One of my all-time favorite parts of the series was when Cobra Commander programmed those BATS to kill Serpentor and Sgt. Slaughter. Back in the day...I had Serpentor and his chariot. I had Slaughter and his tank. I had a B.A.T. figure (I LOVED the BATS) and I had three versions of Cobra Commander. Metal plated mask, hood mask, and fully armored CC. I was a goddamn fan. GI Joe: A Real American Hero. I watch it to this day on HUB Network.

He clearly had no brains or concept of military strategy as he never thought of any plots on his own. And for some reason everyone in Cobra, except for Cobra Commander, kissed his ass and were just his "Yes" men. The writers of this show had one of the coolest cartoon villians of all time in CC, and bumped him off his thrown for this joke. What were they thinking?

@DanimalBr Yes. . .and Serpentor validates Cobra Commander's assertion that Serpentor "does not have the experience to lead Cobra" and knows nothing of Cobra's strengths, weaknesses or strategies  when Serpentor foolishly invades Washington D.C. His army even runs out of fuel and ammunition. This makes Serpentor realize that he is inexperienced and needs Cobra Commander as his second-in-command. I do like the addition of Serpentor since it helps to develop Cobra Commander's character.

@DanimalBr And makes Cobra Commander more sympathetic. Cobra Commander regains control of Cobra in the DIC series, but I wish the two would have had a decisive duel. According to the file card, Cobra Commander's Battle Armor suit makes Cobra Commander as powerful as Marvel's Iron Man. Cobra Commander could not physically challenge Serpentor before Cobra Commander gets the Battle Armor because Serpentor is a gentically enhanced being, while Cobra Commander is just a regular man.
