that the front of your shins are hurting by the end of your routine. Your routine will increase speed but the independent footwork is a distraction to maximizing efficiency on the left side
This video would have lost absolutely nothing by being about a tenth of the length that it is.
Good video, although I'm not sure it helps much if you rely on power or play heels-up, but really could have been so much shorter. Seems to me that you got it a bit backwards insofar as making the description far more informative than the video.
Add some dialogue to your next video, it'll make it much more palettable to the viewer.
They are definatly NOT a waste of time. EVen tho there isnt much power behind the left kick, power can develop over time to, like if u start o0ut slow with power, ull eventually get speed. Likewise
metal is technically very challenging. maybe its less creative than jazz. but as far as it concerns double bass technique, metal drummers are the ones to ask how to do it.
but im wasting my breath: you dont even know how to spell technique.
metal less creative than Jazz? no way. Metal is everybit as creative as the amount of creativity put into it by the composer/performer. That goes for every genre. But technically speaking, if you want to learn foot speed the metal drummers kick every jazz drummers ass. The jazz guys are there for coordination, and rudimental applications with the hands.
you are correct. i would ask a metal drummer about bass drum technique and a jazz drummer about ride technique. metal drummers for the most part have been pioneers in double bass drumming...of course belson was one of the first to begin using it. but since then, metal drummers have brought it to a new level, im not even a metal drummer and i recognize this
@tubardix LESS creative than jazz??!?! You obviously don't work in a jazz club -- almost NOTHING new has happened in 40 years. Metal is WAY more creative -- maybe juszt less improvisational
looks like he was a single bass player and just kept doing the same shit with double bass!! boring as fucking hell!! his left foot just keeps going like its a fuckin hi-hat.
The exercise seems like a waste of time for one, because there was barely any power behind any of those hits. If you want double bass speed, just use the metronome and practice with lots of power over long periods of time.
you know, since you cut up the video and probably repeated parts [you can see the jump cut when the hand jumps], this video has lost some credibility...good exercise though
hey man thanks for this video this exercise has really halped with my technique except I dont tap the drum I strive for a full stroke, but thank you for the ideas
